Parveen is sooo the girl Syed would have 'chosen' if he didn't like men. Intelligent, sharp, from a respectable family, liked by his mother - they would have been a fun match. EE were very clever then - the hints were all there. Of course Amira was the 'ideal', needed him and he'd invested so much emotional energy in her he couldn't get out of it. Unfortunately for him/us.

She'd have sorted him out, he was a pain back then, have to say. They could have been good.

She, like Christian, was honest, open and tough. If Syed had been straight, she'd have been perfect.

They even made believable co conspirators and would have been friends as well as lovers.

Not sure I'm ready for a big rewatch myself, my heart always ache so much at the early stuff, and I think it might hurt even more now. You are so right, in hindsight you really can see how cleverly and with how much thought and care the core of it was all done. Oh God what they all could do when treated like actual, proper well-rounded characters with an actual proper, well-rounded story to tell. Gaaahhh. /Will never not be angry and bitter that that was thrown away

And I liked Parveen SO much, she was such a great, great no nonsense girl who didn't take any crap from anyone. They both really enjoyed the sparring with each other and they brought out some really good sides of each other as well. She would've been great for straight!Syed, they would indeed have been able to be true friends. She could have been a great friend for real!Syed too. I really wish they'd let her be a friend of his, she'd have sussed him out in no time had she gotten the chance to try, and I bet she would've been supportive./rambling...

Not appreciating Syed eating off Amira's plate during Tam's Oxford celebration dinner. Bleugh.

I forget how glad I am she's gone. Still mildly resentful she had to be in their last week PAH.

Classic Chryed was a wonderful time in EE history The care and attention that was put into a character like Parveen, who was only in EE for a couple of ep's was amazing. Building the story layer by layer.

It's weird. I almost feel like watching all that Amira return stuff for some reason. Maybe cos I feel I've missed some parts of Chryed's story...but then it all sounds so hideous. It was so strange to see Amira acting normal(ish) a few weeks back...makes me weep for what could have been for her big return...

Agree with all of this. I haven't watched EE since Chryed left and I can't see myself doing so again. I don't care about any of the characters left. I mean, I do like the Masoods and the actors, but it was always more in a theyarechryedsfamilysortofway. I don't care about Kat and her shadow lover, Max or his secret, the kissing cousins, or Derek...none of them seem like real characters to me, just 1D cardboard cut outs.

I feel so sorry for Marc and Johnny, Marc especially. He waited so long for something decent to do. I find it heartbreaking when I was watching the Chryed exit storyline...how they only got that much screentime when they were leaving. They never deserved Chryed, Marc or Johnny, and they didn't and don't deserve their loyalty.

I've been watching HO recently (I am now a fully converted fan of the 'tache :sleep but I weep that BK is now running HO. It feels like he is following me - first he ruins my fave HO couple (Becca/Justin), then he goes to EE and ruins my fave EE couple (Christian/Syed) and how he is back at HO just as I start watching it again!

Anyway <3 Chryed. Forever and always. At least they can be happy together now.

I made the mistake of rewatching from the start, in the middle of their exit storyline. It made me sad to see the clever writing in their early stuff compared to the shock sensationalist (which turned out neither to be a shock or sensational - almost everyone on the main forum called Danny sleeping with Syed, showing how bad the writing has really gotten: the shock would have been if they DIDN'T sleep together :sleep stuff of the exit.

BIB1 couldn't have said it better myself. It's just so wrong the way they were treated. But hey, we can see that Johnny is getting some work and hopefully we will hear of something for Marc soon.

Just wondering, l_b and Indie both popped in on the last day. Did either come back after the episode to post their thoughts? Wonder what they made of it all. Perhaps the fact they didnt tells us all we need to know!

There's been some very interesting posts about Yasmin. I dont think biology is the be all and end-all and I think Chryed both think of themselves as Daddies to Yasmin. However I was a bit gutted (though I suppose I understand) that Amira referred to him as Uncle Christian whislt Syed called him Daddy Christian. This will get confusing for Yasmin till she's old enough to decide herself. In my mind of course everytime Amira says Uncle, Yasmin will correct her or ask if she means Daddy Christian until Amira caves
I wonder if, seeing as they met abroad, Amira and her new hubby will continue to travel, in which case Chryed might end up with Yasmin a lot more? Yay for them.

Also, I disagree with whoever it was (sorry forgotten who) who said once she starts school, that Amira would have her during the week and Chryed at weekends. I really hope this isnt the case as it's really unfair on everyone! Amira would never get whole days with her daughter, and Chryed would never get to be part of her school routine. I hope they can work it out more fairly so one set gets her Sunday to Wednesday, say, and the other Thursday to Saturday. Or take it in turns whole weeks on and off. And things like parents evening, school performances, sports day etc they can all go together as it's not like they can no longer stand to be in the same place etc. I can totally see both of Chryed getting well into her schooling.

Anyway, I'm just rambling. We'll never know what actually happens!

Oh and I've been wathcing old clips. In no particular order. Yesterday was BF week.

It's actually the gap between the first 3 kisses. It's weird that the story was sooooooooooooooooo good at the start yet they barely touched.

Oh, ok, thanks I think the lack of kissing/ABC was part story-driven but mostly down to TPTB being scared of the complainers But it does prove the point that we're not all here for purely shallow reasons :sleep:

I'm not feeling well so I've spent my day watching old clips (any excuse ) and it's so, so good (I swear it's even better than I remember? But possibly just in comparison to the dross we had to endure their last couple of weeks on the show) but the lack of physical affection is really jarring. Seriously, EE are just super lucky that Marc and Johnny had amazing chemistry.

Anyway, I'm watching nasty bruise. It is the actual best. It's probably my most-watched clip of all. I just love it sooo much.

Just been thinking about my advent calendars. Amazingly despite massive holes, we have had Chryed on almost every day of the month, but some of the choices are really poor and I'm not sure we'll want to be reminded! (and I dont have screencaps saved, but that I can resolve).

I suppose I could do a combined one from all years then there should be good pics for every day somewhere in the 3 years. But a lot of repaet form 2010 and 2011 advent calendars. Hmmmm.

The whole initial story would just not have worked without their chemistry. Despite the lack of physical affection you always felt the strength of their attraction. I think DC week was so refreshing (to an extent :sleep because of the amount of affection they allowed them to show.

Yeah, absolutely! The (generally) decent quality of writing definitely helped, but it literally would not have worked without the chemistry. Just look at something like 'nasty bruise' for instance- it literally only works because Johnny and Marc have this amazing sexual chemistry. It'd be a really odd little scene without the chemistry- as it is, it's one of the best scenes.

Watching these old clips also really highlights how isolated they became, too. It's just so much better. I wish I'd appreciated it more at the time, I just didn't realise how bad it was going to get :sleep:.
