Greetings All,
I,m impressed there are still Chryed fans Greetings All!, I,m impressed there are Chryed fans here after all this time! An indication of the relevance of the Chryed storyline to our everyday life-perhaps? To all those who viewed this story as important for our culture,or those who just loved a mixed race gay romance,I salute you.Whatever your motivation,Our discoursrse was important for us,if not for others. As a point of common interest,it was invaluable, for those who loved this story for it,s humanity and it,s everyday relevance as a story of love against the odds. I miss those who voiced such strong views on such a difficult subject and hope their acceptance of difference has translated to "real life".We are all the richer for their belief,if this has happened,Perhaps,we are more accepting than we thought-I truly hope so. I wish all my fellow Chryedians well--live happy and believe we are all the same. ![]() Hi. Long time no speak. I miss the busyness of the thread too, not just the discussions but the general happy atmosphere. I would really like a reunion with everyone, but most people have left for good unfortunately. ![]() xxxxx |

Not that I like his face or his voice. Nick Hennegan @NHennegan · 2 hrs Any questions for former #Eastenders #actor Marc Elliot? He’s live on @resonancefm Fri at 7pm. Tweet or email nick@mavericktheatre.co.uk. LondonLiteraryPubs @LiteraryPubs · 2 hrs Any questions for former #Eastenders #actor Marc Elliot? He’s live on @resonancefm Fri at 7pm. Tweet or email nick@mavericktheatre.co.uk. Even if you can't listen (I can't!) hopefully some kind person will let you know the answers to any questions. My question could well be Marc, how come you decide to do a radio interview on the day I go on holiday?!

Someone who is kind enough to put the questions here, and of course the
responses. Play a snippet of the interview not be bad either. * Am I asking too much? Case of Marc nothing is too much. Thank you! |

Hi. Long time no speak. I miss the busyness of the thread too, not just the discussions but the general happy atmosphere. I would really like a reunion with everyone, but most people have left for good unfortunately.
![]() xxxxx Where have they all gone? All those very serious and determined commentators on a serious social dilemma? It is very sad that these people have now lost their voice.Where are all these now? Are we to forget everyone who had so much to say?Apparently so-things move on--but at the time it was important. If it was then-then it should be now.Sadly it appears not. It,s as it is--but as an important thing at it,s time ,it,s a pity it has so little relevance now. It would seem that those who had so much to say at the Chryed peak have now zero to say.A sign of the transient message of the internet interest. All those who were here when Chryed were an item have vanished--it,s sad,but not unexpected. I do wonder where they all are---those who were soopionated--it,s very sad,but life moves on,and other things become more important. I always tried to be "One of the gang"--but never got there thereI never knew why, but, somehow,it never happened.I suspect it came from my original post when I joined the thread- I forever tried to fit in,but it was a pointless exercise. It never happened, but I tried over time to be relevant. It was a salutary lesson that if you don,t fit in,you never will.As a lesson on Internet Bullying-it was a salutary lesson--I am a mature and uncaring person--if I,m not acceptable,so be it.Sadly for a young and impressionable person, this would have been unbearable--perhaps a lesson to others that an attempt to fit in should be greeted as important. It is too late for me--but for those who are younger--give them a break----Please!! Chryed are over.Sad but true. But for those still here,Go for it!The premise is still here---Multicultural,mixed race, relationship, and gay to boot.It still happens. We are people, whatever we are. Best wishes to all those who feel the need to be here.I won,t be back again, but wish all of you happiness and contentment in all your endeavours

