See, he is gorgeous, but I remember writing him off the second he clicked that car key fob, thinking 'typical slimy business man, not interested'.

How wrong I was!
I really don't remember what I thought at that point?

Anyone else not entirely convinced by Syed's business plan?

Zainab giving Syed money, just like his last Walford financial pickle.
Business-wise he really didn't learn anything, did he?

(Yay, I see people in the preview pane. )

First episode:

It's a little hard to watch Syed being so fake, but it's sad too - he clearly loves his mum and is trying so hard to impress her. And she is so desperate to believe it, even though things obviously aren't quite adding up. Very sad, and what feels like a very realistic dynamic...

Marc and Nina's chemistry is FABULOUS, they spark off each other so well. Love him winding her up and knowing her so well - 'The Incredible Sulk' and 'Spit it out, Mum'.

And 3 years later he's back to doing the same thing.

It's what makes the Masoods a great family. Nina and Marc's chemistry, Nina and Nitin's chemistry, Marc and Himesh, Marc and Johnny...

Love that quote! Reminds me too of James telling Christian his 'nice flat' doesn't mean anything if there's no one to share it with (or something like that) - another parallel.

Anyone else not entirely convinced by Syed's business plan?
It's terrible. One of those times I can't help but wonder whether the business-y dialogue is meant to be slightly awkward and a bit rubbish because Syed is terrible at business - one of the few consistent character traits over all his years in EE - or because the writer is a writer rather than someone who knows about property and things.

Wonder who the writer is actually? I loved all the banter.

And a Bushra mention! She was there from the beginning
I miss Bushra. Looking forward to seeing her soon!

Alex, sweetie, you're talking like 2012 happened. We've talked about this.

On to the next one...

So he stole the money four years ago, and lived in Leeds for three, so where was he in that missing year...?

I hate that TPTB pretended that he was just the Same 3 years later, after all that's happened. It would have been like a sugar daddy coming by, waving some cash at Christian and he'd dump Syed in a flash.

I love how easy things are between Z and Syed, they fall back into joking conversation as if he'd never been away. You can see how much they love each other, no matter what has happened. Great to watch how much he enjoys teasing her, lol. But poor Z, she trusts him too much. I think he was totally playing her about the condos, even if it tried to turn down the money initially, and even if he does want to reunite with his family.
The scenes with Masood really show the triangle in this family, how Z has always taken her son's side and how she keeps things from Mas. It's the same until the very end, isn't it? Mas's anger and frustration is so understandable.
I liked Laura's comments yesterday about how Sy and Christian have similarities in their early, Pre-Chryed scenes. Christian is nasty and bitchy, and Sy is dodgy and hiding the truth. But they are both so charming, what can you do but be attracted to them?

Loved the dialogue with M as well, great dynamics. Lovely to see M cares for him, even though their relationship is so troubled.

Have to mention the cheap looking suit again. *shudders*

Having consulted the spread sheet, I can declare that both the ep where Syed arrives and that one were written by Richard Davidson.
That is why they are so good.
