Good for him, Onions performed well tonight and his sexual preference should make no difference

Is he the cute one btw?

The full interview from The Sun website http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...-Union-Js.html ... he comes across really well - it broke my heart when he was talking about the 14 year old tweeting him

It wasn't hard to guess really. I told my mum the first show that he was gay (she heard somewhere that there was more gay people this year then ever before) and I assumed it was already public knowledge, Maybe my gaydar is just a gooden.

Glad he's gotten it out there straight away thoe so he doesn't get into the trap of previous boy bands pretending to be straight etc

“I didn’t want to do it in five years’ time when I have made money and had a career.”
Oh, my sweet summer child! What do you know about careers? Careers are for the winners...

(If anyone gets this reference I'll be astounded.)

But yeah, "when"—I think the word your looking for is "if", or perhaps if you're feeling a little more wordy, "in the unlikely event that..."

"He says: “I got a tweet from a boy who must have been 13 or 14 asking if the rumours that I was gay were true.

“He said he really wished I could be out because he didn’t have anyone to look up to and was finding it really hard to fit in and tell his parents."

When they showed louis sitting on his lap backstage, I thought that kind of gave it away

Good for him. The dense reactions of some show why it is even today still a brave move,

Ive lost interest in them now, the only thing interesting about them was the mystery about Jaymi's sexuality, but now he's 'come out' I couldn't be bothered with them since there basically shit every week

Also, they are gonna lose a bit of fan base from this

It's not a surprise to anyone I don't think, but why wasn't he honest from the upfront? Week after week it was "the girls vote" pictures with girls etc etc, a true role model would have been out from the start, this is 2012 hardly a big deal to be gay, espically in the music industry.

I feel sorry for his boyfriend seeing him week after week pretending.

The worst quote is the fact that he came out at 14, but was happy to temporary go back in the closet for a shot of fame, being true to yourself is more important than fame and fortune, something that people seem to have forgotten in this celebrity culture we live in.

It's up to an individuals choice if and when they want to come out! So what if he lied? It's hardly illegal!

I think it's a wise move, sooner or later the story would conclusively break, and the longer the pretence had gone on the more the fantasy fans would have felt deceived.

I don't think it will make one iota of difference to their chances in this competition, there's still 3 others for girls to drool over, with George presumably the main focus for that. They were never going to win, and unless they inherit all of District 3's fans I doubt they'd even make it to the Final.

Getting it out of the way will also help Jaymi in the long run, because I'm not sure how long Union J will be around, maybe a few years, but at some point in the future it's perfectly possible that he may embark on a solo career, since his voice is so strong, and then the record label pressure really would have been on him to stay in the closet.

Apart from the XF where winning means unlikly success and coming 5th-2nd gives you a better shot

Although it was known on here before the article, I doubt anyone in the wider voting world knew; so good for him

I'd hardly say he went back into the closet. He didn't need to comment at all, he openly has a boyfriend and he might not have been banging on about it in VTs but it's not like the other ones have been saying how straight they are and he's been joining in. If he is "the gay one" then there are three straight boys in that band, easily justifying the fact the band sing to girls. Boybands are also typically popular with teenage girls, so of course they've been going for the girl vote and having pictures with girls, that's their fan base.

Good on him anyway. He's one of the best singers in the competition and carries union j.

Sadly when stars come out in the Sun it usually means the bastards were about to out them anyway. I hope the X factor will learn from this - there is no need to make non-camp gay people pretend to be straight to get the teen vote, if they are talented they will get the vote from somewhere.
