It's not just a singing competition - that's why they call it The X Factor. If they wanted a show that was mainly about singing they should create another show and call it, oh I don't know - The Voice.

They change it to suit themselves, one week it is a singing competition, the next it isn't.
It did start off as a singing competition and why most winners have had good singing voices.
None of the joke (entertainment) acts have never won because most viewers do think of it as a singing competition.
And it was reported in the papers that Christopher has been getting death threats via Twitter since last night
