Why isnt Ella allowed to sing an uptempo song
Most of her "twists" on songs apart from Believe have been questionable.
If she is a big Adele fan surely she should do Rolling In The Deep as its quite uptempo |

You can tell they are slowly trying to mould her into Adele with the styling and the stationary performances but she doesn't come close. What they seem to have forgotten is that as much as Adele is about her unique style and personal lyrics she also has a big personality. I find Ella boring and I don't understand the fuss about her voice which warbles.
Yes I know shes only 16 |

I would love her to do Mercy or Valerie she has that real motown 60's vibe and I think those song choices could really help her IMO

I really liked Ella early on but the formula with each performance is getting very boring. I don't really get the Adele comparison. She reminds me much more of Susan Boyle now.

It's got nothing to do with not being allowed to do one, she'll do one soon enough, she just needs the right uptempo song.

warble, shout, growl, warble shout, growl - one high note and the studio audience goes wild. They don't give her up tempo songs because she has proved that her singing has some annoying flaws when she does try them. |

![]() The girl needs to let go and have some fun instead of turning up-tempos into dreary ballads, written in the stars anyone?

A bit like Leona in her series did almost all slow songs, aside from disco week when she performed Lady Marmalade uptempo.
But back then it was considered ok to sing them like the original and not have to twist every song to make it "their own". If they want them to do their own songs, make them sing originals. |

I find it interesting that Ella is allowed to do everything in her style, but Janet wasn't allowed to.
They made Janet dance to Mmm Bop, it's no surprise she forgot the words being so far out of her comfort zone. But nobody has challenged, or even hinted at challenging Ella. |

It's a shame because she was my favourite of those remaining, but in the past couple of weeks I've got very bored and Jahmene has overtaken her. Plus, even though I don't like James, I actually enjoy his performances more than Ella's now.

She sent me into a comma last night! Awful rendition and arrangement of the song. It was as if it was a piss-take rendition a la Peter Griffin singing a slow rendition of "Bird is the Word" in Family Guy to his in-laws!

The old format of the show when it was still good was to purposely force them out of their comfort zones at times by introducing categories like big band week, disco week, rock week etc.
They still have the categories but it still seems to be an "anything you want" week, every week. They ruined Rhydian's chances of winning too by turning him boring in the last few weeks too. |

Maybe if they dressed her like a 16 year old...and especially lay off the heavy lipstick they wouldn't have to keep reminding us. She looks like she's stuck in the 1940s.

You just want everyone to sing Karaoke.
![]() OH and to answer the question OP, because she isn't capable of pulling off an up-tempo song...her trying to dance was a complete mess.

Alexandra Burke was 'only 19', yet she was doing everything from powerful Whitney ballads to full on uptempo performances complete with original Britney choreography....Ella is overhyped and just rubbish. She is not versatile and her vocals are mediocre.

From next week they will be doing two songs, so surely she won't be allowed to get away with two ballads

No. There are ways of making an up-tempo song your own instead of turning them to yawn-festing ballads or karaoke as you claim.
