Yeah, I do know what you mean They needed to 'create' distance between Syed and his whole family in order for him to 'connect' with Danny. Except they never really did 'create' that distance...it was just there all of a sudden - so I get what you mean when you say EE's warped POV

I dunno, as above, I had to really try to make the whole storyline hang together even before the twist - there was no build up, it was all so half arsed. And then the twist just finished me off, I'm afraid. I wonder whether this is what Marc meant by viewers not being 100% happy (he didn't even seem to be when he tried to explain why Syed couldn't say ILY) - I'm happy they left together, but the exit was a painful mess.

Sorry, didn't mean to write that much - one day I'll get over it

Great post Lyra re Christian not crossing a line over Yasmin, btw - I do tend to agree

I took this as Marc will get feedback, letters from fans etc but not just about Syed and Christian as a couple but Syed for his own sake and also as part of the Masoods.

So he would know that if it was a 'happy' ending people wanted then they might be happy...at least they were going together.
But say if you wanted them to leave as a unit with Yasmin you wouldn't be and of course if you cared about how they finished Syed's storyline with regards to his characterisation ...again ...there was nothing to be happy about unless you can blank out the last few weeks.

Awww thanks for the comments on my post I wasn't sure I made any sense but I guess I must have lol.

And just to add, Syed having little interest in Yasmin was the way it was written in the storyline, it came across on screen that Christian was Yasmin's main carer and that Syed was busy working and not having much interest in her, that's all I meant
Having seen Syed be a pretty doting dad whenever he got the opportunity from the moment he ever held Yasmin I wouldn't have assumed that just because he was stressed and busy with work for those few weeks, that he wasn't showing interest in her. Yasmin was living with them then so I just assumed that it happened at night, early morning etc.

I see (I think).

I have to say, I don't think I would ever be arsed enough to actually write to ME personally about why I was unhappy with the story - DS is the place for me to do that (sorry).

And I'm trying hard to blank out the last few weeks...I'm trying to imagine they left in May with Yasmin number 1 and Chryed were replaced with Christian number 2 and Syed number 2 - imposters

We rarely got to see this on screen though. On screen, it sometimes seemed like he couldn't wait to hand her over to Christian on the rare occasion we were allowed to see him holding her. There was just very little interaction with her on screen for much of the year. So we don't really know what it may have been like off screen. On screen, it was written that Christian was her main carer, spending time with her and bonding with her, and Syed was off trying to save his business and arranging secret meetings with Danny etc, It's just the way it was portrayed on screen. Like the way it's portrayed on screen that Christian looks after Amy a lot more than Jack....I'm sure Jack spends time with her off screen but we rarely see it on screen!

So that's what I'm talking about - what's portrayed on screen, not what may or may not be happening off screen. Cos I guess characters become pretty irrelevant when they're off screen. as ours were way too much sadly

I think that's just it - as a Chryed fan, I'm happy with how things ended (considering I expected things to be much worse, with Chryed leaving under a black cloud with no kiss, no handhold, certainly no sex and with Christian going to the airport and not turning back until Syed shouted his name ) but as a Syed fan, I'm really quite unhappy. virtually no one on the MF liked him by the time he left and according to the storyline, he's useless at almost everything and not as good a father as Christian.

Dan2008 was one of the few viewers who enjoyed Chryed's final episode, which is something at least, since he's usually fair in his reviews and doesn't go off on one about how 'terrible' Eastenders is right now.

I had to laugh at those who like Ava so far, all I thought was 'give it time, this is Eastenders'

But we did see Syed onscreen with Yasmin a lot. It was only those few weeks that we didn't, hence why I wouldn't have assumed that he'd just lost interest just because we weren't given scenes suddenly. I pretty much knew that was so we got more Yasmin/Christian to up the angst for when they split.

Don't be sorry but we know people do because Marc's either replied to them or mentioned that he hears from fans. Plus people he meets too. I know the first time I met him I mostly talked about Syed and Masood for example..so knowing that I imagine that would influence if Marc thought fans he'd heard from would be happy. He must know some wouldn't be too I'd imagine.

At last bit..I think that's the best way.

This totally...it was horrible to see any progress totally undone...and in fact any faults blown up and repeated and actually added to...he never ran when he was 19 for instance...he was banished by his dad. Everybody elses mistakes seemed to have been forgotten by them too as they laid into him and we were left with all that I'm trying business. Well up to a few weeks before he was succeeding in being a pretty good bloke. But hey ho... (and away we go!).

Hmmm the whole 'step parent' issue is difficult. I imagine they'll share and discuss decisions and issues with Yasmin (as much as Amira allows - C will have to respect any reasonable boundaries she lays down whether either of Chryed like it).

It's more likely that Amira will dominate the parenting stuff anyway, even with shared custody. That's the norm.

I get what you mean, I'm just not sure 'little interest' is the right phrase? Syed was working and Christian was the main caregiver but I don't think it meant he had little interest in Yasmin, just that he didn't look after her as much as Christian and was preoccupied with trying to sort his mountain of debt, whilst knowing that she was in safe and totally fine in Christian's care. I'm not sure that made sense but yeah.

