Agree so much with both of you, which hardly comes as a surprise .
My heart is breaking for Nina (and Zainab) at this exit, she deserved so much better. Gaaah! Even if they decided to go with sort of low-key (basically as in decided not to kill her off), surely, they could have made it, IDK, make sense or something?? Then again, that doesn't seem to be a priority...

Like you both say, when you list the stuff that Zainab and Masood have been through and come back to each other, them splitting up permanently over... whatever "this" is, it just doesn't make sense *shakes head in disbelief* And I agree with you mt, it's most likely going to be a "straw that breaks..."- thing, but... I wont buy it, I just wont. And like you Elphie, I really need Masood's exit to have an element of going to be with Zainab/her coming back for a while, them reconciling and then leaving together. In my head it will be, anyway...:sleep:

I'm not holding my breath over a Chryed / Syed mention in Zee's final episode but it would be nice, either during Mas and Zee's penultimate argument over their troubles or when Zee makes her decision about where to go.

Going to see Shabnam for a while would make sense but of course she can't go perminantly because that would mean taking Kamil far away from Masood. Eventually settling near Chryed and Yasmin would make the most sense because Zainab as a character is about her family more than anything else and she'd be close enough to Masood and Tamwar that they could see Kamil fairly regularly.

I'm in voluntary retirement from discussing Syed and Christian and don't watch EE although the trailer is tempting me to record Nina's exit at least and ffwd the other bits, so I'm out of the loop as regards the current state of Masood and Zainab's relationship other than an overview.

But reading your comment about it not making sense and mt's yesterday about the conflicts because of Syed. They actually could try and make it make sense in that now he's not around they could find they look at themselves and suddenly without that they find that was not the reason...or not the underlying reason.Once all that has been taken away what do they have left? and they might find it's not enough suddenly. A lot of their differences were blamed on that but without that now to blame maybe they admit it's been hiding the real cracks?

The talk when they go round the house could be really good particularly if as a part of it, they do revisit Masood's jealousy of Syed when he was a baby. That implies a love almost too intense right from the start even if the wife is too doting over her first born. Mmm maybe I will tape it.

Mind you I was watching the part after the ABRC the other day, Masood hiding unpaid bills, hiding that he'd taken a loan from Phil, hiding that he'd known the roof was dangerous, bodged a repair, risked all those people and did almost kill his son (but it was ok the next day he rang the hospital to see if he was ok...lucky it wasn't too late ) oh and hid the fact that the restaurant wasn't insured .

And of course he'd gambled the family savings away years before that anyway. And since none of that was brought up when Syed got into financial difficulties before his exit, maybe watching could be harmful. It might be too much of a shock if we get some relevant backstory and it could be a wee bit too annoying because we didn't before and I did always crave scenes delving into the Syed and Masood relationship. And we never got enough particularly at the end when we really should have had some raking over of that past between them.

Yeah, I know there's possibilities to sort of make it make sense. And of course there is enough in their history to make them as a couple crack under pressure aso. (or drift apart when there's no "pressure" keeping them together anymore or whatever the angle they'll be going for in the last eps will be). It's just that, as far as I have seen (correct me if I'm wrong anyone who's had a stomach to watch it more than I have), that's not been the focus of the "story" so far, and a few last eps and scenes trying to cover it all wont be enough for me, it'll still be a huuuuuuuuge disappointment for an exit-s/l for Zainab (and Nina).

I can't watch any previews (unless someone's put it on youtube) but I can imagine the last eps being quite good (even though there are a lot of other characters in all the eps, so they wont have that much focus... *sighs*), and there to be some individually even great scenes. And Nina and Nitin personally will undoubtedly sell it like crazy. But meeh...

I agree about wanting so much more about the Syed/Masood relationship digged into before the end (my bloodpressure still can't really handle me thinking about the cut scene between them in the third to last ep! Seriously! *shakes head and tries to lower bloodpressure* ). Hah, yeah, imagine the immense shock if there all of a sudden were some serious covering of the relevant and important backstory People would faint all over the country (and the world...) But I'm sure tptb are way to kind to do that to us :sleep:

Just thought I would pop on and make the effort to post a bit more this week....here we go with the end of Zainab, the end of an era....

I feel weird / sad / disappointed with it so far (some amazing points and discussions on this page and the last one) I guess it's meant to be the straw the breaks the camel's back and Masood realises that after all Zainab doesn't really make him that happy.

I detest Ayesha.....as long as she disappears into the blue yonder at the same time as Zainab that will help a bit.

Who me? thanks for clarifying what the AT show stood for, from the other week....

I really wish EE would stop their habit of making the character going out very dislikeable and magnifying all the negative traits x 100....but it seems old habits die hard. *sigh*

Nervous about tonight, and hoping some depth and lengthy dialogue is going to cover some of the many, many things we have longed to see discussed....if we get a Syed discussion I will be shocked....and overjoyed....

