Next year is a chance to look back and pay tribute to the previous doctors and companions. There are two people I would love to see back . Captain Jack Harkness and the doctors daughter Jenny. Been long enough now. He should find out she is still alive. She went out in the big wide universe to carry on his work/legacy after all.
Might not be the exact line but "Save planets, defeat terrible creatures and do a lot of running". Suppose it depends if Georgia Moffat 5's (Peter davidson)actual daughter and
10's (david tennants) wife is available to film.Who would you ask back ?. You never know you might just get your wish.

My personal wishlist:

Ian Chesterton, Steven Taylor, Jamie, Captain Yates, Romana 2, Tegan, Peri and Ace. Also the Doctors car Bessie!

I think that the only Doctor to get a major role will be 10 and possibly 8, but the others might get a look in in cameo/flashback

Don't disagree with any of those choices but it needs to be story driven and not just fanboy/girl driven. Otherwise I'd rather we had a reunion doco and the show about the making of show.

Both Bakers look too old now, however Davison, McCoy and McGann for the original run could appear okay.

In my singular opinion I don't want to see 'copies', 'clones' or 'gangers' of past who's and companions. Jenny to me is a body with Dr 10's D.N.A in it and not a biological offspring, similarly Dr 10.5 the meta crisis cast off, the human Tennant, the ganger 11th Dr, fun though it was for one story. If anyone is to return it has to be the definite article with some continuity intact.

love mcgann to appear in the 50th anniversary.its a crying shame he has only had one tv story.he would be my no 1 choice to play the 12th doctor when smith packs it in.reckon david tennant is nailed on to appear in the special though.

I think Jenny may have regenerated and has been recast already. Seems odd to have two Jennys in the Doctor's life.

Becasue it such a strange and unusal name!

Than again some people thought Mickey was going to turn out to be Sarah-Jane's secret love child because his surname was Smith and they were right.

He's the 8th Doctor so I would not want to see him playing the 12th.

What they could do though is when Matt wants to leave have a multidoc story with him and McGann and when they part ways we the audience stay with the 8th Doctor.

Once Paul has done a few series they can then bring Matt back for one episode and have him regenerate into Doc 12 (who we then follow, leaving Eight to carry on with his adventures)

This not only puts off the decision to address the Regeneration limit for a few more years it also brings back the Time Lords without actually bringing them back.

Its a bit lazy though. They could have given Vastra's maid a different name. I looked it up and it wasnt a popular name in the Victorian era.

"The name has been in use since the 18th century. Before 1906 the name was fairly uncommon, but it gained some recognition after George Bernard Shaw used it for the main female character in The Doctor's Dilemma"

The Doctors Dilema? Interesting.

I'd be happy with just Jack and all 3 Ponds.

Oh and the Master, but only if he stays John Simm

Frankly I'd like some returnees from the classic series. It'd be shameful to celebrate 50 years of the show to just limit the scope to the last 7 years. It'd be a bit of an insult to its legacy tbh.

And as much as I loved the Ponds, they've just left. Noone's clamouring out for a return ALREADY surely? Their story was pretty conclusively done. Same with Rose, same with Donna.
Jack on the other hand would fit fine.

It would be nice if they could somehow work in Susan, Ian and Barbara

I like Jenny but she was a one episode only character, so she's not as important to bring back. Susan on the other hand would be.

I'd be more excited to see either Eight or Nine because Ten appearing in it is a guarantee, isn't it?

jenny seemed to be a rtd character.if she was going to come back it would have been in his era.just think it was a story he did not think worth a follow up.cant see moffat going back to this tale as we have well moved on since then.

That's an amazing idea. They could theoretically bring back any doc/companion that way, give the current one a break and hey presto. When they're done with that little jaunt then they current doc comes back to either regenerate or continue with more stories. Maybe if that idea had been used in the past one or 2 doctors may have gone on a bit longer than they did. Instead of the Tennant specials we had in 2009 we might have seen him take a break altogether to have McGann or McCoy ( or both?) to have a few episodes, then come back refreshed and ready to do a few more series'.

I can however see some of the general public getting a bit confused or irritated, and switching off, but if it was done right then I'm sure the writers could avoid that happening.

Hardly guaranteed there's no concrete reason to believe there'll even be a multi-Doctor special. My feeling is even that there possibly won't be on the grounds that there are so many more avenues available for celebration now due to the proliferation of channels and while it's probably not too much of a stretch to think that most viewers will be vaguely aware of ten years of a programme's history, expecting them to be aware of fifty years is probably a stretch. That's even before considering the narrative problems.

I think something could be done using the Chameleon Arch. Old Doctors could be made human and the Doctor has to make them remember their past to restore the timeline.

McCoy may look younger but he is in fact the same age as Colin Baker.

Why does that need to happen? Moffat has already introduced a concept in TimeCrash where two Doctors meeting shortens out the time differential making them look older. Even if you don't regard Timecrash as canon it would be a bit silly of Moffat to counter his own idea with something else. I think it's an excellent device to accommodate all returning Doctor's without worrying about them looking older.

And why shouldn't Colin Baker come back? He's only a few years older than Patrick Troughton was in The Two Doctors. Troughton for me is the ultimate example of someone coming back a good twenty years after he started and pulling it off. Pertwee wasn't that far behind him either when he did The Five Doctors.

Plus his jungle exposure would make it more acceptable for him to come back, especially if he does really well in it and survives to the last week.

I really don't forsee any problems with any returning Doctor whatsoever as long as it's handled right.

For the past year the living docs have been asked in various conventions/mags/interviews/stage door questions from fans. They all seem up for it.

Davison would be subject to work commitments and Tom only if the scripts good (and frankly, he has either a large or "integral" part).

Then of course there fees, and they will be negotiating highly for this one !

Hm, a four-pack of Tennant's extras...

Ian Chesterton, Susan, Jo Grant, Romana, Tegan, Peri and Ace would be top of my list, but I would be happy to see just about anyone from the classic series make a comeback.

The only Nu-Who character I would really like to see return is Captain Jack, possibly Martha and Mickey too but the rest should be left alone IMO.
