The advantage his band will have, is that like the big bands of the 30s,40s and 50s they will be playing pretty much the same tunes night after night. I'd suggest that the dancers have far more say in the selection of music than those on SCD.

Dave Arch's band has a new list of tunes every week and some on here complain if they've played any before in a previous series!

For all the people complaining about the music being chosen to appeal to the 'yoof', it's worth noting that Bicycle Race is a 34 year old track, it's not exactly dubstep...

The problem isn't that the producers are choosing contemporary or non-traditional music, the problem is they are choosing music completely unsuited to the dances.

Quite. Plenty of contemporary Latin dance music. But the producers are either clueless or not prepared to use suitable music for the dancing.

Or just ditch the salsa, samba, rumba, paso and tango and have suitable dancing to the music.

Not this unsuitable hybrid.

I mentioned on another thread that I have to laugh sometimes when Bruno tells a contestant to 'listen to the music', because they're not in time. With some song choices, the music is the problem, Bruno.

Must admit I'd never heard of Pink Martini but WOW - what a band. And what a singer! And what a feisty pianist!
That's real latin music that gets into the blood.
They totally outshine any of the overblown 'star singers' that we see on S.C.D.

Pink Martini (with guest singer Storm Large) - Brasil

They play some oldies but I wouldn't regard them as a tribute band.”

That's brilliant. Really makes you want to dance!

There was a thread on here a few weeks ago where people made some excellent suggestions for Strictly music. Maybe it would be a good idea during next year's launch show for the producers to invite viewers to email in ideas for songs they would like to see on the show and pick the music from the results.
