James sung a very emotional performance in the sing off, and has always thrown emotion into his songs which is why he has gone forwards.

Good result and the correct result at last this week.”

What really gets me is the judges laying 100% of the blame at the feet of the public. Granted, deadlocks are decided by the public vote. But there have been a few times when judges could have got rid of some of the deadwood early on. But didn't. (Remember the Jedward/Cowell farce) So the decisions made by them at that time, are in some part, responsible for where we are now. When you don't get rid of the crap when you have the opportunity early on (Rylan/Carolynne). Then it's pretty obvious that if they remain, we will start to see better singers, booted out. So Tulisa. You and your fellow judges need to start taking some responsibility. Instead of shouting about how ' This is not happening. We shouldn't be here' Well, NEWSFLASH!! It's because of some of the judges earlier poor decisions, including you, that you are. Waken up!!

And yet she managed to sing Midnight Train to Georgia beautifully with her "limited" range

and your point is? hardly a range busting song
plus it being sung 'beautifully' is only your opinion of course

is because nobody voted for her...

A song has lyrics and a tune, change the tune and its a different song with the same lyrics.

Maybe if Ella had tried an up tempo number (like eg You're the One that I Want" she may have survived....and I just can't stand James Arthur at all.

Ella is a good singer but so are a milion other singers on the club/holiday circuit. The truth is it's not just about singing. In fact I suspect many of today's successes couldn't hack it if they always had to sing live.
I just think there is something so 'forgettable' about her. Sorry Ella.

There was more than a touch of arrogance about the producers thinking they could unearth "the new Adele" with just a click of their fingers on a tacky Saturday night talent show.

She reminds me of these overconfident girls you get at stage schools and I got the impression she was very smug and believed she was going to win”

That's because she is one of them - she spent 4 or 5 years at stage school.

She didn't sing it beautifully at all imo.

The main problem for me is that she didn't live up to her auditions in the live shows. Many people thought she would be an absolute star and she failed to really deliver.

Agree with this, I thought she was really good at auditions/bootcamp but she hasn't been anywhere close in the live shows.

Ella has an amazing talent and it says something that her best performances were her audition and boot camp before the producers got properly hold her!! I mean honestly what the hell was that version of Written in the stars they gave her with the daft lyrics that bear no relation to the chorus?! They ruined her!”

A geezer called Eric Turner wrote the lyrics and Ella sang his original version:

oh written in the stars
a million miles away
a message to the main
ooooh
seasons come and go
but I will never change
and I'm on my way

Is it the sounds of an angels
written by saviours
a mixture of hate and
all it's grace

Is it the color of Glory
and suffering souls
that take you away

Is it the top of the mountain or
the feeling you found it
that really floods

Is that the perfect relational ship
something in place of it
that keeps it going

oh written in the stars

Written in the Stars (Yeah)...

as opposed to the truly awful Tinie Tempah version.....

"Written In The Stars"
(feat. Eric Turner)

[Eric Turner:]
Oh written in the stars
A million miles away
A message to the main
Oh
Seasons come and go
But I will never change
And I'm on my way

[Tinie Tempah - verse 1:]
Lets go...
Yeah
You're listening now
They say they ain't heard nothing like this in a while
That's why they play my song on so many different dials
'Cause I got more ****ing hits than a disciplined child
When they see me everybody brrrrrap's, brrrrrraps
Man I'm like a young gun fully black barrack
I cried tear drops over the massive attack
I only make hits like I work with a racket and bat
Look at my jacket and hat
So damn berserk
So down to earth
I'm bringing gravity back
Adopted by the major I want my family back
People work hard just to get all their salary taxed
Look I'm just a writer from the ghetto like Malorie Blackman
Where the hell's all the sanity at, damn
I used to be the kid that no one cared about
That's why you have to keep screaming till they hear you out

[chorus:]
Oh written in the stars
A million miles away
A message to the main
Oh
Seasons come and go
But I will never change
And I'm on my way

