Just a few thoughts as we can be fairly sure about which type most of the contestants are doing, and at this stage in the competition the lists of what's left are quite manageable:

(May I add to this: oh dear.)[*]Michael & Natalie - probably latin, having done three ballrooms in four weeks. Options: Charleston, Paso, Rumba, Samba.[*]Nicky & Karen - could be either discipline. Options: American Smooth, Argentine Tango, Charleston, Paso, Salsa, Samba, Viennese Waltz.[*]Richard & Erin - probably ballroom, having just done two latins. Options: American Smooth, Argentine Tango, Tango, Viennese Waltz.[*]Victoria & Brendan - may be ballroom as she has thus far alternated evenly between the two disciplines. Options: American Smooth, Argentine Tango, Viennese Waltz, Waltz.[/LIST]
There is likely at least one Rumba this week as we've only had two so far. Also probably at least one Argentine Tango as there's only been one so far and we are now approaching the business end of the competition, and the Waltz could well pop up as we've only had one since week 1.

Not until week 10 at the earliest, as week 9's show is only 80 minutes long - although they might throw in the Swingathon.

I think, in Strictly terms that the Charleston is like the Argentine Tango and not specifically categorised as either ballroom or Latin, so can be put whenever

The Charleston falls under latin and AT ballroom for the purposes of Strictly if nowhere else (in the latter's case only since it was 'demoted' from being danced in the semi-finals only). Chris & Ola did it as their favourite latin back in the 2009 final and in 2010 week 4 was Charleston or Tango,

Flavia has said that Louis and herself and Dani and Vincent have elected to do the Argentine Tango in the final - if they get there!! So we can discount that dance from their list this week.

Interesting - thanks for that. I wonder if that means the producers are hoping for a Dani/Louis final two so we get a Vincent/Flavia AT-off? That'd be a pretty big thing to hype...

I didnt realise the pro's could influence the order of the dances that they got.

I think it is probably more of a Flavia v Vincent thing that they have long joked about. They probably have spoken about the possibility of them both getting contenders some year and leaving their AT's until the very end and this year is the first time that this is looking like it could be possible to have this battle

I doubt the producers have anything to do with them coming up with this idea but I think they would be more than happy to let V&F go along with this as it would add to the build up to the final.

Oh dear. I'm worried about Michael having the Rumba, Samba, Charleston or Paso to contend with.

He's probably already had the dances most suited to him now.

Could the producers really be that mean and pick the Rumba for Michael?

So am I, and in ballroom he has only the Viennese Waltz left that we know he'll be good at, as well as the Tango and Argentine Tango.

If think he should get two Latins out the way while he's still popular (if that is still the case), and then if he survives that (he would probably have to avoid the bottom two) do the Viennese Waltz to remind people what he's good at. That could get him to the semi final, if he survives this week, but it would also depend on how popular others are.

Ok I know at least one person has Argentine Tango this week and its not either Louis or Dani. But as everyone left still has to do the Argentine Tango that doesn't narrow it down much.

Anyway it better be good because its buggered up my week and put me in a really grumpy mood.

Bit odd too - three dances with lifts in a row. And everything in the last three series indicates they consider it a ballroom routine.

Yeah they said it on Radio 2 with Chris Evans. I'd love it if there was an AT dance off between V&F and partners. I can imagine both Louis and Dani would be really good at it.

I needed Michael to have a latin....all his upcoming latin dances are really difficult, I particularly wanted the rumba and paso out of the way

*deep breath* BUT if he gets the really difficult latin dances when there are 2 dances a week to do, his ballroom should knock up the scores
