Did Flavia let Louis down?
I didn't like her AS choreography at all. Could Louis have done much more with the routine he was given?

It was an atrocious routine. Base the AS on a QS by all means. But it is a dance-show, Flavia. Flippin' break-dancing ffs.

Are they getting any help from other choreographer... like Artem he always inviting some dancers outside.
about there AS I think it was not Flavia's expertise... so wait for their AT and expect four 10's. |

I didn't think any of the dances coped very well in the arena setting. The tower ballroom was a much better reward venue.

Flavia doesn't need help with a QS.
Sorry, I've cut Louis a lot of slack but he is SUCH a bot! I so wanted him to be starry but he's just not.... |

Even I could tell that the choreography was poor this week.

As I said on another thread, i thought Flavia's choreography was very clever and different. i thought using both Ray Charles' "i Got A Woman" and Kanye West's "Gold Digger" and switching between the quickstep and hip hop was a great idea, it created an American Smooth that nodded to the 20s and felt completely modern at the same time.
As in the case of Kara and Artem's AS, when you do something that breaks with tradition you run the risk that people won't like it and the judges will penalise you but I agree with Craig: "It doesn't always have to be Fred and Ginge(r)." |

QS to hip-hop?
Doesn't sound a very SMOOTH transition to me. Nor was it. I asked the OH what was the matter. I thought there was a technical error and we'd got interference from another channel. Utterly bemused I was! Like I agree with anything Craig says these days....Ha! The man who loves Lisa! Ha! |

It wasn't Louis and Flavia's best but it wasn't worst of the night by comparison and I think a lot of his footwork was better than Lisa or Nicky can manage.
It's the double-standards that gets on my wick. Louis isn't perfect by any means but no one else is either - inc. DVO who has weirdly ungainly IMO - but the others seem to be given a bit more slack. Darcey's 'tacky trick' comment was harsh when you think of the cheesefests, and clod-hopping dancing she and other judges have admired. |

That was the most badly choreographed American Smooth I've ever seen. Louis danced it well enough but there was an artificial ceiling imposed by Flavia.

In a word - yes.
In a few words - she tried something original that might or might not work in such a big space, and this time, it didn't work. |

There is a tweet from Jimi Mistry that seems to imply there might have been something going on behind the scenes - don't know if this is clutching at straws or the same producer interference that appeared to have burdened Brendan's routine. *shrugs*

It doesn't help that very mediocre dancers are being given inflated scores. Much has been said about Lisa already on here. I love Natalie and I like Michael, but his arms/hands were terrible. Kind of spoiled his dance a bit for me. |

Flavia dropped the ball but she will pick it back up. In my opinion its Louis who is letting Flavia down, we are in week 7 and she still hasnt got him to smile when he is dancing. Come on Louis lighten up. |

Outside choreographers come in for Argentinian tango, charleston - and salsa(?) Think outsiders necessary for both Louis and Nicky. Such a shame really as Louis could possibly have a 10 by now. Sorry all but I don't like Denise and James. |

I feel sorry for Louis he's the second best dancer after Denise IMO and he keeps getting screwed by things that are beyond his control. Last week it was clearly staged judge fight and now Flavia's choreography.

I think she choreographed for the arena but it didn't really work and Louis's heart didn't seem to be in it - break dancing looks a bit desperate in SCD.

I think she did let louis down this week especialy by putting in those gmnastic moves I don't get impressed by that in his routine as at the end of the day those moves are part of his day job so he should be good at that also I felt that it did not fit in with the rest of the dance.
They started off well but seem to be slipping down the leaderboard now. |

I still haven't figured out which decade they were meant to be dancing in, the song's from the 50s, Louis appeared to be dressed as Henry Fonda in The Grapes of Wrath, 40s film in 20s setting, and they bunged in some break dancing 80s/90s

Its one blip.
They have been doing OK apart from this, but without as much progress as say Michael or Dani have shown. It was a very un-Flavia like routine, and there may have been a reason for that. |

It's hard to know who let down who. The choreography was weird and Louis didn't dance his best (or 'perform' it), but for all we know there were things outside their control. Neither looked happy. ![]() Quote:
I agree - I wouldn't be at all surprised if the producers had insisted that the Olympic stars should include something connected to their sports during the Wembley show. It certainly wasn't Brendan or Victoria's idea to include the bicycle which made it very difficult to incorporate that into a paso and I'm sure it wouldn't have been Flavia or Louis choice to include that amount of break dancing to show off his gymnastic skills.