If we get a Chryed mention....well, depends what it is....I don't even know if I want one after all this time....

Going to get some chocolate - will be watching live for the first since 15th November as it's been Iplayer all the way since then.

I hope people get some of what they want...and we get some surprises (only good ones!)

I'm finding Zainab's contrived behaviour uncomfortable in the run up to her exit.

And not much screentime either with just 3 episodes to go, she had more screentime during Chryed's wedding week.

My thoughts....well that episode certainly managed to surprise me a bit, which was good!

My main objections to the story have been centred around Ayesha, but that is because I guess she is so detestable (for me anyway). And I was worried it was just going to be a run of the mill cheating or nearly cheating story, but I felt tonight that Ayesha is going to be used (I hope!) as the catalyst that makes Masood think, and nothing more. I also think he no longer sees her as docile, and I've not felt he is really that interested or tempted, so it's now turning the corner for me......so far!

I was worried it was all feeling a bit too trite after everything they'd gone through to be together....but tonight I thought we saw the beginnings of the real cracks that have always been there....being examined.

I really liked the scene in the pub with Masood begging everyone to come to watch the fountain turned on, it was what I would term 'cringeworthy, but good cringe' because it was meant to be, it was meant to be ridiculous. It was quite sad.

Similarly, the ceremony, so OTT and daft....but good cringe, then funny with the pink bubble bath and then somehow sad. One of those very clever scenes, that is on the surface light, but then darker shades are revealed. I thought Zainab's fury showed how damaged she is deep down, (yes they've magnified all her bad points and we've never had Masood's addressed, and that is beyond frustrating...) however, going with what are getting, I still felt it was touching on some important stuff.

I think Masood is going to walk away from her because he will realise that nothing he ever does is ever going to be good enough, and that the pattern they have, of him 90% of the time pacifying her, and trying to make everything perfect, is very damaged, and also one that they will be locked into for the rest of their lives. Because Masood can't fix it for Zainab, because the problem lies within her, and the way she feels about herself. It's the way it's always been and it's just not gone away.

She was almost childlike at times tonight, incredibly childish, and horrible, but also sad to watch, how she has been at different points during her time on the show, so - I guess what I am saying is......I thought it was good and it worked for me.

I hope this is the reason that Masood decides to walk away.....because he sees the problem lies within her and he can never fix it, only she can. But I would so, so love to see it acknowledged about the many, many things he has also done wrong....it would be great for me if that could happen.

So all in all, having now caught up on the story in pretty much all in one go, tonight worked well for me, and particularly well after watching about 6 episodes quite quickly together previously.

Wonderful acting from Nina and Nitin, goes without saying...and the smashing the fountain scene was breathtaking!

Great post. I don't really agree, I think this whole thing has been dreadful, but you make some great points. Like, I see what you're saying but that's not what they've been portraying for me? Idk, it's just not coming across convincingly to me, and while Zainab and Masood have many, many issues in their relationship, I don't feel like EE have scratched the surface. I think the next couple of eps will be good, but there's no way they can convince me Zainab and Masood need to break up permanently in so little time. They haven't been 'right' in a while, but that's just because of poor writing and screentime rather than anything inherent in them.

BiB: Oh, I'm surprised you said that. Unless you meant 'breathtaking' in a bad way, and I'm assuming not. Because I thought it was really bad and OTT and cringey, ugh. It was just stating the obvious. Masood tries his best and nothing is ever good enough, blaaah, get over it, Masood is a failure, blaah, shut up. Zainab and Masood's fight scenes are normally so good (thinking of the ones in the episode where Syed and Christian got engaged especially but there's been tons of fabulous ones) but that one was so, so bad for me. I didn't see the whole episode though so I guess I saw it out of context, but, yeah, I hated it. Other people seemed to have enjoyed it, though, but it was not good.

The whole water fountain thing is just awful. It's a metaphor for their relationship, I get it, but it's so clumsy and it's turned Zainab into a total psycho and it doesn't make sense. I know when I think 'crème de la crème' I think of people who have water features in their front gardens EE do not do metaphors well, they need to stop.

And don't get me started on Ayesha. Awful. (Also, EE seriously needs to get past the A's of their 'Asian baby girl names' book). I'm glad Masood hasn't cheated and didn't even seem particularly tempted, except in a 'he is a human and she is gorgeous' way. That was a nice change. I just wish it was better. Oh, well, too late now. I hope Zainab's last few eps are good at the very least.

I enjoyed the smashing up - I just felt like it needed to happen! I don't see the water feature as a metaphor for their relationship though, not at all.....which might be why it didn't annoy me! I know lots of people aren't enjoying any of the exit....I don't think it's been very well thought out, I agree. But - if you have huge gaps and no follow ups for 9 months or so in storylines....this is what happens, in order to address the points that could have and should have been addressed so much better, we needed that follow up from Jan to May last year....and it just didn't happen.

