That just about sums it all up for me.
I think the Wembley Show should be just that, a "Show".
Nothing to do with the "competition" , at least that way the marking would have some credibility.

I enjoyed it too.
And yes....just a one off show every year, would be just right.

I thought that it was awful. The sound was terrible, the singers sounded as if they were being strangled, the costumes, apart from Natalie's, were drastic, especially Denise's. I agree with most people it should go to Blackpool. And yes, it also looked and sounded like the Brucie show tonight.

Agreed. Lisa's 'dress' was frightful too, and an insult to her. If it was supposed to be jokey, it failed disastrously. As for that 'Paso' music choice for Victoria, and the 'Charleston' music for Denise, the whole show slipped back again. Such a shame, after the previous week's big improvement. All in all, a terrible night for Strictly viewers, even if the 6000 there enjoyed it.

Why is the Wembley Stage so huge? Is there any need for it to be so so massive? I know artists play there but I don't get why they make such a big stage!

I can't stand the Wembley shows, yes it might be absolutely brilliant to be there in the audience but as a viewing spectacular it's utter rubbish because the auditorium is simply too big.

Well I assume the whole idea is to make it big. Its like a televised tour night.

A live arena HD production with full surround sound, and very few noticeable technical errors, I thought it was excellent!

Can't comment on the regular stereo sound, but in surround it was stunningly balanced, and very inclusive. Some echo, but then it's an arena, it's big, it's going to echo. The lighting was generally identical to the studio show, and was also excellent. The projection of the city scape and rooftop onto the floor for Louis and Flavias dance was inspired, and overall the lighting and staging was technically and visually very impressive.

It was a welcome change not to have too much of the horrible floating steadicam camerawork that usually ruins the studio shows, but the dolly running opposite the judges was not running smoothly which was a distraction. The long sweeping crane shots engaged the viewer in the size of the venue, showing off the stunning, vast stage.

I loved it, an outstanding outside broadcast! But I would much prefer the on-the-road show to come from Blackpool!

Well it's interesting to hear what you say, but sadly most of us disagree and thought it was all awful. The ultra flashing lights were not good TV viewing and I for one will take a fortnight to get my sight in focus again! I'm glad that at least you'd prefer to go to Blackpool. I think that's pretty unanimous.

Well you seem to know what you are on about and its nice to get a more positive reaction.
There should be two on the road broadcasts, the live arena and Blackpool, which will leave plenty of intimate studio shows to satisfy raging hordes of unhappy DS posters.

Simple Fact 3, Tower Ballroom Blackpool's website suggests they had a bookings for Tuesday and Thursday as well as tonight. Don't know when those bookings were made, but given that the SCD set is available for rehearsals from Thursday onwards each week and that has camera positions already set up. The BBC/which ever OB company is used, would likely need to have been in Blackpool on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Question 1 : Would Kyle have been prepared to do the show at Blackpool?
Question 2 : Is there a better location that could have been used ?”

I agree with all your facts. However, Are you suggesting that the crew were not at Wembley on Tuesday?

Question 1: Who knows? Who cares?

Question 2: Studio No.1 at the London Studios on the South Bank.

Yep, Wembley is too big, all the comments about Camera angles, Sound etc are so accurate. Seen the Strictly tour there 3 years ago and it was dissapointing, just too far away, roll on TV Centre next week, and hopefully the Judges will calm down and start marking a bit more sensibily

Ignoring the dancing, the Wembley show was great. I loved the projections especially. I should have applied for Wembley tickets and will next year on this basis.

But we are ignoring the dancing this series anyway.

I don't have Sky but I agree - it seemed very rushed. I really wish they'd forget Wembley and go back to Blackpool. Wembley just isn't made for dance - many of the couples had extra dancers or huge props to fill up the space.

Awful!

Blackpool for me everytime. Wembley is always such a let down.

I thought the camera work was especially awful in the pro dances, could barely catch a glimpse of half the pro couples (though I'm not really complaining about how much we saw Brendan & Natalie!).

I'm glad some couples tried to use the whole floor, but the camera panning out was just pointless - I wanted it to follow them round the floor and show the technique (or lack of it!).

Agreed. Apart from the 6000 + judges who go there, most of the 9 million viewers hate it. But minority wins it seems.

I think this post summarises things really .....some people love the technical achievements and live atmosphere of Wembley.....me, I just wanted to see the dancing.......for me, the stage is pretty irrelevant. Each to their own, I guess

Wembley is purely a money making exercise, 6,000 people paying to see the show... ch-ching! Surely that's the only reason they do it as it brings absolutely nothing to the television audience that so faithfully tune in week after week
To be honest I don't really feel like I saw any of the dances because the camera constantly decided to orbit outer space during each routine
Shame too because I would have loved to watch this weeks show in our usual cosy little BBC studio, I imagine the scores/comments would've been quite different for some if we had.

Really disappointed - I hated it. Couldn't see the dancers properly - at times they looked like ants. I couldn't even work out who was dancing half the time in the group dances. Did Aliona dance? I think she was meant to but I couldn't see her and with the camera diving in and out you didn't have time to spot anyone.

The singing, which I usually don't mind, was atrocious. Club Tropicana was murdered, I cringed the first time and then had to endure it again in the dance off.

Over all I was bored. I am usually glued to the tv when Strictly is on but this week I was using my computer as well.

I recorded the results show and whizzed through a lot of it. Also very disappointed with Kylie. I am not really a fan but she is usually pretty good - bad choice of song, voice didn't sound too good and she just stood there and barely moved. Mind you those ridiculous Minnie Mouse shoes didn't help on that score

I agree totally about Wembley. I couldn't really see much of the footwork. The only dance that can be off the plinth appears to be the quickstep which just amounts to circling it. I have really no idea whether Richard and Erin were any good because all I could focus on was the fish in the water. There was far too much complicated lighting and 'figures' and such like circling the plinth. Let's get back in the studio and take us to Blackpool next year PLEASE
