After last night's dramatics I seriously can't imagine what would possess him to stay in the competition any longer, I mean fair play, he has a shot of winning, but if he does win Syco will absolutely destroy him.

They'll take away his originality, market him into something Matt Cardle-esque and his first album will flop and he'll gradually disappear.

Whereas if he walks, he'll have his dignity in tact, get signed by someone else and his first album would still sell millions of copies.

For what it's worth, Christopher Maloney should win the show now, or what's left of it...

Thoughts?

Syco will genuinely not know what to do with him if he won. I think if he could get to the final, for the exposure, he'd be happiest coming second or third. He'll get signed regardless.

James is a very nice lad but in my view he is not the best singer
My daughter likes him the best as does a colleaques daughter so maybe there is a market for him but for younger generation

It might look a bit cocky if he walks, and people have already accused him of being arrogant. (I don't think he is, but I've seen others saying it) I don't think there's any need for him to walk as I don't think he'll win. And he shouldn't win. It wouldn't be good for his career. I want him to be with a label that will let him record his songs the way he wants to. But I'd like him to stay in the show til the final as he's the only decent one left! (Along with Jahmene). Just as long as he doesn't win.

I believe James will get a record deal regardless, as Louis said. I'm not worried for him to be honest. The last few weeks of the show is just a formality.

You seem to forget that Syco run this and have first shot of signing all the contestants irrespective of where they finish

You do get that he is just a pudgy singer who moans through every song like it's his suicide note?

So why are you acting like he is something special and that that is a fact?

Syco already owns him and every other finalist. He has no choice but to stick with them.

This. I thought I wanted him to win at first, but the truth is he'll benefit so much more finishing as the runner up or even in third place!

This.

The contracts the contestants have to sign are pretty draconian.

I don't think he should walk - that wouldn't look good. I think he needs to stay in the competition as long as he can and try to make the final but I hope he doesn't win as I want him to do really well afterwards and I think winning would be a poisoned chalice for him.

Please don't get my hopes up.

I personally think he should but not for the reasons listed. More for the fact that he kills a little bit of me with his dirges and angst.

However as far as I can see he's going to be there to ruin the final anywway so I hope SYCO makes good use of him by completely creating the monstrous work and then dropping him and fading him back to obscurity.

I hope he doesn't.
The difference with James is that he knows exactly what he wants. Cardle and probably Joe, didn't know what direction they wanted to go with their career.

I heard an interview James did recently and he said if he gets to the final he would love to duet with either, Labrinth, Emeli Sande, Ed Sheeran or Plan B. I think Syco will give him the freedom to do what he wants, and having Labrinth on their label will be of good use to James.

he should stick with, even if he doesn't win, Syco will sign him. He is their chosen one imo.

His contact with the firm wouldn't allow him to walk and I don't think he 'should' at all.

The whole 'you'll have a better career coming 2nd or 3rd' idea isn't really backed up by anything outwith JLS and Olly Murs

Yeah you might shift more early records, but there's no real examples of a long term commerical success outwith those 2

Er plus One Direction, Jedward etc etc?

I'll bet Jedward have made more money than Mr Murs.

What originality?

He's a learner guitarist with a half-decent voice. Matt was never my cup of tea but he had a better voice than James , was better looking and competed in a much stronger field. They both made their way through the competition doing covers of covers, just like all of the contestants do. Neither have ever shown a scrap of originality.

If James releases an album, be it as winner, runner-up, drop-out or whatever, it will sell nowhere near a million copies. Matt won the show. His first album sold less than 300,000 and his recently released second solo album has sold less than 30,000 copies in three weeks!

I do love these know it all's. ''He's nothing special'' ''What originality'' Funny how everyone in the music business can see instantly his star quality.

Not only has he got a great voice. He is able to transform songs into a modern fresh way while always keeping his own style.

James could and should sell millions of albums. He's nothing like Matt Cardle, Matt was not really modern he got the 40+ vote. He was someone your mother would love. James has the support of younger generation.
