Use a programme like copypod too copy the contents from your iPod too your PC then attach your nexus 7 and transfer too nexus 7 this wont work with music bought from itunes Store though. You can also store up to 20000 songs on Google play music cloud storage but you will only be able too play them if you have a wireless connection as they are not stored on your device.

Why won't it work with music bought from iTunes - it's not had DRM for about 5 years!

To convert your iTunes library to MP3, do the following:

iTunes > preferences > general. Click on 'import settings', then 'import using' and select MP3 encoder. Below that, select the desired bit rate.

Next, in your iTunes library highlight the files to be converted in iTunes and choose 'create MP3 version' from the Advanced menu.

Then just plug in your Nexus, go to the iTunes music files on your computer and drag them to the Nexus!

If you have your music in iTunes, you can use an app called doubletwist to sync with your Nexus 7. You need to downloading on the Nexus 7 (from google play) and onto your computer. (At least you do with a Mac.)

You can use Google Music, will copy your itunes playlists and library into the cloud and you can download the app to the nexus 7 and play the music.

It will also update if you add any song to your itunes library, if you select that option

I've just done that, so now I'm wondering if I can delete all my music library on my Nexus 7 to free up space?

Yeah you can, and just click the pin if you want to redownload a local copy, very useful.

I think that Google Play Music is the best app to use as it means you can just continue using iTunes as normal.

Thanks for that, Gormond, so now that I've emptied my music library, how do I access it from the cloud? embarassed.

On my Nexus 7 I just go in to Play Music and it shows me all songs I have uploaded via the computer. Just make sure you log in to the same account and make sure all music is selected at top left not on device only.

Thanks G, sync was turned off, going well now and a big improvement as I can now see Kate Rusby while she's playing. Beforehand there was no album art.
BTW the uploading has got very slow, is this normal as it looks like I'm going to be up all night.

I left mine overnight. You can go to sleep and leave your PC on you know!

It selected about 1,500 tracks out of about 12,000 that had to be uploaded. Took a while, it's all done now.

The only things it couldn't handle were a few WAVs.
