You hate him because he's in the papers a lot and you think he's smug? That's the worst reason for wanting somebody dead I've heard all week. Plus, where did the 'thug' bit come from. Where has Pete acted like a thug? Have you even met him?”

I didn't actually say anything about DEATH did I?

Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode O.D.'ed and is still here to tell the tale - in fact it's the only thing that actually made him clean up his lifestyle. I think it's the only thing that will make Pete come to his senses.

I'm 31 by the way - and if you think I'm a c*** then fine - but have you met me? You take a snapshot of thought and form a full judgement on me, and yet you seem to castigate me for doing the same!?

Go and have a Horlicks and chill out.

giving an alternative or my opinion on pete, i dont like him much, he seems a role model for a llot of kids and his ways cud get the wrong impression thru to kids. i certainly wudnt praise him like nme and r1 do as a musician.

I believe you can see their cinematrographs on the telegramophone. Something to do with the kids and their "music television"

Mr Doherty is on Newsnight tonight, apperently. Telling his side of the story. Apparently he isn't a bad role model, and "the kids" don't ask him about drugs, just the music

Marrows, I was gonna start a thread Called " Marrows - What a C***" but i don't wanna get banned so i guess i won't,
How can you or anyone else on here Call someone a **** or an idiot when you probably haven't even met them, it amazes me how people can do that But i guess it's just chavs being chavs i suppose.

And Pxd867 according to you people with drug problems are '*****', I know plenty of people with drug problems and they are not '*****'. People with drug problems need help Including pete,
Many people with drug problems forget who they are and lose every part of themselves and just become machines that are fuled on drugs,

I dunno what i'm trying to get at here or what point i'm trying to make but I just wanna say leave the guy alone he needs help, and that he is certainly not a ****, but what i've read here, i've seen/heard people that seem like bigger c*** than anyone ive ever spoken to.

Yawn. I made my point before and now you've made yours. I haven't met Pete and you haven't met me, so I guess you're just as chavish as you think I am. So what? You've still formed an opinion of me over a few sentences of my thoughts, whereas I've based my opinions on Pete from loads of magazine articles, news reports and interviews from different sources.

I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight knowing you think I'm a c***...

Pete is anything but a c*nt, yea ok he has problems but hey dont we all, its just his get splashed across all the papers...if you're so fed up with it, just don't read them. I'm not going to preach about how amazing he is, because right now i can kinda off agree with people disliking him, he's let down hundreds of his fans and he has no excuse for that, except his drug problems which are admittedly his own fault. I'm a HUGE fan of petes, but I guess you have to have been in on this since the beginning to be able to put up with his disgusting behavior and understand why he does it and how much he needs help WITH people sticking by him. He need so much support because he's not mentally up to doing this by himself. People aren't in on the whole pete saga just because he's cool......and he does have talent, i've never heard any lyrics or music before with as much passion, romance and meaning behind them before.

I'm bored now but if you don't want in on it, don't read about it, don't respond to it, just leave it, and those who are in on it just stick by him.

After seeing the interview last night on Newsnight it just confirmed what I already thought about Pete Doherty. He's very talented and capable of writing excellent songs but he has a self-destructive side that often gets in the way. The Libertines first album is brilliant but the second album and the Babyshambles stuff I've heard is not so good which is possibly due to his drug taking.

Also, I really don't think that putting him on the front page of magazines, claiming he's really 'cool' and hyping him up is very helpful to a guy who obviously needs alot of help to get over his addiction(s). When it comes down to it though, only he can help himself.....which he already knows......

I'm very unsure about Pete. I'm not sure what he has done to deserve so much media attention except from his drug habit. You are forever reading that he has failed to show for a gig or turned up but looked like death. He was on TOTP with Babyshambles the other week and he didn't look in good health. His mother defended him in the paper saying he was an exceptional poet, writer and thinker and people should lay off him, so I agree and I say lets give him another year amd see what he can achieve- it's in his hands.

FFS people wake up, this guy has a problem! I think a lot of people here don't realise just how hard it is to kick the Drugs habit and while I can't speak from personal experience, I can relate in my role as a trained Youth Worker who's had to work with Kids who have exactly the same issues as Pete - luckily for them they don't get their shit splashed over every tabloid and the NME.

If you think he's a **** then that's your opinion, but drugs is a problem that doesn't need judgement, it needs understanding and i think the sooner people stop building him up or putting him down and just leave him be, the better.

I think people are slagging him off because of the fact that he is being built up because of his drug problem.

If certain sections of the media weren't trying to turn him into a glamorous figure because of his drug taking other people would be a lot more sympathetic. People are just annoyed with the hype and are naturally being turned off him as a personality.

Of course, none of this is Pete's fault.

In a time when chart music consists of busted, scissor sisters and marron 5 then there is a great need to have such bands as libertines (which now has 2 spinoffs - "chavs" carls band and "babyshambles" petes band), bloc party and kings of leon. With John Peels death there are no beacons of light showing the new generations where to access to alternative and exciting music (maybe zane lowe or lemaq on radio1 and mtv2). NME and thier minions build the likes of pete up to a level of hype that can't be sustained.

Marrow why do you attack someone while they need more help than critisicm - calling someone a C*** while never actully meeting them and probally not even taking the time to listen to his music and read his poetry.
