Why in strictly come dancing are the joke people liked
Yet in the XF you gotta hate them or crucify them for ruining the name of the competition. I know Rylan is liked by a lot of people but the consensus is you shouldn't like him, he's ruining the comp..etc etc.
But in strictly which i do not watch, i know they've had some acts like anne widdecomb and the dude who does the horroscopes basically horrific dancers. Yet they all laugh all get votes it's all good fun and all that. Really the XF should be the same. No need to take it so serious, it wouldn't be the same without 1-2 entertainment type acts every year. If they get far so be it. They're looking for someone who will sell records. Jedward sold more records than Leon jackson and steve brookstein combined(don't know if that's true but it probably is) |

Good point - I'm the opposite I don't like the joke acts in strictly yet always tend to like them in x factor as I find them the most entertaining.
Loving Rylan this year but don't get who's voting for Chris he's beyond dull (although secretly finding it funny he's still there) |

The difference is this: Strictly contestants are already celebrities in their own right. They do Strictly to raise their profile a little more, but most contestants see it as a bit of fun. Someone's career isn't going to be ruined by losing out on a public vote to Anne Widdicombe. In fact, I can imagine only a very few bitter people would complain about losing out in a vote against a 'joke' Strictly act, because the contestants don't NEED the show.
Meanwhile on X Factor, these people are literally competing to have a career and a shot in the music business. If they don't do well on the show, they will never have a career in the busines. And wouldn't you feel awful if you, as a genuine singer, lost out to an act like Rylan or Frankie? |

And in the dance off, Ann Widdecombe or another joke act would never be 'saved' for 'ratings', which is where X Factor has suffered.

On SCD it's a bunch of has beens learning to dance, if they make the final or not it doesn't matter so joke acts are seen as that. On The X Factor many see the joke acts as crushing poor 16 year old Ella's dreams.

I don't think anyone was brought it purposefully to be joke acts. Entertaining does not mean they are not serious about what they are doing.
