Oh, ok, thanks I think the lack of kissing/ABC was part story-driven but mostly down to TPTB being scared of the complainers But it does prove the point that we're not all here for purely shallow reasons
I was just going to say something similar. Shows the whole story wasn't just about 2 guys having sex, it was about falling in love. Being scared of the complainers could have something to do with it as well

I'm not feeling well so I've spent my day watching old clips (any excuse ) and it's so, so good (I swear it's even better than I remember? But possibly just in comparison to the dross we had to endure their last couple of weeks on the show) but the lack of physical affection is really jarring. Seriously, EE are just super lucky that Marc and Johnny had amazing chemistry.

Anyway, I'm watching nasty bruise. It is the actual best. It's probably my most-watched clip of all. I just love it sooo much.
They are lucky. I would say if it weren't for the chemistry and the (better) writing at the beginning, I wouldn't have watched the whole story and joined this board. I would've watch the first video and moved on, not looking back.

Nasty bruise is a good clip, might have to watch that one again

You're making me want to watch old clips now! I'm planning to rewatch the whole thing when I have a week off next month but I'm kinda scared to watch the old stuff in case it really hits me that they've gone. After the crap of the past couple of years and the sheer awfulness of their exit sl, I'm just so relieved they've gone, but watching the good old stuff might just make me sad and (more) bitter about how they were treated by Kirkwood

The whole initial story would just not have worked without their chemistry. Despite the lack of physical affection you always felt the strength of their attraction. I think DC week was so refreshing (to an extent :sleep because of the amount of affection they allowed them to show.
And now I really want to watch DC week! That really was the best week ever

ETA: Hope you feel better soon, mt

God I am entering new levels of sad
Mate, I just spent my Sunday watching alley scene on repeat, only stopped because I closed it by accident, and then started watching other old clips. Sad isn't the word.

Yeah, absolutely! The (generally) decent quality of writing definitely helped, but it literally would not have worked without the chemistry. Just look at something like 'nasty bruise' for instance- it literally only works because Johnny and Marc have this amazing sexual chemistry. It'd be a really odd little scene without the chemistry- as it is, it's one of the best scenes.

Watching these old clips also really highlights how isolated they became, too. It's just so much better. I wish I'd appreciated it more at the time, I just didn't realise how bad it was going to get .
They really became stuck, didn't they? I kind of think that writing a couple would be harder than writing two separate characters that are not tied together, but there was so much potential there. Perhaps it's just that BK ultimately had no vision for them, and i think a lot of that was because Chryed (especially Syed) weren't typical soap characters.

I've always (pointlessly :sleep wondered what path DTC and Santer would have taken them down. Whatever they would have done, you can guarentee it would have been 100 times better than BK's crap.

I've been watching old stuff a lot lately and it really hasn't made me bitter at all It made me feel less bitter if anything, because I felt like I hadn't been wasting my time, it really was that good. It also took the bad taste of their exit storyline out of my mouth. And reminded me what a wonderful and lovely character Syed is. Which I sorely needed. I definitely recommend it.

I watched it recently. It's soooooo good, omg. I really wish I could get to watch it for the first time again, because it was such a happy-making experience after a year of almost nonstop horrific angst.

This is so amazing, thank-you! I find it really interesting.

LOL at 'outside', especially when combined with 'Vic' and 'caf' . 'I'm not sure I'm ready for the whole public display of affection thing' indeed.

I spent ages trying to remember when there'd been a butcher's shop in EE, let alone Chryed kissing in it, then I realised you meant the Butcher family

If you take out the old (17) and new (14) and Syed (2) flat ones that leaves 30 all in places where anyone could see.
And to be fair even the flat ones were witnessed by a few others (Mas, Amira).

It was their first kiss. There are no excuses here. No idea what I was on...

Ugh, I love 'invite me home' so much (first scene of them I watched) but bruised Christian + police station = baaad associations now. Thanks, EE, love you too.

It wasn't the apostrophe, my subconscious was just following the "public places" trend

I decided to watch some old Chryed, picked a clip at random, but it was the original SBM so I closed it again I don't think I'm quite ready for that yet I do want to watch it again though cos it was soooo good but I still remember how much it hurt at the time despite only watching it twice

I've rewatched pretty much all of the big moments now but still have 'somehow' managed to avoid SBM. It hurts too much. Absolutely incredible, though. NYD is the best episode, but I think SBM is the cleverest.

Oh, and I watched ABRC yesterday. Oh. My. God.... some of the acting is absolutely DIRE. I'd forgotten how much Meryl had improved and some of the extras... oh dear. But it's so, so amazing. Pete deserves all the praise he gets.

It's the time it's taken to get through each part from Part 1 to Part 268. I've a better one which is in days which is easier than hours - give me a minute!

Ha, I did this too!!!!! It was only when I started thinking when there was a kiss at Butcher's Joints when I realised, how could we forget NYE kiss!

Great graph though Sylae, thanks! and actually, when you add outside to the public places on the graph, Chryed kisses have taken place more often in public than not Syed clearly loathes PDAs doesn't he

Thank-you! Interesting!

Can you imagine what part we'd be on if we'd actually gotten consistent, good screentime over the past 2.5 years?!

Past Part 300 I'd imagine

We clung on for a good long time. It was the blackhole after the Masood reconcilliation/Christian's return from GC that seems to have really killed the thread. We were still managing a part a week or less till then. Goddam blackholes
