Part 1 of the survey. And remember, this is not very scientifically done, I'm sureI've forgotten quite a few scenes that should have been here... Apologies for that :sleep:
1.
Favourite Masala Queen scene
I'll have to say kitchen floor talk (and the bantery scene before the fight too if I can include that). Simply totally amazing, light and funny but also so much actual insight: into them both as characters, so much care and trust there already, into Syed’s mindset and all the very real and deep difficulties and into the foundations of the story there in one outrageously fantastic scene.
Runner up is Syed walking in on Christian cooking and listening to music in the MQkitchen. And first kiss.
2. Favourite flat scene (old or new flat, it's up to you!)
I absolutely adore CCC for the beautiful content of Syed slowly healing and coming to terms with himself openly and honestly and Christian being all supportive of it, so I think that’ll have to be it.
Special mentions goes to: Other talents/Why would I want to look at anyone else?/Idiot I’m in love with and Christian coming home from GC (March-12)
3. Favourite Masood family scene
I have no strong inclinations here, but, despite the problems of continuity in storytelling, I sort of love the dinnerscene from March 2012 where they are all teasing each other and laughing together as Christian tries to speak urdu, starting to be included in the family. To me it shows a willingness to learn and embrace the new from Christian, putting himself “out there”, and how Masood (and the rest of the Masoods) recognise and appreciate that.
I also really like Wedding scene and the Olympic torch family moment. And if it's heartbreak you're searching for, of course, the scene after reveal with the PRINCELY Tam thinking Syed was really brave.
4. Favourite Christian-with-Beale-family scene
No superstrong inclinations here either, but I do adore the Happy Jane-dance scene very, very much. You can so tell that Christian’s been dying to gush about his man to someone, and Jane is so, so happy for him (for a few moments…) And then there’s the awesomely heartbreaking moment of “My man’s… not mine… He can’t love me back”. /I am a bit of an angst-whore
Special mentions has to go to the ABRC hospital scene with Jane, amazing, amazing, amazing. I also have a bit of a soft spot for the Beale/Masood haggis-fish-and-chips-meal from very early Chryed. The Lucy hug post SBM-scene is heartbreaking too. And the little ”I hope all your balloons POP”-scene with Lucy and her schoolmates never fails to make me smile.
5. Favourite one or both of Chryed with Tamwar scene It sort of has to be Chryed coming to the mehndi and Tam going: ”He’s my brother and I want him here, I want him here, I want his boyfriend here” in front of everyone. PRINCELY and one of the things that made me realize I simply had to talk to people about this story.
I also absolutely love Tam in “I can’t not love him. Christian.”-scene, he’s amazingly strong and wonderful. And the Syed/Tam hospital talk when Zainab OD’d is wonderful as well.
6. Favourite one or both of Chryed with Zainab scene
Verging on impossible to choose (

very mean for making me choose amongst the NYD 2010-scenes!
), but I think I have to go with the Syed-and Zainab NYD. Hearbreaking and completely stunning acting. Deep insight into both of them, so many layers laid open to see to them as characters and to the story so far and the grounds for the story to come. Still blown away by it. Every time.
Runners up are ”Physically sick!!” scene and, of course, the scene between Christian and Zainab NYD 2010.
7. Favourite one or both of Chryed with Masood sceneI think it will have to be Masood tells Christian about pregnancy. I quite literally want to die at this scene, I want to rip my heart out and jump all over it because I am sure it would hurt less. It is a quite disturbing scene in many ways, but it is so, so brilliant from both of them and the angstwhore in me can't not love it.
Special mentions goes to ”I love him more and in ways you couldn’t possibly imagine”+ punch- scene /Christian and Masood setting up Syed and Amira’s bed and the talk between Syed and Mas on BF.
8. Favourite Chroxy scene
I have to go with the scene in the flat when Christian’s hiding after being beaten up (august 2009). Supportive, reassuring Roxy being there for Christian when he’s at his lowest, and us getting to see behind the façade of Superman Clarke. And that always gets me.
Special mentions to “Aaaare we having a row? “A tiff”-scene (when Christian is all moody as Syed is brushing him off after the first time but before Proper Normal talk in MQ office. I just love their relationship here, how they support each other and still tell-each-other-like-it-is). And for fun, the eating fairy cake-scene from April -12. Also sort of like the Coffee-scene after breaking up (Nov-12) and the talk in the Gym-scene when Christian’s so tired (Nov-12).
9. Favourite Syed-and-anyone-who-isn't-Christian-or-a-Masood scene
Can I sort of “cheat” and say therapy/CAG-scene/s? I sort of have to go with them since they are so, so amazing, in so many ways. Blows me away every time.
Also really like the Tanyed- salonscene for some insight into Syed and a promise of a friendship that TPTB should have made so much more of (what’s new there?
). And if it counts (Christian is there even if he doesn’t speak); I love the little “So my mother will generously permit me to attend my brother’s wedding… if I conceal what I am, who I love and how I plan to spend the rest of my life? No way!” - speech to Yusef. And I SO wish there’d been more Synine scenes, they had some great chemistry early on, and the “making-a-deal”- scene (late July/early August-12) still had good chemistry between them.
