LOL, I still remember championing first dance and my reaction when I got it.

I think I was more excited that it happened that how it was played.

So short but oh well bread crumbs was what became the norm in thier last two years.

Yeah, way to go Mas. Don't just creep out quietly and let them have their fun. LIKE YOU DID AT ANOTHER POINT IN THE STORY.

I've always loved the fact that Christian doesn't know when Syed's birthday is (which is something you only learn through being in someone's life properly- people rarely just come out and announce their birthdays. It's only something you learn after being fully immersed in their lives. Or, you know, seeing it on Facebook. You know what I mean) but he knows what his favourite film is, what turns on him, how to get him to open up... everything that is actually important. Amira knows all the 'official' stuff, Christian knows the REAL stuff.

It's the breathy way Syed says "Was that my dad?" - you can really hear the fear, but also I think the relief.
It's interesting in the light of what comes later - Mas saying to Z 'Of course he wanted to be caught.' He hardly saw his dad (too busy up in Christian's lips) but he leapt straight to the conclusion that it was. Because he was kinda expecting/hoping he'd come looking...

Ohh, Perfect Moment. Still Perfect. BTF kiss gets me every time, despite the slightly Mills & Boon ish dialogue ("You're also a MAN...") - the way Syed just can't help himself.

Wish it wasn't so flipping dark though, it's impossible for vidding.

"Get Christian to do it".

I'm sorry, but Amira did treat Christian like a dogsbody. People who said Christian was her best friend were watching a different programme from me...

He did far worse to her, but still. Let's not pretend Christian was betraying a beautiful friendship here.
See, that moment used to really bug me - it's your flat ffs, do it yourself! - but then I remembered that he does actually live next door so could keep an eye out for the gas man while they're having a family meal across the square. I always kept forgetting in that period that the two flats were next door to each other! But still, the way she assumes he has no life and is just hanging around to wait on her every whim is...yeah.

(Aww, they're dancing to 'Mercy' on Strictly...)

THIS

(Incidentally, it is my next door neighbour's birthday today. I only know this because I heard her friends singing Happy Birthday to her through the wall. I mean I heard through the wall, not that they were singing through the wall. That would be really odd.)

Remembering when a "Johnny hug" was just a faraway impossible dream....

And to think I actually had the privilege to experience quite a few of those by now... never, EVER thought this could possibly happen for real.... Sometimes dreams do come true!!
Awwwww...so many of our dreams have come true.

Yes, me too - and he's absolutely right, Arthur stealing the Christmas money or even Den divorcing Angie would have zero impact in today's soaps and it's sad. The trouble is I think as well is that they've lost the middle ground - either EVERYTHING is happening and it's completely OTT, or nothing is happening at all and it feels boring because of how big the big stuff is now.
Tend to agree with this....a trap that has happened to most of the soaps I guess. You are spot on about the 'bigness' and the effects it causes.

They are all lovely to us. Really kind and I have a greater respect for them as writers knowing what they have taken to time to explain their craft and thoughts to us
Lovely post and I totally agree. I'm under no illusions as to hard it must be. When we fantasise about future head canon, we are free to go wherever we want. But listening to NHB, and also recalling Pete's interview, it's interesting how they have both mentioned how the restrictions within an episode briefing make it hard, and how writers can't always explore what they'd like to.

Hiya Jennie.

Its truely wonderful what they're so welcoming and generous with thier time, especially when we're no editor of a magazine or a moderator of a soaps forum. We're just hardcore fans.

but I think if anything, what we've done, achieved and our passion has proved is..... is just how poweful fandom is and can be. When you get something right even if it's just a soap, you can gain something amazing in return. To achieve a backing like this, as a result of a storyline, speaks absolute volumes.

I can still imagine the reaction from the beeb when they heard of our convention last year/
Love this paragraph especially. It's been a wild and fantastic adventure, all of it! Gone way beyond anything I ever could have dreamed of.

Ugh, BTF. Syed just CANNOT resist. Damn the terrible lighting. And I wish it'd gone on just a little bit longer. Still one of my faves.

Also 'blood, tissue, feelings' is one of the best line deliveries of the storyline.

Gahhh, the moment itself is so gorgeous. Syed just looks blissed-out and in love.

Also: a lip-rub without an appearance from desperate!Christian

BiB: exactly. 'Get Christian to do it'. Not, like, 'see if Christian can do it'. Christian's clearly got nothing better to do than watch the gasman for OUR flat.

I feel bad for her because she's being totally lied to, but she's still annoying. I didn't really dislike her during this period, but, God, she can be annoying. Nothing tops scatter cushions, though...

