Yes, not really cruel.

Because if Kimberley had been called safe in the first half, she would have been sat with Claudia at the same time as Girls Aloud were being introduced, and even she can't change and get down onto the Wembley floor that quickly! Whilst it would be fairly obvious to most that the GA section would have been filmed at a different time, the producers like to keep up the pretence that they actually performed in between the couples being called safe. Therefore Kimberley had to be left until the second half.

I assumed they filmed GA first, then Claudia's link introducing GA with the first lot of saved couples was filmed afterwards, but to continue the fiction that it's all live and seamless, they had to have Kimberley in the second half of saved couples because they couldn't have her with Claud and then 2 seconds later be on stage in a different outfit with GA.

They still didn't need to leave her until last. Victoria should have been made to sweat for a change, especially as her performance was dreadful.

Oh I quite agree, I voted for Kimberley last night so felt sorry for her being left to the end to find out she was safe.

GA could have sung last, or even opened the show...
Even if she had to be in the second group, she didn't have to be left to the absolute end.

They do, and then televise it tonight. No, that wasn't nice at all, especially after last week.

I understand your thinking, and of course your right. BUT, they didn't need to be so cruel and leave Kimberley to last saved standing!

it's just about building tension, esp by calling Victoria safe first (in the second group) and then leaving the two pop people under the flashing spotlight last. When Kimberly was still there with just Nicky I thought she was a goner and they were just putting Nicky there to hold people in false suspence. I never thought he'd be in the bottom yet, just because you presume they still have very dedicted fans (abit like with the idea for Kimberly last week but poss even more fans).

Yes, it's not strictly true when they say "in no particular order". They mean "this is not in order of popularity". It IS however in a particular order to create impact. X Factor does this as well - all voting shows do.

IMO this is all strictly do really to cause a bit of tension. they dont twist the votes or make people vote for bad dancers etc x factor is full of twisting things. its why strictly is more popular

Phone vote figures come from another location, probably presented to Shepherds Bush in descending order of votes cast. To save time Strictly management could have called out names in this descending order despite saying "in no particular order".

It is conceivable Kimberley was actually bottom 3rd . Why not? She made bottom 2 last week despite coming second on the leaderboard.

Why would you presume that?

It would make no sense at all to wait for the phone lines to close, run the first half of the safe couples, film GA & Kylie, then film the second half of the safe / bottom two couples. Surely they would film GA & Kylie while the phone votes were being verified, etc, so Kimberley would have performed with GA before the results were known.

Except that nobody died. Or had their innards clawed out. At least not on screen, anyway

Or even better, they could not have been on the show at all.

Especially since, as has been explained elsewhere on DS, they needed two takes of both Girls Aloud & Kylie.

What struck me was Nicky looking relived when he and Kimberly were the last ones left. So maybe that was the twist they were going for at the cost of being cruel to Kimberley.

This idea would have worked just as well with Victoria & Nicky though.

Nobody wants to be in the bottom two. Why should Kimberley have any special treatment.
Don't forget Michael & Nat were left to last the previous week and no-one complained and said "Aww, poor Michael, how cruel".

I have always thought that the bottom 3 were the bottom 3, and the rest were in no particular order.

I can't exactly say why I think that! But I do seem to remember / think more often that the previous weeks saved couples (especially when it was a 'shock') have been announced early on in the list.
