I don't know why people are taking it so seriously, it was hilarious banter! Rylan was talking about Gary back THEN not NOW, and I feel it was fair play as Gary has his comebacks too. They get on very well backstage, they only have this childish banter after Rylan performs.

infact, it was gary's reaction that was the saving grace. he took it in great form! he was laughing and joking around aswell. that's what made it funny. the total opposite of how tulisa reacted. had he have actually gotten mad and sat there with a faced like a smacked fish the whole thing would have been very different and very uncomfortable...it wouldn't have been funny - just rude. like fagashbreath was. but gary and rylan clearly have a good relationship behind the scenes and get on very well, so it treated as good hearted banter between the two (plus gary's old enough and been through enough to at this point be able to take a joke and laugh at himself).


even though i found this to be much more lighthearted and funnier, that's PURELY because gary's good reaction to it allowed it be so. objectively, i don't really like either comment, as both were quite rude. (remember that gary barlow is someone who has some serious body image issues and went through depression with an eating disorder. yes he looks great now, but that doesn't erase all that pain. if he wasn't able to laugh this off in good spirits, it could have had potential to be very hurtful. much more so telling someone who can't sing each week that they can't sing...)

Hopefully, Gary will now think twice before being offensive to others. I doubt it will though, he is to far up his own arse to care about others feelings.

Agreeing with you — Rylan's comment to Gary regarding size: production didn't spend time researching Rylan's old band and playing that segment in order for there not to be the banter between the contestant and Gary. It was all expected and everyone played their part.

Gary was The Fat One in Take That and much has been written about that over the years. Everyone knows how well he's done to get in shape and stay large like that these days.

Both Rylan and Gary played their roles as expected. I hope it's gained more votes for Rylan because I'd really like him to stay.

Rylan is NOT deluded. He knows exactly what he can do and can't do. He knows he isn't that good a singer but he puts on a performance. He knows he is going home soon and told it like it was with the miming.

Rylan was absolutely right of course even though he sounded a bit strange as if there was a strong backing track to his singing.
My problem is that although Jahmene and Ella have good voices their vocal gymnastics are so over the top that they make their song choice almost unrecognisable.
Much as I like him James has a habit of sounding constipated at times but the judges never tell him so.
I think Union J may be in the bottom two this week because Jaymi didn't feature much in last night's song and he is the one carrying the rest of that group in my opinion.
For that reason I prefered Rylan and Christopher's singing to the most last night.

I have to disagree most that mime can't infact sing. There's plenty of singers out there that have sold milions upon millions of records that are horrible singers live so rylan did have a point.

I don't mean literally mad, haha. It was probably the wrong choice of word actually, but the look on his face when Rylan made the comment, then when he got up and Rylan hid behind Dermot (who is about a foot smaller than him ), but watching it back Gary did handle it quite well actually.

It was a good bit of banter (probably scripted). I thought that Gary and Rylan both played their parts well - just take it for what it was, no need for in depth analysis.

I don't think the thin comment was meant to be offensive, I got the feeling he was calling himself thin, not calling Gary fat if that makes sense. Gary has a built physique, but Rylan is very slim, I don't think he meant it as an insult to be honest, just a joke. Love what he said about miming, Rylan could easily make good records in a studio and be just as good as most pop artists these days live.

I've just watched it again and Gary was laughing, they all were, no-one was taking it seriously. They admit to liking each other, there's no malice, so I'm also inclined to think it's all scripted.

How is he being cocky when he said he's already packed his bags expecting to leave tonight?

I got bored with the 'Gary vs Camp Contestant' routine last year when Johnny Robinson was on the receiving end of Gary's pretty accurate criticisms. Now we get it again this year. None of Rylan's 'sidesplitting' retorts to Gary would have me voting for him, it amazes me people would waste a quid or whatever it is voting for Rylan on the basis of what he says to Gary.

Gary hasn't laughed like that in any other show, Rylan brings out the lighter side in him, behind the scenes they get on ok. Still after that exchange even Cowell might pick up the phone and vote, I bet when he sees it he wets himself laughing.

I hope simon does see it, considering he refused to sign take that unless 'they got rid of the fat one'. (gary)

He's not talented enough to be anywhere near Barlow's credentials.
I'm actually quite a fan of Gary Barlow, and think he's done really quite well for himself.
The fact that he has to sit there whilst the likes of Rylan prance about on stage must quite a chore.

This is one of the reasons I have always disliked Rylan, There is a little thing called class that Rylan has none of. Tv is already bad enough about people being super skinny, or perfect looking, of which Rylan is obviously another of these victims with his fake tans, and constant hair changes.

Anyway some of the best loved people on our screens are not models or perfectly skinny , for instance, i love Alan Carr , he is so funny.

I love Alan Carr, his self deprecation is honest and not needy. Rylan is an image obsessed fool and people on here who comment about his perceived modesty etc need to realise a guy like Rylan who has done the rounds of reality tv land will do or say anything to stay in the limelight. He's an embarrassment to the gay community, a halfwit living up to provincial stereotypes of what a gay man is. I think the majority of his fans are women who miss the days of Larry Grayson. If Rylan were stripped of his ludicrous fake tan, capped teeth, hair dye, Towie mannerisms and Priscilla Queen of the Desert costumes we'd see a very feeble, attention seeker with self esteem issues.
