i haven't a clue what thread/s you are talking about, i suspect Terry features there somewhere, but i really have no idea why people are bothered by that sort of thread.

the ones i find unpleasant are the ones that go on and on and on and on (etc) about how much people hate/detest/can't stand someone, picking on personal characteristcs, or inventing them, casting aspersions on their character, mental health, size, weight, shape etc etc etc.

its almost as if having an 'appreciation' forum has cast this forum as the shadow, and thats the risk of excluding (and dismissing so patronisingly) half the demographic.

i am neither a lover nor a hater, i'm normal i tell ya. and i'll be staying here and being roundly annoying by inhabiting the middle-ish ground.

Strictly bingo that sounds like fun.
It's hosted by Bruce and his 'son' Anton.

Oddly enough, it doesn't bother me that much.

It's simply that last night this thread went OT and we started discussing the balance of the forum since the app threads were moved.

The last few posts about - shall we say - some of the forum oddities, have just gone off at a bit of a tangent, really.

Once again - apologies to Lisa. this thread is supposed to be about her.

Several threads, in the main bumped up and contributed to by one person largely talking to themselves are far more annoying to have littering page one than the Appreciation Threads ever were.

One of the reasons why I am posting less and less, and thinking of leaving altogether.

On the subject of Lisa, she isn't my choice of finalist, but I'd be quite happy to see her for a couple more weeks. There are worse than her in the competition still, and she seems to be really enjoying the whole experience.
Aw please don't leave but I feel your pain believe me.

Apologies as well along with fancynancy (no relation) for bringing this off topic but sometimes frustration takes over. I wonder if maybe a poll is timely, at least to ask whether current couples threads are viable on the mb again for the duration. Anything to save looking at the same old SHOUTY!!! threads.

I think you under-estimate someone's determination and perseverance.

On topic (sort of) - wardrobe have really outdone themselves with Lisa this week. And Robin if it comes to that. They must really have something against her.

I would second this.

I do think that someone needs to be gently but firmly put back inside their box. They may be within the letter of the T&C 'law' but perhaps not quite within the spirit. The rest of the forum has a right to a degree of protection.

Yes, mods - I'm looking at you.

it went off topic on page 1 when some old lag attempted to dismiss the OP from the queue for the showers.

Er....look, it honestly takes a lot to rile me, but if I'm cheesed off, then there's something wrong.

I think that's borne of irritation, isn't it?

No T&C's have been broken - it's just that the forum finds itself exasperated. Hence any 'guidance' from those with the wherewithal to do it could not be too censorius. But it does need doing.

ok. sorry if i'm missing something. i rarely read any of his posts, and those i do see are usually either silly or ultra silly, and i really can't get aerated about that!

the ones the drive me mad, as stated earlier, are the personally offensive ones (x looks like a whore, x is mentally ill, x is a slag, x is ugly etc...)

Not disagreeing with you. What else is annoying is the statement of opinions as facts which is 'peculiar' to these threads and means there is no chance of any sensible discussion anyway.

There is one particular thread that has crashed through bizarre and come out on the other side.

On the face if it, it is a couple of posters indulging in a private Dick Emery themed chat.

What the subtext is I have no idea. Nor want to.

Not forgetting the sweeping inclusion of everyone having the same opinion regardless.

ok. i don't feel like i've ever read enough of his threads/posts to get a picture of their form in time.

innuendo may be tiresome but its rarely overtly offensive. and crashing through bizarre and out the other side probably makes it the height of avant garde...

Other than the issue of where the app threads should or should not be, those are the ones that really prompted me to get involved with this thread.

There are some posts - not that many, but quite sufficient, thank you very much - that are so malicious and spiteful and full of such scorn and superiority that the only reason I haven't chucked Digital Spy in altogether is the feeling of "Why the bloody hell should I?".

It doesn't always make for a comfortable existence here, though.

That was me - and I only made reference to it to indicate that even after all these years, I'd prefer to see that thread as opposed to SOME that habitually litter the front page and are constantly bumped to make sure they do so. I can't make it more obvious than that!

Anyway, I wouldn't want any app threads back in the main forum other than the current season's couples - and I don't necesssarily agree that app threads are unwelcoming if you're anything other than 100% positive. Most FMs are reasonable people who are more than happy to engage in debate about their favourites, providing one is generally supportive. Obviously if you wander in and decare that their faves are a right pair of t*ssers you might not receive a terribly warm welcome.

As for the stalkerish ones - yes, they do exist, but they do tend to be the long running ones which, as I indicated, should be lodged up in the attic once they're no longer current.

I'm conscious that I've been blathering on OT - I know this is a thread about Lisa, so sorry folks!
True. I'm negative sometimes and I have read other negative appraisals on app threads. App threads tend to be realistic too often about failings and pitfalls.

First we had "I'm doing this for the cubbers" now it's "I'm just Lisa from Manchester."

This self denigration is becoming tiresome: everyone has a hometown. We have Kimberley from Bradford; Denise from Basildon; Louis from Peterborough; Victoria from Stotfield; Nicky from Dublin.

Need I go on?

Sorry, I don't, I find her intensely irritating.

2. I like Robin
He's not one of my favourite pros at all.

3. As Craig said in show one "she can dance" and has proven this several times
In your opinion maybe, but certainly not in mine. I have yet to see her show much dance technique at all and I think Craig's overmarking of her is verging on the ridiculous.

4. I dislike intensely nastiness towards anyone personally
I haven't seen anything personally nasty about Lisa. The threads about Denise and Louis are often a different story entirely - the criticism of Lisa is much more mild!

As for the App threads, I tend not to bother going there any more as I tend to get irritated by the blind support for a couple that often appears regardless of how well/badly they may have danced.
