Panto Memories Part 3 - All of Us.
My memories.....lovely trip on the 15th Dec with
kqv, meg_icy, Karenb, Jack Nasty, and Jemman.....we also met up with
Ditzy Lady, Pink Teddy and Elphie once we were up there. Also we met with
Sarah (sorry can't remember your username on DS) for a coffee during the day...
Elphie had met up with a friend and brought her along to a meal with us and they also sat up till midnight in the Premier Inn bar with us all after the show....and her friend was very lovely and polite listening to all of us going on and on and on....about Johnny, Marc, Chryed, and EE and lots of enthusiastic chatting and reminiscing...
Nottingham had the most lovely decorations and Christmas market and this amazing ride with chair-o-planes that went up really high on a pole.....it was really pretty and gave a great Christmas atmosphere.
Sat 5 & 6th weekend....everyone meeting in the Travelodge....or else arriving at Zizzi’s where we had our big meal......about 35 Chryedian’s sat round two huge tables....the buzz and the noise and the excitement building....taking pictures.... The biggest meet up since ChryedCon.....Also remember
Ardchoile’s quest for a cup with handle....they only served hot chocolate in these glass bowls, and didn’t seem to possess any kind of drinking vessel with a handle....it was so funny....

....odd shaped glasses and jugs in various Italian restaurants became a bit of theme throughout the two weekends......
In the audience, the amazing cheer that went up when Johnny first came out on stage....all the hands in the air.....with our wristbands on....we all had a new green wristband for Nottingham....
After our meet up with Johnny, everyone camping out in the Travelodge bar till the early hours.........all a bit of a blur (cough) I made an effort to circulate.....talking to people I don’t always get the chance to.......great fun. Sunday morning....saying goodbye to sleepy Chryedian’s at breakfast....always sad when some people have to go. I was lucky enough to be staying so it was Stage Door again, then the matinee - for this I was sat in the Dress Circle, which had great views and it was nice to get a different perspective. Then we had a quick meal at Bella Italia squeezed in and more goodbyes, then the Sunday night performance. Followed by a final chat in the Premier Inn Bar with
kqv and Meg_icy, before waving them off as they drove through the night back down to London. Myself,
MercuryPhoenix, Elphie, and Zoetje all wandered back to the Travelodge through the midnight streets of Nottingham, and all set off home on the train on Monday morning, able to sit together, which was nice....lovely journey home talking loudly about fan-fiction.....without a care in the world.
The Final weekend of 12th & 13th......a particularly good night in the audience on Sat 12th as we were all sat in the first two rows so all felt really 'together', similar to the 5th, lots of glowband jewellery being made.....and lots of noise being made.....
On Sunday...managed to find the Robin Hood statue and finally take some pictures....thanks to
Absacadabra for coming with me to find it......I also managed to find time to buy a thank you card to Johnny and scrawl an inadequate thank you message in it....with a woman trying to look over my shoulder at what I was writing....she could have sat on two other empty benches....we seem to attract people......
Then it was the
brilliant mucked up matinee with Johnny dressed as a stag in the woodland animals scene, doing some impressive ballet leaping and carrying Dandini, huge surprise....when he took the headress off as we had no idea...he was brilliant, and it brought the house down....dressed in tights and a mini-dress.....We were sat in a box which gave us a nice new perspective, he spotted us and looked up several times and grinned at us....thank you to
LovelyLaura for organising that particular performance and getting the box for us.....it was great!
Also the other bits that were a bit different to normal were Johnny leaving his sleeves off for longer than normal during Runaway Baby (they get ripped off every time but he left them off for much longer....we didn’t complain....:sleep

and Cinderella’s magical invitation coming down the chimney attached to a brick....Johnny being made up in white make-up and a white wig for the start of the ballroom scene, so funny.....And the epic line that brought the house down: when Cinderella runs off at the stroke of midnight....Prince Charming stops the orchestra and shouts ‘Dandini – after her’ – usually Dandini comes back and says ‘there is no one there, just a kitchen maid running through the grounds’ – they changed this to a ‘a kitchen maid having a fantasy in the grounds’ – brought the house down......LOL.
We had a big meal (yet again) in Pizza Express and downed our food in a rush.......I think we could now write up a good guide to the Italian Restaurants in Nottingham....
Then it was glowsticks at the ready, and we were seated in the first two rows for the final, final show.....amazing finale with Johnny singing his heart out and giving us a lovely shout out in the final song, I’m a Believer....saying ‘I’m in love with you’....a lovely end!
And then, after all the fake snow we’d had showered on us during the many many performances......we walked out of the theatre and it was actually snowing.....was quite magical......
Many people went home, and I was overnight for a final stay in the Premier Inn and woke up to a very snowy Nottingham on Monday morning....decided for some mad reason to walk up Goldsmith Street in the snow.....just to walk past the stage door one more time and say goodbye to it....then I got on a tram...and it was the last glimpse of the Theatre Royal in the snow as the tram turned away....and it went off to the station.
So, farewell Nottingham......3 trips of epic Johnny cheering and joy, Chryedian chatting and squeezing and drinking, Italian food devouring and tram riding.....it was brilliant.
