Ricky Gervais ‏@rickygervais

#AnIdiotAbroad3 is the most successful series so far. The premier got Sky's biggest audience of the year & the week's views were 4 million.

THE first season has yet to hit television screens, but The Diary can reveal that the BBC have already given the green light for a second instalment of the highly-anticipated drama Ripper Street.

Wow. Those are superb figures for AIB. 2.242m for the Friday showing - over 100% up on the overnight rating. 780k for the Sunday showing, 139k on +1.

I feel the format has run its course creatively but those ratings suggest it will be around for a while yet.

It won't be, the complete collection including the 'final series' is out on boxing day. Though Ricky's doing other stuff for the channel according to Stuart Murphy, which from his interview at MGEITF last year seems to be a sitcom pilot starring Louis CK.

Ah ok, thanks. The right decision to move on to other projects I think, although clearly its still immensely popular.

773k and 647k

out of interest are these two new episodes or is one a repeat of the previous week?

Elf does it AGAIN. Brilliant rating to get 4m+ incl +1 on Channel 4 for quite a few years running!

Takk!
New episodes. Also, just noticed that in the officials for the previous week, the second prog outrated the first!!! Is this because SkyiPlayer viewers are now being counted?

It's Christmas. We all watch crap.

(Though if that was entirely true, ITV would clean up with its festive schedule this year.. )

Swanky ? It's terrible. Can you tell whoever designed it that lower case is much easier to read than caps and I can't get it all on the screen at the same time. How many millions did that cost to redesign ?

Going by this, I can think of one painful BBC1 cheesefest which should be confined to Christmas

This is turning into Channel 5's best December in a very long time I think. Mostly because their films are rating a lot better than they normally would even at this time of year, and since they fill so many hours of the schedule, particularly at the weekend, it's doing wonders for audience share. An absolutely cracking rating that for The Expendables considering the competition, and reaching a highly sought after audience for advertisers in the run up to Christmas. They really need to boost their movie rights if they can so that more of the top movies are shown first on C5 as clearly it's a genre that can go very well indeed for the channel regardless of what else is on. During the day meanwhile, the second showing in the space of a week for Jack Frost beat nearly everything else on TV. Then Grounded found only one too good in the shape of the Manchester derby on Sky Sports:

11.50 Jack Frost: 825k (8.2%) beaten only by BBC One
13.45 Grounded: 1.16m (9.0%) beat all other main channels
15.30 Superman III: 1.35m (7.7%) beaten only by BBC One and C4
23.05 Full Metal Jacket: 406k (6.0%) beaten only by BBC One and BBC Two

overnight figures inc. HD and +1

Can't there be a bit more colour on there, my eyes have difficulty ajusting to all grey, but other than that I like the changes.

Channel 5 get their films right when it's December. Like the Christmas ones and they're scheduling their premieres much better than Channel 4 at the moment.

BBC1 has announced Last Tango In Halifax is coming back for another series. Biggest new weeknight drama series on any channel this year.

Omfg, that's awful!

The numbers column is too far away from the shows, it's impossible to properly read the information quickly when it's spread out across the screen with all that empty space.

Epic fail, and schoolboy stuff this.

Reinstate the original asap!

Please...

Astonished by some of the rudeness in here today.

Don't understand what all the fuss is about. I like it. Nice job.