And of course Mas later says he caught them 'having sex'. They should SO have been wearing less clothing. Just, y'know, to make it clear for the viewers...

OMG I've realised I watched the whole clip and didn't even think about the socket or the orange bucket!

I'm glad, but also a little ashamed - it really has been too long.

On a related note, why does Masood assume it was just a kiss if he did nothing to interrupt it?!

IT MAKES NO SENSE.

So, basically: sees a kiss that he interrupts, assumes it was sex. Sees another kiss a couple of years later, does nothing to interrupt it, assumes it wasn't sex. Seems legit.

Ugh. Don't get me started on Amira She was never a real friend to Christian, she just liked the idea of having a gay best friend cos it was so extra  I mean,
Christian: "Please don't call me Franck."
Amira: "But it's funny!"
Me: "F*** OFF BINT!!!!!"

Wow, I hardly ever posted on the thread before Chryed left, now every other post is from me!
I am going to immediately rectify that, however, by going out for a meal for my friend's birthday.
I shall leave you all with a reminder that on the schedule (and we MUST obey the schedule  ) it is now officially 'Games Night'.

I look forward to coming back and catching up on all the fun.

Laterz potaterz.
((((hugs Chryedville again for being so damn marvellous))))

Six scatter cushions and a table lamp! Haven't seen it for, god, years(?), but I can still HEAR her saying it. It's seared into my brain.

And of course Mas later says he caught them 'having sex'. They should SO have been wearing less clothing. Just, y'know, to make it clear for the viewers...
Surely it was changed, right? I'm sure I remember some sort of theory/rumour on the thread that it had been changed, and was originally meant to be in the bedroom or something? (Presumably they changed it so that it was more ambiguous onscreen to whether they'd actually had sex, but they didn't bother to change any of Masood's subsequent dialogue.) Masood's fathered four children, surely he can't be that ignorant of what sex looks like...

Syed's "Not out here." is significant.
THAT's why it was important that Reunion was outside in the market.
Interesting point, very true.

I've always loved the fact that Christian doesn't know when Syed's birthday is (which is something you only learn through being in someone's life properly- people rarely just come out and announce their birthdays. It's only something you learn after being fully immersed in their lives. Or, you know, seeing it on Facebook. Amira knows all the 'official' stuff, Christian knows the REAL stuff.
Another interesting point, love this!

Remember us all discussing this....I do agree, I think he wanted to be caught (subconsciously).

I think that dialogue's a bit misleading, yeah, but I don't think it's too much of a stretch for Masood to realise Syed had just had sex with him (Syed's been gone ageees. Pretty sure it's light outside when he leaves; dark when he's outside the flat). I don't see how it could've been phrased differently, really, without being awkward. He just knows, whatever it was, he couldn't say it was 'just a kiss'...

But I don't find it hard to believe stuff was 'toned down' either. Nothing will convince me that sofa kiss wasn't reshot

Remember us all discussing this....I do agree, I think he wanted to be caught (subconsciously).
I don't even think it was all that subconscious. Christian's flat is right there. I mean, I don't think he's actively thinking 'God, I hope I get caught', but I think he's certainly recognised the risk. He does, after all, go to the place he's told his family he is.

Oh dear! That's weird, have never come across any issues with vimeo before - is your browser up to date? Try a different one maybe?

If you call telling the truth scary...

I really did loathe her though, right from the very start before we even knew Syed was gay, and she just got progressively worse. IIRC I was the only one at ChryedCon who picked her over DTW as the most hated character in the video choice thing at the start

Hi guys! Just gonna barge in and make a post.

Never thought I'd be posting here again... it's so weird that the thread is throwing a celebration today - I made the decision to rewatch the entire Chryed storyline out of the blue about three days ago, when I had no idea that so many significant dates were so close by! It's a great coincidence

I've just made it past the reunion episode and wow there were so many things/scenes/lines I'd forgotten about. And coming back to the thread is stirring up some major deja vu as well (loving these old smilies)

I stopped watching EE in late 2010 and only started watching again a few months ago; in other words, I actually have no idea what happens in Chryed's storyline from about September 2010 onwards (well, I know rough details like their wedding and the whole Amira/baby thing but other than that I'm in the dark) so I'm looking forward to experiencing some new content for the first time!

I really regret the fact that I stopped following their storyline for some silly reasons but I'm so glad that the thread is still active, even for just a few special days once a year or so

Anyway this was a bit of an essay Back to Youtube I go!
