come further north prices are even better, mates from manchester could not belive how much my house is worth, they thought i would have been working till i was 90 to pay it off, i pay less than you can rent a garage for down south, and i live just out side durham in a nice village in a old victorian house

When I moved, I couldn't have bought a grotty one bedroomed flat for what I got this 3 bedroomed house for up here.

I know what you mean! I moved in with my boyfriend (now my husband) and we bought our 4 bed semi with a loft conversion and garage for less than 30k! Its now worth 4 times that!
Yet my brother in law has just sold his house down south for 145k and that was only a 2 bed semi!

My first flat in Manchester cost £9,200 in 1978, the house two doors down (4 bed terrace, SW London) sold last month in two weeks for £400K.
