Afternoon!
Feels a bit strange to have things to catch up with here again. But good!
Glad you enjoyed the start of the rewatch.
I just watched the clips to, and it does feel so weird - but in a good way. It was such a long time since any of the characters were treated with much care and respect, and here they were.
Loved the scenes with Masood and Jane - this is exactly how those two should always have been together, I feel. Good friends, maybe with a little extra tingle there somewhere, but still respectful of each other and their respective relationship.
The scenes with the book club were awesome - Nina is so hilarious/Total news to you all, I know...
And don't even get me started on Zainab and Masood and their relationship. It is so wonderful and imperfectly perfect here. Already in these few minutes it is nuanced and they're (also, already in these few, few minutes) allowed to be well-rounded characters with more than one trait, and so is their relationship. /No, I'm not over what was done to them.
And then... Syed!! So, so young looking, it's amazing. And Zainab is so incredibly happy to see him, and whatever faults she has, and whatever she's about to do in the not so distant future, no one can doubt that she actually loves him. Tptb may not have done the actual storytelling much justice, but I personally think it's pretty clear that Zainabs absolute and genuine love for Syed would have shone through in the end, won over all her fears and prejudice - as it did.

Thinking back to when Syed first arrived, I remember there being so much anticipation for him because he'd been mentioned so often beforehand and it was obvious that he was estranged from the family. I remember lots of discussion on DS that he was gay and this was why he was estranged! Of course, that was spot on about him being gay but not why he was estranged! : D
I've just watched a few of my early Christian clips (15-22 Jan 08)....it's easy to forget that he was once engaged before meeting Syed! He was such a bitch when he first arrived, but so charismatic with it....despite that hair!
I love how he winds Ian up and the way Ian's trying to be so PC but is uncomfortable with Christian's presence but Christian plays on this
and I love how Christian winds Steven up too, winking at him when they meet! and it's so great seeing Chroxy's first meeting and how she fancies him and doesn't realise he's gay at first : p
and actually, I've just realised something. If you compare Chryed's separate arrivals, they're actually very similar....both a bit lost and trying to be something they're not. Syed this flashy businessman who actually doesn't have any money at all and Christian marrying some older guy he doesn't really love and is just using him for his money. and both being estranged from their families too!
They were so meant to be together : D”
Hello Laura, hope you enjoyed the rewatch as well!
BiB: You've got a very good point there I think. There's always talk about how different Syed and Christian are, and they are, but there really are lots of similarities as well.
Just as you say, they were both a bit lost, they were lonely, they were both sort of putting up fronts towards the world, because they'd both found out how tough it could be and they were both unsure if they could show anyone their "real selves", their full selves. So they do understand that in each other, if you know what I mean. Not sure I'm making any sense at all here, sorry... What I wanted to say was that through their experiences they were able to be the ones that actually, truly saw each other, the very core of each other. They were totally meant to be. Always.

Hello and welcome

! Hope you're enjoying yourself here.
It's
SO amazing and fantastic to have people joining here almost a year after Christian and Syed actually left EE.

It's SUCH a testament to the story, the characters and to Johnny and Marc. And this may sound all wrong and strange, I know, but that fact, and the fact of CCC last weekend and the organized rewatch making this place live a little again makes me feel just a leeetle bit like Chryed (and WFCTGIO) has actually, sort of won against TPTB and the way they treated them. It's like Chryed and WFCTGIO has the last word and the last laugh after all

And that feels good to me
Love to all! xxx
