Am I the only one NOT surprised?
I'm surprised about James in the bottom 2 because he's amazing! But I expected Ella to be. She's an amazing singer, no doubt, but she's the same every week, and last night she just murdered that song.
I think she'll do well and get a record deal anyway, but I'm glad she left and not James. But I'm beyond sick of Christopher, and the fact they keep leaving him till last to call out he's safe.. each week we're thinking 'FINALLY we'll be rid of him!!' |

No I knew Ella would be bottom 2 as soon as UJ and Rylan were through. I had a feeling Ella would be there since last night though to be honest. And I knew it would go to deadlock and she'd get less votes than James.

Everybody loves Grease and the bouncy catchy song You're the one that I want. Although she sang it well, I didn't believe would accept her version. And that is why I think she was in the bottom two.

Raises hand : I saw the early exit for Ella coming for several weeks....there's no sign she ever connected with the public.
James Arthur in the bottom 2 was more of a surprise (but the moment Rylan and Union J were called safe, I knew it would be he and Ella). |

He's so uncomfortable to watch... he makes me want to change channel or leave the room. Hope he goes next week. |

I definitely had a feeling James or Ella would be bottom 2 next week. And maaaybe this week, but absolutely not BOTH of them at the same time.

I did expect Rylan to be in the bottom 2 but I'm not really that surprised by who it turned out to be.
It was actually an ideal bottom 2 for me since I think they are probably the two most overrated acts in XF history - they paid the price for overhyping them and all the drones probably assumed they'd be safe. Lol @ Nicole's 'James is one of the greatest human talents' - pretty much what I was talking about with the overrated-ness. |

this is xfactor's own fault they let rylan build critical mass instead of getting rid of him when they had a chance. it was sweet irony that tulisa lost her act after saving rylan

Having watched this show for 9 years and with this year's messed up eliminations, nothing shocks me anymore.

I think it's hypocritical to say that Ella is the same every week and then go on to praise James Arthur. He does the same thing every week too. Same angsty yelping vocals, same downcast, melancholic chords over a pop song. But then again he's male and she's female so there's an instant double standard.
I thought Ella was going to be a shock bottom 2 coming up alright, but I never thought she'd be eliminated at top 6. The show is a sausage fest now. Not a single female act left in the competition, and they were the strongest category too. Good job voters. |

I thought Ella would be bottom 2 but was shocked James was.
I don't really care who wins now (I don't think James will, which is probably better for him) - it's a joke now. |

It was the bottom 2 I'd hoped for, as I said earlier today in the poll, but not the one I expected. Still, not a massive surprise. I've been expecting James to hit the bottom two for a couple of weeks, he's just not the comfortable unchallenging sort of performer winners and runners-up always turn out to be. (Usually I'm all for challenging, uncomfortable performers, but not when I can't hear that they're any good). And Ella - well, her limitations seem to become apparent to more people every week. Add to all that the complacency factor, with fans of Rylan, Union J and probably Christopher all feeling their chosen acts needed all the votes they could get, and maybe tonight was almost predictable.