[Tinie Tempah - verse 2:]
Yeah, I needed a change
When we ate we never tip cause we needed the change
I needed a break
For a sec I even gave up believing and praying
I even done illegal stuff and was leaded astray
They say the money is the root to the evilest ways
But have you ever been so hungry it keeps you awake
Mate, now my hunger would leave them amazed
Great, it feels like a long time coming, fam
Since the day I thought of that cunning plan
One day I had a dream I tried to chase it
But I wasn't going nowhere, running man!
I knew that maybe someday I would understand
Trying change a tenner to a hundred grand
Everyone's a kid that no one cares about
You just gotta keep screaming until they hear you out

[chorus:]
Oh written in the stars
A million miles away
A message to the main
Oh
Seasons come and go
But I will never change
And I'm on my way [x2]

Kind of makes ya wish rap music would do us all a favour and crawl away and die.

Yes, Tulisa is to blame, far too smug for her own good this year. I loved Ella and Carolynne this year but with Tulisa rubbing Garys nose in it every week when he lost Carolynne, Melanie and Kye and bigging up Rylan it has come back to bite her on the backside. Serves her right, the nasty upstart!!

Gary is the only decent judge on the panel this year and she has disrespected him from week 1 this year. She has backed Rylan against Garys better singers most weeks but now she knows how it feels to see both Rylan and Christopher still there with Ella gone. Maybe it will teach Tulisa not to be so smug in future. She had the best category this year with Ella alongside Nicole with Jahmene and Ella should have been in the final but it is entirely Tulisas fault it my opinion!

Ella will get a singing record deal, love the girl but I am sick of the X factor producers messing with the voters. I will never vote for the show again but would have voted for Ella had it not have been such a fix with the way Louis saved Rylan in week 1!

The thing that struck me about Ella is that in the Flash backs for the voting they could have edited in her previous weeks song and very few people would actually have noticed.
Every performance seemed to be the same.
The first few weeks I thought amazing voice but by week 4 I was just looking for her to do something different but she did the same thing every time. It just got very boring and almost routine.

I remember a few years back I thought the same about Alexandra Burke (good voice but boring) until the Big Band week when she totally rocked.
Ella needed one of those pick me up performances.

At last, somebody after my own heart, somebody that speaks sense. Ella is one of the 3 top singers for me this year and yes she should have won but when the likes of Tulisa, Louis and Nicole and the producers make a farcical out of the show just to keep the likes of Rylan on the show against a good singer like Carolynne, Melanie and Kye then what do they expect.

The judges are s'pose to be there to stop the best singers going home, not to chicken out and take it to deadlock. It was a total disgrace what Louis did with Carolynne this year against Rylan and a total fix and I for one will never vote for the X factor again. Maybe Simon Cowell and the producers will now realise that they cannot make fools of the voting public. I think that people are voting for Rylan and Christopher out of rebellion but I myself will not waste my money ever again on a show that is totally fixed!

People are at last putting two fingers up to Simon Cowell and the producers and also the majority of the judges. Good on them!!!

If she didn't change the Grease song into a ballad which did not work she'd have stayed.
We have sort of seen all she can do we know she is a ballad singer so she is getting boring I do lover her voice. I can see how people are bored by her.

The people who usually vote have switched off the x factor? 2 million + lost viewers from the same time last year? the least watched series of the show?
People have cottoned on to the fact that the show is rigged right from the rigged auditions to producers whispering in the panels ears telling them who to vote out each week?”

I definitely think that its because of what you have said in your last six lines of your post. I have stopped voting myself for these reasons. So disgusted with what happened in week 1 with Carolynne against Rylan. Gary is the only decent and honest judge left in this series.

Tulisa has been a total disgrace this year, laughing in Garys face and constantly winding him up. It would not surprise me if people are voting for Christopher because he is in Garys category and the attitude that Tulisa has had towards Gary! Like they say, what goes around comes around! Tulisa has got too big for her boots this year!

I totally agree with you! I cannot stand Tulisa this year either and the way she has talked to Gary and thrown her strops who would want her to win again. I love Ella but stopped voting after week 1 when it was shown what a total fix the X factor has become over the years with the producer whispering in Louis ear to keep Rylan in the show over Carolynne who was a fantastic singer. There was no contest, Carolynne totally outshone Rylan in the sing off!
