I'd rather they bought back the original Popstars.

Yes I always preferred those shows and Popstars The Rivals created a huge band.

What about Pop Idol with Simon, Pete, Nicki and Neil Fox (Foxy) and Ant and Dec as the presenters and Kate Thornton as the Pop Idol Extra presenter or Olly Murs and Caroline Flack as the Pop Idol Extra presenters?

I don't think the answer is to resurrect two defunct shows from the late 90's / early 00's, as great as they were.
Similar to people saying to bring back Cheryl / Danni / Sharon, etc. That ship has sailed. Time to axe the show, put it to rest and think up some new ideas. Reality tv is on it's way out, IMO. |

I mean Popstars The Rivals from 2002 when Girls Aloud won it. Does anyone like Britains Got Talent which is for any act and any age?
But the answer to X factor's plight is not to bring back old shows. What ever happened to creativity and producing new shows? As someone termed it, X factor is a dead show walking and it has reached its end. It peaked when Simon - Cheryl - Danni and Louis were the panel and it's never recovered since then. |

I know which show you mean - I watched it back then and it was great. Same as Pop Idol - brilliant entertainment and real talent.

I often said that Pop Idol should come back.
That show was a bit more pure & less contrived than the X-Factor. |

I'd love to see it brought back but it was created by SIMON FULLER not Simon Cowell.

The reason people remember Pop Idol so fondly is that it isn't XF. It wouldn't be without its problems if it was brought back now. The main issue, I think, is that XF has simply exhausted a lot of the talent in the country; the pool of promising artists who have a shot at a success and aren't put off by the reality TV process is much smaller than people assume. XF probably needs to be put out to fallow for a few years to give some replinishment time, and then brought back (and possibly rebranded) in, say, 2016. This kind of talent show formula will alway be similar, and they can make a few tweaks to it to reflect how times have moved on, but it doesn't matter if it's Pop Idol, XF, or The Voice; if the talent is good enough, people will continue to watch.

It would mean no more over 28s though because these two shows only had a younger age range and even many people had to lie to get on the shows..some even admitting it at the live stages and having to leave!! Then again some would say that is a good thing - but we may not get acts like Olly Murs I loved Popstars The Rivals - however if you watch the live shows it was really cheaply made! I also think Girls Aloud are one of a kind and I am not sure that sort of success could happen again so easily Also don't forget Pop Idol 2 was perhaps considered a bit of a flop?? Michelle McManus never made a successful music career out of it |

I think all reality shows should be given a hiatus. Virtually all formats are fatigued and there are too many of them by far.

It is still fatigued whether a dog won it or not.

Yes I remember them. Paul Potts too and some of the dance acts (although not by name)
The only thing that kept the show alive this year was the interaction with Simon and David Walliams. I don't know anyone who watched it night after night like they did in previous years. |