I'm really treating it in a similar way to Chryed's exit I think, in that I can enjoy individual scenes but don't agree with the overall way it's been put together...and I agree with you that there was much more to enjoy (for me) and much more interesting things happening, in Chryed's exit - than Zainab's. This really has been low key, with it all crammed in at the end.

As I said, I think we are meant to see it as the straw that breaks the camels back. Clearly not believeable enough for some people....I can sympathise with that....I do think having an outsider such as Ayesha has 'enabled' for want of a better word, Masood to see how ludicrous aspects of their relationship are. I'm not sure her lusting after him or being all stupid and lovestruck was really necessary really, and some of that I've found really cringeworthy and not in a good way!! Had to shut my eyes in places. I can't believe he wouldn't have told her to get stuffed or get out of the room....so those bits for me have not felt believeable.

As I say, I'd love to have seen Masood's faults explored a whole lot more, I do hold out a little glimmer of hope for some dialogue in the final two episodes. And my overriding hope now is that Masood ends the relationship because of realising that Zainab is damaged and he cannot fix it, ever....rather than it just being him thinking that she doesn't really love him....because to me it's not about something as simple as that and never has been. We shall see.

Anyway, great to see people popping on to post and some great discussion over the last couple of pages, from everyone....whether we agree with all the points or not....this is still a great place to post and chat on! xx

You make some good points and even make me feel a little better about the storyline especially regarding how Zainab feels about herself.

The trouble is - like with Syed during Chryed's exit - we're not seeing much of Zainab's POV in terms of how she's feeling about life right now, why is she behaving this way? She's sometimes coming across as a 'cartoon' version of Zainab, rather than the 3D version of Zainab who existed during Chryed's original storyline. I did think - even for Zainab - that she was a bit aggressive towards Masood tonight but if reasons for this do come up later on, it might be OK.

I'm hopefully Nitin and Nina will pull it out of the bag on Thursday and Friday but then Chryed had a few good moments during what was a terrible storyline overall.

So much happening though - first A Chorus Line preview tonight with JP & T-rex and Pete wrote tonight's Eastenders (which i still have to watch) and apparently there was a Syed mention and its also Zainab's second-to last episode and tonight the marriage equality bill passed its 2nd reading (just 3 more votes to go!!) and OT but I'm excited to see Poliakoff's Dancing on the Edge which carries Prince George forwards from The Lost Prince. Apparently he was bisexual and he definitely flirts with Louis the band leader at that club gig in the first part. :sleep: /justsaying

It's been SOOOOOOO long since I was last year that I doubt anyone remembers me...but hello. I've just been watching the Chryed story from the beginning (I actually only watch up to their first reunion in July 2010, so I don't know much about them from then on. I however did watch their final episode, and it was heartbreaking to see them leave!) lately so I felt like posting on here. I might be more active in an attempt to help keep the threads alive!

It's been really sad seeing so many people leave these threads after the end of what was definitely the best storyline and couple to ever grace EastEnders. And now Zainab's leaving too (and I HATE she's breaking up with Masood. Just. No. I hope that whenever he leaves it's to go find Zainab and reunite)...but just because they're gone doesn't mean our love for them is over. I have to be honest, I've not seen EastEnders properly for months since I started university over the last year, and none of the characters grab me anyway. I think the last full episode I saw was the Christmas one, and honestly all I remember is the last bit.

It's really sad we can't hope for spoilers ever again. Maybe one day, they'll return. I don't know if they ever ruled it out? Or we can at least hope for references in passing! In the mean time, there's always fanfiction, right?

I'm so glad neither Christian or Syed ever fell in love with anyone else once they fell in love with each other. Watching Alfie try to move on with Roxy and Max loving two women at once, it speaks volumes that Chryed only really had eyes for each other.

I know it's only me that is around, been trying to get on all evening to post! I just wanted to make sure I was able to post by midnight, as I would have been very sad not to......

......as it's my Threadiversary today! Exactly 3 years ago, on the 7th Feb...I made one of the best decisions in my life and plucked up the courage to de-lurk and join WFCTGIO.

This has been one of most amazing experiences of my whole life.....from posting on here, enjoying the agony and the ecstasy of Chryed, and seeing them get their well deserved happy ending....to all the fun polls, quizzes, puzzles, fan fiction, beautiful videos...and the many tears and laughs I've shared. It's been so special and wonderful.

And it's led me to a whole lot of wonderful new friends in real life...you know who you are....and meeting Johnny and Marc...what more could anyone ask for - nothing! It really has been so amazing!

So a big thank you to everyone for being part of my WFCTGIO journey! xxxx

Quite enjoyed last night's episode but only because of the chemistry between Nina and Nitin and a feeling of saying goodbye to the past in a way.

Shabnam still hasn't met her baby brother and Zee did talk about missing her last night, so I wonder if that's where she'll be going when she leaves? ( still can't take Kamil to another country for long though, unless he stays with Masood )
