Crikey, how long did it take them to knock that one out? 5 minutes?

Very underwhelming. Who'd have thought ITV would have put more effort into their Christmas idents than BBC One?

I'm guessing that's not the main one.

C4's Snowman one is the best I've seen so far.

Ooh BBC One are releasing so many adverts this year! Just saw the first Miranda trail, new episodes after two years!

Something's bugging me. I saw a Christmas advert (BBC) and it had a clip of Miranda and Stevie running down the street, but I can't find this advert anywhere now! Anyone know where I can see it again?

ITV started their 'low rating quiet patch' well enough last night. The poison Tree getting almost 5m was good and Coronation Street continues to do well.

Emmerdale is still surprisingly strong, many weeks after the 40th.

Seems like the shit stage has lasted for over two years.

It sad though as it could be great if they axed the deadwood, got decent scriptwriters and a new EP.

I like ITV's idents to be honest.

Are they using the new corporate indents yet?

Still have the old logo. Very classy idents from ITV1. I like them a lot.

The BBC (regardless of whether this is good or bad thing) has a guaranteed income. They will get slated for their flops, but they don't have the business/commercial pressure that ITV has.

ITV reaped the benefits of being the only show in town from 1950's to the late 1990's, nowadays their flops hurt them more.”

The golden era for ITV was from 1955 until 1982 when it had a monopoly on commercial television and could show anything from Credo to Coronation St, knowing they would both make money. ITV's audience share seldom fell below 50pc, and then only just, and in the late fifties had a staggering 73 per cent audience share.

I see ITV have axed Switch after the first series of this fun drama about witches (Caroline Quentin was hilarious as a pagan mum). It was getting above the slot average on ITV 2.

The only thing I have watched on ITV 2 in years. I quite enjoyed it - even if it was yet another of the recent ITV clones of US series (Charmed in this case).

But it was at least not yet another crime drama about moody detectives or some past sin being revisited etc etc etc. We do need some variety on UK TV.

Oh I liked Switch how did you find out it was axed?

so on bbc1 with the paradise and now last tango both dramas shown in the 9pm tue slot where no other show rates well on any other channel bbc rules tue with eenders (soap), holby (more soap) and dull drama at 9pm, but because nothings else is pulling in any good numbers on tue night the bbc output looks world class mmmmmmmmmmmmm
just seems achiving a winning slot against opposition greater achivement than when against no other shows does anything from 7.30pm on tue night pull in over 4million on any channel other than of course the bbc1
when was the last time bbc lost a tue night ratings battle?

I'm surprised it was above the slot average. I don't remember it doing much ratings wise. Drama is expensive so to be only just above the slot average when the slot is normally filled by cheaper genres is probably not good enough.

That's a shame about Switch as it was doing well. The Fades on BBC3 was no doubt axed for a similar reason expensive and not doing as well as cheaper programmes. The accountants are in charge.

One of the actresses on it said on Twitter and then it was confirmed later.

cant help but feel the BBC should not be shouting Shrek from the roof tops, it is a dreadful movie, and viewers are more likely to turn their TVs off in disgust, than stick with BBC 1 after watching it. Same could be true for EE as well.

Also not keen on the BBC trailers this year, the whole "TV exec" thing, just does not work as well as it did for NBC, 30 Rock and the Superbowl.

Ref Switch...Itv said that it averaged 700,000 compared with 400,000 for that slot. But it failed to create a buzz.

So it was axed - though 'It remains our ambition to have more scripted drama and comedy... (on ITV 2) and while it will not be returning for a second series, we feel Switch was a confident start to this strategy.'

Coming instead is 'Plebs' (a comedy set in ancient Rome about '3 desperate young men from the suburbs as they try to have sex and hold down jobs' (surely will be retitled 'Desperate Legionaires' one of whom will be called Lurcio).

ITV 3 it is then...

I think Danny Dyer is in Plebs, which certainly rules out ITV3. Plebs will definitely be shown on ITV2.

I doubt the EE trailer will do much to bring in more viewers, it's just the usual montage of hard faced men/women looking narked off, same as what non-viewers think EE is about all the time anyway.

at EE! Still not finding any momentum ahead of Christmas and neck-and-neck with Emmerdale again. Worth noting that the month to date average for December for both is exactly the same. Both on 7.2m. Corrie meanwhile is doing very well (both over 9m inc +1). Xmas Day is going to be very interesting.

The Poison Tree started decently. Only a 2-parter as well so any sort of drop won't be too bad. Huge rating for Claridge's though. Did not see that coming at all.

I bet it does. Even my brother thinks it's good and he cant stand EastEnders.Tonight Walford showed they can be festive and I doubt ANY soap can top the xmasfeel they put into it tonight.

Thing is everyone tunes in for doom and gloom and there's plenty around(some lightheartedness too) but I have no doubts about EastEnders doing well.

Nothing todo with the trailer they have been showing ALL WEEK and then saying 'Corrie 7:30 Monday ITV1'

EastEnders WILL be fine I have no doubts at all.

Tonights Enders ran 7:27-7:56
