Not sure about disadvantaged, but Bully is certainly about a group of out-of-control teens.

There's an old Matt Dillon film (his film debut) called OVER THE EDGE (1979) that's all about rebellious teenagers. I watched it on some cable channel a couple of years ago. I honestly don't remember if it was good or not.
PLOT: New Grenada is a planned community set in the desert where there is nothing for the kids to do, save for a rec center - which closes at 6 PM. The parents, in their zeal to attract industry to their town, have all but neglected their children. As a result, the kids begin to create their own entertainment, which involves vandalism, theft, and general hooliganism. During an incident when one of the kids brandishes an unloaded gun at town cop Ed Doberman, he is shot and killed. When the parents gather the next night to discuss the killing and the level of lawlessness among the youth, they soon find out that their kids have had all they can take. Trailer: LINK |

There is a film I watched the other day called Gridiron Gang. It's a 2006 film (I think) starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. I thought it was quite a good watch.

Kes is a classic movie if you want one about a disadvantaged child.

I second Over the Edge and Quadrophenia.
Crows Zero (Japanese) Crazed Fruit (Japanese) City of God (Brazilian) Gangster High (Korean) Mi Vida Loca (American) Rumble Fish (American) Young and Dangerous (Hong Kong) Suburbia (American) Heathers (American) Fudoh, The New Generation (Japanese) Christiane F (German) Boyz in the Hood (American) Jawbreaker (American) The Warriors (American) The Basketball Diaries (American) Catholic Boys (American) I think of all on that list, Gangster High is my favourite. I guess Ichi the Killer can be counted? Ichi is supposed to be 17, 19 or 20 years old (the comic creator isn't consistent with his age), but Ichi (Nao Oumori) in the film looks and is way over 20. |

BTW for those who are into those sort of films, there's one called Manic with Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the main character. I watched it last night (hence me posting this thread and looking for more films like it) and it was absolutely phenomenal. It's about a bunch of teenagers in a sort of mental hospital type place and it touches on some really sensitive issues. There was another one he did called Mysterious Skin where he plays a reckless gay kid who got molested when he was younger and it leaves his mind really warped and out of control.
Out of the films suggested i've saw Harry Brown and Eden Lake (both fantastic), Kes, The Boy in The Striped Pyjamas and This Is England but thanks for suggestions. Got the thread bookmarked.
