Was this related to the Glasgow Green fireworks debale which robbed LuLu of her votes?

I thought the cat had been beggering around with the remote - but she was asleep on her bed at the time (apologies moggie).

Presume it was just BBC Scotland - they appeared to broadcast the Gaelic programme on BBC2 for a few minutes. Unfortunately, it means I can't vote for Michael Vaughn as I only saw the last minute of his dance - a bit unfair.

Still, I forgive BBC Scotland - no matter how often they screw things up, they'll never ever be as bad as STV.

Does anyone know if they are at least going to re-show his dance?

Though a lot of the switching is contracted out to another company. No one sits watching the picture, it will all be done automatically and there was a picture going out so the monitoring might have been happy.

They tend to have banks of monitors in control rooms but who is going to notice one changing to another programme?

Most complaints will just disappear into the "system" and not reach a human until later.

The only way that it would be likely to reach someone with the power to speak to the right people is if someone in authority or someone technical saw it and was able to get a message direct to the Duty Officer. But there must be a good chance that many of them would be watching in HD so not notice it.

Was an apology made? if so I missed it!!

It was such an odd thing to happen. Eorpa was not just starting on BBC2 - it, like SCD - was well into its broadcast. So how on earth did it morph to BBC1?

There was a very very brief apology - the Children in Need number was shown at the very end, then the man said something like "Sorry about the problems with Strictly. And next Merlin..."

I made a complaint to the BBC. I realise it is probably pointless, but still think we need to complain more if we want things to change!!!

I've complained too. It's a significant error by the BBC on a programme which has a public vote.

I am not even going to comment on the fact that it appears to have caused a riot at my mum's house! She was watching it on delay - to fast forward Bruce - and yer man paused it to see the footie results...

Apparently he got hell when mum got to the point where strictly disappeared. She (and he, in fairness) thought that he had cut off the recording.

If she hadn't phoned me to see what I thought of the dance, yer man might have still been in trouble. Now that mum knows that it was a BBC problem, yer man is enjoying 'martyr' status!

Still, it was a jolly poor show by the beeb!

It's in The Sun this morning.

Strictly Come Duncing
Gaelic show mix-up on BBC1

From another thread it seems that word of it got through to Wembley because Claudia made some comments. There is an ambiguous comment suggesting they might reshow that dance but I am not certain.

In the "good old days" when everything was done manually, and not by computers, it was common for mistakes to happen near the end of a programme but it was usually the continuity announcer practising his announcement and fading up the wrong feed so he went out on air.

I had not realised that Eorpa was now on BBC2 again but I supposed it is a result of using the supposedly Gaelic channel to carry football.

The Telegraph's take on the BBC blunder.

LOVE the quote that "the voting would not be effected"......

Meanwhile, the Gaelic Bods at the BBC will be celebrating a sudden upturn in viewer numbers for 'Eorpa' - "wow, look at that - over 1 million!"

I would still love to know how it happened. Eorpa was being broadcast on BBC Alba and BBC 2 Scotland. It had not just started, it was well under way, as was SCD. So how on earth did it manage to parachute into BBC1 - unless someone pushed a button?

I guess that must mean that Michael wasn't in the dance off then.