Yeah, I do know what you mean They needed to 'create' distance between Syed and his whole family in order for him to 'connect' with Danny. Except they never really did 'create' that distance...it was just there all of a sudden - so I get what you mean when you say EE's warped POV

Oh, I had to try as well but I could just about make it work - and usually as long as I can do that, I'm fine. But god that twist. Thanks a bunch EE.:sleep::sleep:

Evening all,

OMG! The con DVD apparently has arrived at my home address and my dad has opened it. Was there any indication on the DVD that it was related to Chryed i.e. picture ?? (anyone know??)... and therefore have I just been outed as a Chryedian because of a dvd (having flashbacks of Max and stacey affair reveal here). Ahhh I should have done a Chryed and tried to intercept the post Completely forgot I had given my home address and not my uni address

Btw, this does not mean that I'm not grateful for the dvd, I'm sure it will be absolutely brilliant to watch ! ...I'm just really...embarrassed atm because my family will probably want an explanation .

I think it just had 'Chryedcon' written on the DVD and the con email address! Your dad shouldn't have opened your post  just say that if he asks!

Phew! Loll thanks for getting back to me!! Ok that's good, I don't think he'll know what 'Chryed' or indeed anyone in my household will know what that means *prays they won't google it*.
I was speaking to my mum on the phone just a moment ago and she was the one that told me that my dad had open it to which I did respond with 'why is he opening my post, I don't open his.' etc etc . I think she got the message loud and clear what she needs to pass on to my dad

No probs there were definitely no pictures or anything anyway! He might have just seen it was a DVD and put it back...hopefully! Although if it was my mum she'd have opened it and watched the DVD by the time I returned home :sleep:

Hi lovelies,

I've been in a nostalgic mood today and remembered the good times on here. Somehow I ended up preparing a list (I like lists:sleep with ten things I'm going to miss when the thread will come to an end. Thought I'd share:

1. Clothes and hair discussion (loved how we were always able to link ‘the Precious’ to the state of Syed’s mind and the boys relationship)

2. Page 69 (remember celebrating thread 69 with smutty fics etc. –we’ve clearly lost it)

3. Flower/vase debates… and…

4. Smut in general

5. Friday/Saturday nights with a glass (well, a bottle) of wine and endless chatting about Chryed (or other topics like QAF, German soap couples, Häagen Dazs ice cream, football and so many other important subjects)

6. Surveys. I have no idea how many hours I’ve spent poring over all those favourite/least favourite episodes/scenes… always loved doing that and reading all the answers from everyone else (Dessie, thank you for the lateat one, it's on my ToDo-list…)

7. Analyzing (and over-analyzing) every little detail of Chryed’s (or other characters) behaviour

8. What exactly happened after the first kiss discussion

9. Learning new English vocabulary every day (believe it or not, three years ago I had no idea what a ‘blackhole’ was; the word ‘spoiler’ was totally alien to me; bonkersness –never learned that one in school…)

10. Having our own little world where everyone knows what you mean when you talk about ‘clown shirt’ or ‘golf outfit’, where ‘too’ is more than just a word, where being able to recite complete scenes of a soap is not weird but proper normal, where ‘proper normal’ makes you think of ‘sad old queen’ and seagulls make you think of Pakistan… (I could go on with this forever)

Well, I guess there are another hundred things I’m going to miss – first and foremost it’ll be the wonderful people on here, the respectful and enthralling conversation, the witty and sarcastic commentary…and basically all the fun we’ve had over the years
xx

Hey I got my chryedcon in the mail yesterday. I was surprised because I thought mine would be a few weeks.

2 questions - I have only had a sneek look at the dvd cause I want to have some alone time to watch it. I saw the clips of you meeting Marc at the backstage door. Marc had a interesting hat on is this the latest uk hat accessory for winter or is that Marc being quirkly Also did you tell him you were having your chryedcon the next day and what was his response? Thanks for sharing.....

I may be way off but I noticed earlier talk about the SCD Christmas special when I was reading about Strictly and I notice on here about JP making an announcement this week.

Could they be connected...since we have seen Johnny in the audience and on ITT. It's just a hunch and my hunches are usually way off and it may not fit with panto...although a singing slot might? I have no idea...but the only reason I'm mentioning it is that ticket applications for the show (it's filmed Dec 3rd and I'm busy) close tomorrow (Thursday)...at 10pm

http://www.bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/s...christmas_2012

I think last year the contestants were then announced so the timing could all fit.
So it may be worth applying just in case before it's too late and if I'm wrong at least you didn't miss out and it would probably be fun anyway?

As a trained dancer I'd imagine he wouldn't be allowed to take part? Though I may be way off!! He would be awesome as a judge though!

I applied for tickets to this yesterday, I do every year but never get lucky apart from when I got to go to last year's Wembley show!

I'd love to see him on Strictly but would he be considered too much of a pro? I mean, he trained with Darcey Bussell at the Royal Ballet School so I dunno whether he'd be allowed to take part as he's classically trained in dance? They may as well not bother with the show and just give him the trophy would be really cool if he was allowed to though!!

Have just caught up with last week's Langford on Soaps over on After Elton.

I realise some you may have actually read it since it got posted last week () but ts definitely worth a read.

ETA: Loving the Strictly talk! But if Johnny was in it it would definitely be as a judge but he would be great on it.

ETA2: Have just read that properly and realise you're talking about a Christmas special. John Barrowman did that even though he also comes from a show background so its possible, I suppose? Would be a bit unfair to the other contestants, I think .

Ooh, good news!

I know nothing of trends, but he was probably being quirky
Elphie's already answered but yeah, we did! He asked us when it kicked off and also asked if Elphie was the host, lol!

Gosh, that's a rather harsh article! thanks for the link!

Johnny would be awesome on Strictly, but possibly too awesome so might not be allowed
