I really think so, even more popular than the Holy Lord Wagner.

I hope this isn't a vile, bullying thread.

How can we know? Personally I think Jon & Edward (subsequently known as Jedward) were far more entertaining during their stint on XF than Rylan has been on his. Hell, even Cowell warmed to them toward the end.

I don't personally consider him a joke act. Joke acts usually think they're far better than they are, which is what makes them the joke. Rylan clearly doesn't. He says after pretty much every performance that he knows he's not the best singer, and he clearly hates the fact that better singers could and have lost their place yet he's still in. The joke acts aren't usually loved by the other contestants either, and it's quite clear that he's an extremely popular member of the group.

Nah, the competition is just so weak that it only seems like he's more popular.

If he makes it past this week he will be the longest running 'joke' act, Wagner and Chico were out in week 8. And he is more popular than Wagner, Wagner finished 7th I think.

I think Same Difference still hold that crown.

I like the fact all the ace singers are going out because of him, and its biting Louis, Tulisa and Nicole in the bums! Go Rylan! Pahahaha

I don't consider Same Difference to be a 'joke' act. Yes, they were cheesy pop but they I wouldn't consider them a 'joke' act, in the same way Jedward, Wagner and Rylan are.

I think Rylan is officially the most popular 'novelty' act in X Factor. Jedward and Wagner didn't get to the final 5 did they?

Ah ok, I thought they went out in the last week with a bottom 2 and assumed that must have been quarter finals, ie week before semi final. I lose track

Obviously as he's beaten his place in the show

He started out as one of the most disliked contestants and he's changed so many people's opinions; which in itself is a massive achievement.

Week 8 is next week so he will now equal Wagner and Chico if he goes next week.

So true, he was very upset on Xtra last night, expressed personal guilt that he was there and not Ella.

The fact is, he's not got the strongest voice, but he can sing. He's not the most intelligent necessarily but he seems to have a good heart, & a generous nature. Add to that the incredible performer & the cheekiness... It's a winning combination. I think he absolutely deserves to stay in ahead of both Chris & Union J.

You can't really see Rylan as a credible contender, he is a joke act!, the whole thing about him is pathetic.

Maybe all the contestants should do what he does. Why bother singing at all, just mess about, it seems to be working.

I think he was more bothered because Ella is a good friend of his, he hasn't been upset about the other better singers leaving the show before him.

Mmm, I confess I don't often watch Xtra, maybe he was perfectly cheery when others went! Ella's the first potential winner to go though, so it was particularly unjust maybe.

Maybe because he thought they deserved to leave? Most of them did.
