I see the sun is running an online poll - should rylan still be there? but thats not really where the problem lies anymore. its not rylan or christopher's fault that they a) were chosen for live stages b) are still there.

people are voting for them, for whatever reason and once you put an act through to the live stages, the genie is out of the bottle. However, the judges and producers brought this on themselves with their careful manipulation and gameplaying. Rylan should have gone weeks ago and was somehow saved.

I can see the producers now panicing at the monster they've created. I hope they get what they deserve and if people are as outraged as they claim to be, they vote with their feet.

I'm hoping that one of them now wins - preferably christopher. oh to see the look on the producers faces when they end up with 'the wrong winner'. i see the publicity machine in overdrive over the next few weeks when they look to discredit both acts as much as possible. maloney once stole a 2p chew from the corner shop etc etc

For years the "powers that be" have tried to manipulate the outcome of the show with underhanded tactics, I consider last night to be the public finally saying "no" to all the BS.

I'll never forget how they tried to make Rhydian looks like a total dick, despite the fact he's actually a really genuine, sincere and unassuming individual.

Now we have the "witch hunt" situation with Christopher, and I'm glad it's backfiring so badly on them!

The "blame" lies in the fact that the only people who now vote regard the show as a a joke. A small number of teenage girls and grandmothers are able to keep the likes of Jahmene and Union J in. There is nobody left to vote for female acts or "pensioner unfriendly" acts like James.

Agreed. But because of how the show portrayed him he lost out to Leon.

I think everybody is misunderstanding the X-Factor concept here. SC doesn't CARE who wins. He makes his money out of the voting. SC wins every time.

If Chris wins, he'll crash and burn FAR worse than Steve Brookstein, and no-one will care, least of all SC, who's probably wanting to get on to the next big thing anyway.

and that is what makes me chuckle now with all the 'but it's a singing competition'.

Well if that were the case, why the hell did Leon take the crown over Rhydian?

I'd have a hard time believing Leon sang better than Rhydian lol.

It's the producers fault that they lost the publics trust with their ridiculous shenanigans. Why should the public invest in an act when they know that self same act could be screwed over at any time by the show itself? Loss of trust and public confidence. The producers have brought this upon themselves.

I really don't think it will bother them. Winners don't do all that well in recording careers after XF. If Rylan wins he'll probably get his wish to be a minor celeb and we'll see him in reality shows and trash mags. If Christopher wins, his nana can die happy and after his 'year' he'll disappear into panto or opening supermarkets.

If any of the others show commercial recording potential they'll get a record deal, if they make it - fine, if they don't they'll be dropped.

I think they're concerned about the shows reputation and what someone like Chris or Rylan winning would do to it. Not to mention how it might affect ratings.
