That was awful from Only 16. Sounded like a funeral march.

I don't recall ella ever bringing up her age can you provide links to those quotes

Jade certainly was robbed but wouldn't say she was unbelievable I'm even struggling to remember what she sang.

I just watched her first performance from the lives yesterday (Take That - Rule The World) to see what all the supposed fuss is with her and she definately mentioned it in her VT then.
Cannot confirm if she has mentioned it since, as after watching that clip, i could not see what was so special about her (good voice but nothing outstanding imo regardless of age) so have not watched any of her other performances.

I don't have links to VTs from the shows I'm afraid.

She repeated after Gary criticised her dancing, saying she was only 16, she wanted to have fun. She says almost every week on Xtra factor.

For me her performance this week was her weakest so far; she made such a happy jolly song into such a depressing one. I think she will be in trouble tonight...

There seems to be a lot of sour grapes on here. Some don't seem to be able to get over the fact that Jade was one of the worst singers in the competition and that's why she was voted out.

Ella, on the other hand, is the best singer in the competition and she will get a recording contract whether she wins or not.

Ella was vocally good, but what an awful take on the song. The lyrics just do not match such a slow and dreary version.

Kinda tired of Ella slowing everything down or singing in a different key and having it be hailed as a fresh and innovative take where she made the song her own! It's become incredibly dull, so dull, I'd rather watch Rylan instead.

If you are going to slow down a fast song and turn it into a ballard, at least make sure the lyrics are emotive enough to match the genre, You're The One That I Want as a ballard is laughable and was never going to work especially when the backing track was dirgelike.

This is an example of when it does work, when Adam Lambert turned If I Can't Have You into a ballard.

I can appreciate "making a song your own" but this was the wrong song to do it with. She sucked all the life and energy out of it and, as another poster commented, the lyrics aren't emotive enough to stand on their own. Not good.

I agree but if Ella's performance was boring, then so is that.

The difference is that you can actually feel the emotion in his performance, the lyrics allowed this. Ella although vocally very good showed no genuine emotion in her performance, partly due to the song itself. Adam Lambert was 26 when this was performed, maybe it's an age thing and as she matures Ella also will learn to emotionally connect to her songs and not just stand up and deliver them.

I had the same issue with Bring Me to Life, a very emotional song with very little emotion in the performance.

Maybe so but I love her voice, she has the best voice in the competition so I won't hold it against her because she probably wouldn't choose to sing most of her songs if given the choice.

I haven't actually criticised Ella for being boring, in fact I think she sang it pretty well and I like her voice but the song doesn't work with the reduced tempo.

It would be more of an even playing field if we compared like with like, eg if Ella sang a song which actually does work slowed down (or preferably the same song!) then we can see if she sounds boring. The fault is not Ella's but her mentor's.

I couldn't watch Jade. I wanted to like her, but had to turn over every time she was on.

Sorry, I didn't mean to pick you out, I just used your post to make the comparison

I loved that performance by Adam ... the lyrics suit it being slowed down far better than You're The One That I Want

Not a fan of Ella's, she has a good singing voice, but why do they keep getting her to sing songs slower than what they were meant to be sung.

On the xtra factor she last week she did a quick little song of her own, and it kinda suited her. If she's still here next week, maybe they could have her sing a quicker song.
