It's been getting some good notices alright :

so rich is the characterisation and so intriguing are the subtexts that such explicit connections quickly cease to play on the mind. Far more interesting is Phoenix’s courageously unfettered investigation of a damaged mind. Anderson has acknowledged the influence of John Huston’s Let There be Light from 1946, a suppressed documentary on soldiers traumatised in the second World War, and Phoenix’s performance reminds us how little was spoken about the effects of conflict on veterans of that conflagration.

Interesting- I wasn't really aware that PTSD was such a big problem for WWII
veterans.

I think it has sort of mixed reviews so far. It seems an ambitious project from PTA. Would you expect anything less?

It is being shown in 70 mm in London's Odeon West End cinema. Only 70 mm showing in the UK(so far anyway).

Saw it yesterday evening. I love PTA but sometimes wish he would return to a more simplistic narrative like in Boogie Nights.

Having said that I thought parts of the film (particularly JPs first 'session') were profoundly moving and Phillip Seymour Hoffman was brilliant.

I loved his singing scenes!

I wasn't such a fan of The Master. Far too ambiguous I think, made it all rather frustrating.

I was sooo keen to see this, and now that I have, I can't help feeling like I've been completely duped.

Joaquin Pheonix and Philip Seymour Hoffman are both outstanding, but are sadly within a film that is very tedious and has no conclusion. What a let down.

I watched it this morning and I found it so tedious and very boring and bearing in mind it was a film I had been wanting to see for absolute ages, so i gave it a fair shot.
