At what point in a series do you fix on "your" winner? Do you ever change your mind?

Usually from the very beginning. I supported Nicky before the show even started, and he hasn't let me down at all despite receiving low marks from the judges for quite a few weeks.

I'm confused - did last years Strictly end differently to how I thought?

Usually by this time in the series I've picked my winner and will stick with them (in past series: Jill Halfpenny, Zoe Ball, Alesha Dixon, Rachel Stevens, Kara Tointon, Chelsee Healey) but this series I'm still very indecisive. Partly because the general standard is very high this year and partly because I'm missing someone like Alesha, Kara or Chelsee who just seems to bring complete joy to every single dance.

At the moment I'm torn between:

Denise - Because I can tell the difference between what she does as a day job and what the Strictly professional dancers do. Denise almost never fails to wow me and she even manages to bring the best out in James: his choreography is the best it's ever been and she almost makes him seem likable in interviews. Almost.

Kimberley: She's lost a bit of momentum over the past few weeks but I still love Pasha's choreography and don't really understand the "bot" accusations: surely anyone seems like flesh and blood compared to Louis. I hope that she'll progress a bit more because she's already shown that she can be great.

Dani: I never expected to like Dani but I've really warmed to her and the sweet friendship she and Vincent seem to have. She improves every week but I still feel like she's yet to have a real breakthrough moment.

With me there's sometimes a distinction between who my favourite couple is and who I feel should win. That's because I only want my favourite couple to win if I also happen to feel they've been the best dancers or at the very least are pretty much joint best. If it's difficult to reach a final conclusion as to who the best dancers are then it'll very much come down to who between them I've enjoyed watching more.

In Series 6 and 8 it was quite straightforward. I only really watched the latter part of SCD 6 but wanted Rachel to win very soon after I began watching. For me she was the best dancer.

With Series 8 I was a Kara supporter from Week 1 and my backing for her just got stronger and stronger as the weeks progressed. I felt she was easily the best dancer.

Series 9 was different. Holly was my favourite celeb off the dance floor and although I wanted her to make the final (and voted for her to do so up to and including the semi), I didn't want her to win. For me the winner had to be either Chelsee or Harry. In the first half of the series out of the two of them I favoured Chelsee. However in the latter half Harry and Aliona really began to win me over, first with their AT and then with their QS and VW. So much so that by the end they just edged it for me over Chelsee/Pasha and particularly since I thought they danced better in the final. SCD 9 showed I'm capable of changing my mind and being won over by good dancing (even past the halfway stage).

This series is like Series 7 for me in that my favourites are far from the best dancers and thus I don't want them to win. In series 7 Phil and Katya were my favourite couple and was keen for them to go far but not ultimately to win. By the semi they were already out anyway and I'd come to the conclusion I wanted Ricky (as the best dancer) to win. I thus voted for him in the semi and final.

This year my faves are Michael and Victoria. Ideally I'd like to see Lisa out on Saturday, Nicky the following week, with Victoria going in the quarters and Michael the semis (can't see Lisa going in the next couple of weeks though ). I feel the winner should come from Denise, Dani, Louis or Kimberley, but I've yet to come to a conclusion as to which of them I'd like to win.

A bit late for this thread but here I go.
Ok I started to get really invested in season 5: I loved Alesha from the start and wanted her to win and she did. This is actually the first serie till this day where I loved all the finalists contestants and wouldnt have been mad and say he/she uz robbed if they didnt win .
Oh and I loved Ramps and wanted him to win from the beginning.
-Chris and Ola I was a bit mad when they won bc I backed Nat and Ricky but it was a bit bittersweet as I was happy for Ola so its all good .
-I loved kara and Artem from the start and was so ecstatic when they won and was glad that Aliona lost that year even though I liked Matt.
-Last year I backed my favourite strictly contestant EVER Chelsee and was sad that she didnt win but I have come to warm up to Harry , he is a lovely bloke. I was just a bit that Aliona won yeah as you can tell shes not one of my favourite lol.
-This year Im a bit indifferent tbh. But I want my favourite professional female dancer Flav. to win and I like Louis so yeah Im backing these 2 .If they dont win it then I would like Vincent to win with Dani.
I really dont like Kimberly, nicky, victoria and especially Denise and James .
So yeah this year its flav and Louis for me or Dani and Vincent .

So I guess it depends on the seasons for me , some seasons its all or nothing for me and others are just well if he/she doesnt make it then Im backing this person .

Lisa Riley springs to mind immediately here - started off being Wowed by her dancing and personality - now I just want to throw something at the TV everytime I see her.

I like Pasha, Artem, Flavia and Natalie out of the pros so tend to start off 'liking' their partners. As other PPs have said I just can't get Kimberley - she should be great, and I do like her, but.......she doesn't move me.

Fern - just no, too pervy mum dancing for me.

So that leaves Louis & Flavia who I didn't expect to like, I thought he'd be full of himself, but my impression of him is a fairly shy, serious, focused young man who could be superb.

Michael has grown on me, though I don't see him getting too much further.

The surprise one for me is Dani this year. I've been really impressed by her progress - but something about her still falls a wee bit short for me (sorry, absolutely no pun intended there). ”

Same thing for me. I like Pasha and I thought I would back the celebrity he is with this year since I loved him and chelsee last year but kimberly and pasha's partnership just seem so bland for me :yawn::yawn:. And for me chemistry is really important in a couple that I want to support. For instance I dont like Denise and james but at least they have good chemistry.

This year

Love Louis, will support him as far as he goes, won't support anyone else if he goes out.

Michael - neutral at start, loved his jive, now going off him, his voice is so monotonous so he's reminding me of Jason

Denise - ringery ringah.

Kimberley - personality vacuum, find her partnership with Pasha dull

Dani - like her, like her partnership with Vincent but not as good as judges are telling me she is

Nicky - liked before he started but can't get past his massive ego

Victoria - like her, she's a terrible dancer, but I like her

Lisa - is now my Pamela/Jason/Snowdon celeb, so over marked by the judges that they annoy the life out of me. It's not their fault but I can't get past it”

bib thank you for the laugh . Ah Good Old Jason, good old times, man last year this forum was going off on Jason with multiples " hatah " threads about him.
