Several of those four went to deadlock. Apart from Melanie going, personally I thought the right person went each time - not because of their singing but because of the other factors that contribute to having, or not having, 'the x factor' (apologies for cheesyness ). To me, Carolynne seemed really unlikeable, Kye seemed really creepy and Jade was dull and relied too much on the sob story (and shouldn't have got into the finals ahead of the little girl with the black hair), so personally I was happy each went. I thought Melanie was a great singer and seemed nice, but I guess she'd got a bit samey with belting out something every week and that's why she wasn't getting the votes.

Except, of course, that a race winner has nothing to do with anyone's opinion of their art form. There are rules and you can win regardless of what anyone thinks of you. Not a good comparison IMO.

Judging an art form means that there is no such thing as 'wrong'. There is just 'mass appeal' and 'niche appeal'. The problem is that what sometimes has mass appeal is rarely thought of as 'good art'. You just have to look at the oscars to figure that one out because hte summer blockbusters never win bugger all despite them having obvious mass appeal. It's the so-called 'experts' that you have to watch out for because they set themselves up as some sort of guardian of standards, like the X-Factor judges, but in fact they are just people with an opinion like anyone else and their only special attribute is to have observed more closely than most other comsumers the corporate machine that makes money from artistic talent. They have no more artistic credibility than anyone else because mass appeal does not equate to good art. The judges have mass appeal but are not necessarily good artists and their opinion will differ from the public's because they know of the corporate problems associated with marketting any particular contestant.

I dont think it was about getting one over on Tulisa, Gary has been extremely vocal in his James love. As soon as the b2 were announced I knew it was down to Louis, and that it would either be deadlock or Ella going with the majority vote.

Tulisa was unfortunate losing Lucy same way as Sharon lost her happy slapper girl a couple series back.

It was going to be much easier for her to have no acts left after that...

Agree with the public vote should decide but disagree with your point about Tulisa not saving Rylan.

Tulisa saved Rylan by suggesting he was entertaining. She had the opportunity to point out it should be about talent and Rylan was in the Bottom 2 for a second time.

Gary has always said he hopes James wins. He was warning about this happening weeks ago and Tulisa well and truly spat the dummy out last night when it backfired on her. I think to be honest Gary is one of the only judges left with any credibility and he truly cares who wins.

Gary said he only stormed off because he knew the camera would be on him and he didn't want them to see how upset for Carolynne he was, he's never shown any bitterness towards Rylan, he's always said what a nice person he is backstage he. He was fine when he came back for xtra factor, he just wanted to hide his emotions from the camera

What a refreshing post..and so right too!! Tulisa at the start thought her girl was safe...but obviously she wasnt as her performances were mediocre and flat!! Nicole ,in particular, picked Ella up on a few things which to my surprise, Tulisa just sat in her chair and took it all in!! Gary would say how Rylan couldnt sing and despite this both Tulisa and louis did it their way, possibly to rile Gary up!! Well it did backfire last night and Tulisa can only blame herself, not the votors!!! As I have been told myself, many a time...."If your ears dont hear, your back will feel"

That's why I kept emphasising 'personally' and 'to me' and that 'it's all subjective', because to me, personally, it was right, and it's all subjective.

Tulisa had the chance to get rid of Rylan, she could have saved the other act.
I am surprised Gary Barlow has not said more, it is a joke.
Rylan should not even have got into bootcamp - good singers are being voted out week on week.
Having said that I feel this years bunch have been the worst yet.
Time to call it a day or change the format.

Well it's her own fault and she had no problem targeting Garys other acts so he ended up with the worst in the category. Rylan "I'm voting with my heart" vote with your damn ears woman he can't hold a note to save his life. "It's not about the singing" well what the hell is it about then and why audition for singers. I know next year lets include a few jugglers and a tone deaf parrot.
