84 year old Bruce to be replaced by 82 year old Ronnie Corbett
Yes, at 84 Bruce is now too old. Time to step aside for a much younger man like youngster Ronnie Corbett aged just 82.

The BBC are completely bonkers if they give it to another old man

If true, they obviously think the old-time presenter with young dolly bird scenario is a winner. And with Corbett, they'll be no end of height jokes looking at the difference between him and Tess in her towering heels.
Hopefully, they'll take their time and listen to viewers - fat chance! After all the next series (if there is one) doesn't start for another 11 months. |

According to OMG they're considering Ronnie Corbett (please no!) Claudia, and Anton among others in case Bruce decides to quite at the end of this series. If he's read comments and reviews on his performance this year, Bruce will definitely quit - or perhaps his ego is so big he doesn't believe them.

As long as they let Ronnie control the material he would be much funnier than Bruce.

Surely this is regurgitated from several years back - is there a current source for this? I have to know - should I start not watching now or just go cold turkey next year

I don't think you need to worry that there won't be another series of SCD. We definitely need to worry about Bruce presenting it though. His ego is so enormous he's never going to give the job up voluntarily - and boy he really should. My blood pressure goes through the roof every time he starts on the "just look at them" routine. He really is a doddery old fool now.

Sir Bruce should carry on for as long as he wants.

More ageism from the BBC- getting rid of the older guy for a younger fresher face in Corbett.

I thought that the week before last, when Sir Bruce wasn't in it, was rather better than usual.
It pains me to say it, I didn't think that SCD would be the same without him, but I've been fast forwarding through his 'jokes' and fill ins, it's tragic. He really needs to retire, and I don't think they should get anyone to 'replace' him, they've already got everyone they need. |

Relacing Bruce Forsyth with Ronnie Corbett is an absolutely ridiculous idea! The BBC is really out of touch, if they're seriously considering that. Tess and Claudia have already proven themselves to be a good team and the Beeb should just let them get on with it.

Brucie is one of the best things about it. In our house it's the old-school Saturday night entertainment factor that draws us in. If Ronnie were to replace him it would be carrying on that tradition. The audience love it.

I don't think so. Corbett 'stood in' for Bruce some time back and was generally judged to have been a superfluous disaster.

I don't believe this. Much as I love him in other things, it didn't work at all when they tried. It's either to make us keen for Bruce to stay or to make whoever they have in mind sound good in comparison. Or Ronnie Corbett's agent is hoping to start a campaign.

![]() Ronnie is a legend but it seems incomprehensible to replace Sir Bruce with him. The question of eventual replacement is an impossible one and it certainly says something of Strictlys status that people get so heated about it. All of the suggested names from Barrowman to Anton to Vernon Kay to Graham Norton all provoke hostility from various posters, so as someone said, maybe its best to leave it to Tess and Claudia. |

can only think the best person to take over from Bruce would be Terry Wogan - he can handle live tv effortlessly, can ad-lib, presented the original Come Dancing way back in the day and it's a great excuse to get him back on the telly - but saying that I thought Claudia & Tess were excellent, Claudia can ad lib brilliantly

Please. No more OAPs. Can we have someone a bit younger that can read the autocue. I thought Terry struggled a bit in CIN. I'm an OAP and I want someone younger.

I think CiN will always be fraught as they have so many feeds coming in constantly and they're all piped to the presenters live whilst they're working - Strictly is simples by comparison. Most of the younger presenters mentioned higher up this item will want themselves to be the focus rather than the dancers imho - Tel has been there and done it, nothing to prove

Plan B: spread lots of rumours about unsuitable candidates so that when Anton takes over everybody is relieved.
Tess, when I make the effort to actually hear her is too often annoying, but Claudia is sharp. |