Hiya, I don't post anymore but I do lurk now and again.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience on this thread and will forever look back with lovely fond memories I shared with posters who enjoyed watching the Chryed relationship as much as I did (let's forget everything Kirkwood onwards yeah? -_- ). Speaking as someone who is big on fandom, I still consider this the best, most funniest and brilliant thread I've ever been part of. Never have I laughed so hard. Never have I felt so unified in something fictional. Never have been part of such awesome online collective. I will always say this is the best fandom I've ever been part of. Awesome posters, awesome opinions. While we used to get mocked and ridiculed on the main forum, I knew that we had some of the most articulate posters on this thread who just "got it". Cairogirl, you are right. Life DOES move on. I don't post about Chryed anymore. Why? Because they're over and have been for nearly two years now. As much as I like Marc and Johnny and wish them all the best in their future endeavours, I don't have a large amount of interest in their careers post EE. I will continue to keep "up to date" in what they're doing, but I'm not passionate about following them as I were, Christian and Syed. If I fancy seeing them in a show of some kind, I will and I'll do that because I want to but I don't have a deep interest to see or follow them in everything. For me, and I just speak for myself, it was the Chryed story that bought me here. Not Christian, not Syed. Not Marc, not Johnny but Chryed. Now that's over, they exist as a pleasant memory, as do the many fans on this thread. I still miss discussing Chryed with MT, VF, Starfish, Dessie, Alex, Mercuyphonix and SO many more. I was one of those opinionated posters who had ALOT to say about Christian and Syed, the many layers to the storyline and the many real life Christian and Syed's out there. However since we have no content to see, it all becomes kind of a moot point for me. Yes, the many cultural and social issues that the story gave us still exist today. That hasn't changed and neither has it been forgotten but Christian and Syed acted as a mirror for a reflection for those opinions. Our well-thought out views bounced of Christian and Syed, four times a week, 52 weeks a year. Since they're not here anymore and haven't been for two years, it's only natural that this thread would not discussing the many facets to the story. Christian and Syed are no longer a dynamic. This thread is a platform for people to continue sharing thier appreciation for the couple if they wish and its great that some have, no matter how little. I have to hand it all those who have kept this thread alive in what ever way they can and I think it's absolutely wonderful that they still feel so passionately about them to still post about Chryed. However I never expected this thread to be active once they left. It's just the way it is. I’ve seen it happen so many times over the years to different pairings. Just like John Paul and Craig in HO, Ronnie/Jack EE and many other large appreciation threads, once the couple ceases to exist, the online activity is immensely reduced or non existent. |

For me it was the bravery of the writers and producers, the commitment from Marc and Johnny to get the story believable, and the presence and power the storyline had on screen that bought me here. To see something like that on screen, and for me it was the first time, really opened my eyes. I mean, sure, i believed homosexuals should have the same rights as heterosexuals, neck i even wrote an essay on it. And sure, i knew that some had a really bad time, but watching Chryed made me realise the true extent of those issues and gave me a stronger voice in supporting them. They may have gone, but Chryed left a legacy that will never die. xxxxx |

xxxxx It used to really irk me how some detractors, or shall I say trolls, would suggest that Chryed were only popular because it was too hot guys. I don't think I've ever heard the term fangirl so much in my life. ![]() Regardless of damage Kirkwood did, nothing can take away that it was a groundbreaking story and a story that was completely original and it's own. It was a real first for soap and the story was a big success for EastEnders during its time. To achieve such a large following as a result speaks absolute volumes. Let's see if Ben and Johnny achieve the same level of success (let's face it, it's gonna happen, the pairing I mean. ).

Absolutely and you've said it so much better than I have. The storyline "Chryed" would never have been a success had it not been from the impeccable performances from Marc and Johnny (aswell as Nina and Nitin), not to mention the writing and of course DTC - the brains behind the story. It goes without saying, it takes a collective to make a story work. Without the story, I would have never been a fan. It was the underlying issue of Syed's religion and the opposition from his family coupled with his soul-consuming love for Christian that bought me here. So for me to say, I'm a fan of "Chryed", it is not just restricted to the sole characters as I understand and agree that there were wider parameters involved in making Chryed the success that it was. I'd have never engaged with them if it was just another gay couple who just happened to have chemistry.

Its also because of that storyline, and the storyline in other soaps, that today's generation are growing up with the acceptance for it a lot more than the older generations did. The power media has ever people's opinions in incredibly strong, and EE utilised that power brilliantly, so i commend them for that. ![]() xxxxx |

xxxxx No possum, you didn't. The relentless passage of time has taken its toll, that's all. As Katrina said, "Christian and Syed are no longer a dynamic", and though we all still remember them and their story with much love, I personally don't believe we can keep reliving it all with the same fervour we had when it was all so new, fresh and thrilling. I keep hearing Syed saying to Amira ( in the 'Hands/Reunion episode, Jan 6th, 2012. ) ..."Let me go" and though I sometimes still look back at an old screen cap or two now and then, I feel ready. ( Although, LOL, look at the date I popped in for a visit ... LOL October 16th ....... 2nd Wedding Anniversary. What a hoot!!! )Look after yourself, possum (and anyone else who happens by and sees this.) To everyone here, thanks for everything, for the memories, it's been wonderful. VIVA CHRYED. "We will always have Walford" CHRYED, I carry your heart with me. ( I carry it in my heart ) * Soppy old thing, me * XXxxxx

Wow......
Its been an incredibly long time since Ive posted on this thread......It feels so bizarre to be doing it again, it used to be like second nature to me. Just to give a timeframe 3 maybe even 4 years ago this place was my sanctuary. I have to admit I havent lurked since Chryed departure but life always distracts you I suppose. For some unknown reason perhaps curiosity, I had a little lurk on the thread tonight and it hasnt been touched in two months! Our wonderful little sphere of common interest seems to be ever shrinking,( and the humour, passion, intelligent discourses and smut of course! that came with it). Im feeling particularly mournful of this fact. In my head I always felt this place would live on forever, like that period in my life. I really hope Im not the last person to post on this thread. I just wanted to leave a little kiss of life while passing through. This place carries many memories. Hopefully it will continue to exist. Love an old friend |

