I just watched Janet Devlin's audition(x factor 2011) for the first time
She seemed to have such an amazingly unique voice that I wondered why she didn't go far.I hardly watched any of xfactor 2011 as I was away travelling a lot that year. Can someone who watched tell me why she didn't seem to have gone far in that series.Watching the audition, the judges and those in the room all seemed to love her.She got a standing ovation!

she forgot the words too umm bop.
The words to um bop are "um bop". and they dyed her hair ginger - bad move. |

She topped the votes for a lot of the weeks but as the live shows went on it was like she stopped trying and 'forgot the words' like twice, she got quite far though.

What was interesting about her voice in her audition soon became boring and repetitive. People lost interest.

You should check out her rendition of Mmm Bop, no idea what week it was but it has entered folklore as "the day the music died"

She was given some of the most horrible song choices last year. But she still did really good!!!

I think as the competition went on, Janet realised what kind of artist she didn't want to be and sort of gave up. I'm sure her original material will be better than her run on the show.

The words to um bop are "um bop". and they dyed her hair ginger - bad move. And, ironically, it's MMMBop, not um bop. |

She peaked too soon, I think her best performance was her audition and she never really met that standard again so she lost votes as others picked them up. A few bad performances in the lives took their toll and she went from topping the vote for the first few weeks to being overtaken by several others. She made top 5 though so still made it pretty far.

I never really understood the whole "she's so unique!
" argument about Janet. She was basically Aldi's answer to Ellie Goulding (with a little Dolores O'Riordan and Diana Vickers thrown in) proven by her complete carbon copy of "Your Song" at her audition.

In a way Ella could be a victim of peaking too soon also. Her version of Believe was ace and we're all waiting for her to top it. I hope she makes the finals and gets the opportunity to perform it again.

An absolute travesty that she never won, she was way ahead of everyone else last year.

Song choice if you ask me and I really thought that Kelly gave up on her and maybe didn't even like her that much.
Also for some reason the public didn't warm to her much either. |