I'm gonna message the mods, and ask for the thread to be shut down forever. This a momentous decision, but one that has to be done. *closes the door to the Arms the final time* Goodbye Chryedville. RIP. |

Looks like this thread is still open since the last message posted. (the one above)
I really think it ought to be closed down since the Chryed story is now finished and over with. And I sincerely doubt there's absolutely no possibility of either of them returning in the foreseeable future either. I am missing this particular story as one of my favourites so far. So all I can say is, farewell to them, and hope they continue to live a very happy and healthy future, wherever it may take them! ![]() I still continue to watch Eastenders as one of my favourite soaps, and eventually, as the story unwound, Masood and Zainab's marriage broke down to a complete halt, and inevitably the actress who played Zainab (Nina Wadia) left Eastenders ages ago now, leaving just Masood and Tamwar (still in the programme) to toddle on in the background with nothing really interesting or exciting currently addeed to their acting, apart from a new and young female cousin to arrive at some point, (who goes by the name of Shabnam) but meh.... new character, but still nothing interesting or exciting happening since Chryed left. Steve john Shepherd who played Michael Moon - his character was killed off in a big storyline at some point, and yet, his thread is still open too, which shocks me a little. I don't understand why either of these are not closed down yet! So yep.... come one mods..... please close down these 2 entire threads sometime soon!

I'm watching EE and wanted to come on and say hello but...where are you all? I miss this place, the people, the conversation, the fandom as a whole. I miss it all.
To put it in perspective, this thread was started over three years ago. Whatever happened to the threads that were opened and closed within 24 hours?! Since watching Nitin and Himesh's Back to our's the other night, I've been re-watching Chryed again. Like I said, I miss them and this place. It's sad that it's so dead around here. Maybe with a bit of Christian screentime during the 30th, it'll pick up slightly. Maybe there'll be a post everyday as opposed to every 12 months. As I'm posting this, Seal's version of SBM that was played during the CP is on the episode, in the pub. AND Masood reminiscing about Zee and the Argee Bhargee. I love Shabs and Kush together, they're cute. Aww

I was watching the Greatest Cliffhangers thing on BBC3- it's really good, btw, definite to-watch if you're interested in EE as a whole- and Syed was like... 53rd (?) I was really impressed; he wasn't even in the last one, so to go from none to halfway up is really impressive, especially when he appeared in about 4 episodes in 2012. Anyway, Syed's bit was really cute (I don't really remember Christian's last week, except when the announcer person said 'more on that later' cos obviously they can't even have an appearance on a list show without being a part of the other's ). Johnny was saying lovely things, like how he was genuinely crying at the wedding (I'm sure we're all shocked...) and how it was important that viewers who were invested in it got a happy ending. And then he made me laugh by going 'even if it was to Birmingham, there's no sunsets there', saying Birmingham like it tasted horrible. It was hilarious. Sorry, Brummies. Also, I sat genuinely tensed because I was convinced the D**** stuff was going to be shown, especially after they showed the wedding. But they didn't. Clearly they're content to pretend it never happened, as am I. The Masood and Zainab ones weren't as good as Syed's, though, focusing on the Jane and Yusef stuff unfortunately. After watching 'Back To Ours' the other day, I've seen that Jane/Masood hotel room TWICE in two days... I wonder what I've done to deserve that. It was clearly bad. I haven't watched any Chryed in forever... maybe I will now. The Cliffhanger thing tonight made me sooo nostalgic. |

I'm also very pleasantly surprised to know that Christian (Johnny Partridge) will be returning for his sister, jane's (Laurie Brett) wedding next week, and I'm looking forward to it. I didn't think we would see him, or maybe Syed again one day. (since a part of Syed's family is still living in Walford) My eyes will be glued to the t.v. for that next week, but also because I've been following the "who killed Lucy" storyline, and can't wait to find out who killed her.
I'm thinking Christian will only be there for his sister's wedding, and nothing longer than that. But I'm still looking forward to it all the same.

On another note, I did find it odd how after the live episode (everyone acted their socks off btw!!) that both Christian and Tanya left without dropping into to say goodbye. Christian is so close to his sister and yet she leaves her own wedding reception early and is clearly having a crisis and yet Christian doesn't even drop in to see if she's okay? Nor Tan? That is literally my only plot gripe from the week, all in all it was amazing, the whole Beale family were astonishing, paticularly Adam and Laurie. More awards are beckoning, I'm sure. |
