I wouldn't say the trailer did much for them really. They hyped up Peter and Carla's return and the ratings remained pretty much level with the past few Mondays. There was a time when these characters were comfortably bringing in figures of 10m + but as we all know Corrie is not to be criticised.

If the past few weeks are anything to go by they should be back into the 8m range for the rest of the week.

Still helps

I still think EastEnders and Corrie will switch from 24th Dec (if not sooner) I remember last years 'Bump' for EastEnders took later than usual and everything was saying it won't happen but it did.

So despite heavily trailing last night's episodes Corrie gets no uplift. Epic fail.

Tell me about it. The fact that the second episode was down on the first seemed to go amiss......still the 'Corrie is crisis' threads can start in a couple of weeks

I'm not sure that's the case when it comes to drama. None of their dramas do particularly well among 16-34's, even the ones that keep getting renewed. And it's not like any of their series scream 16-34 appeal.

They tried it back in 2007 or 2008 (The Palace, Echo Beach/Moving Wallpaper, Rock Rivals) and failed miserably so they gave up.

I confidently predict tonight's episode of The Chase will plummit in the ratings to 327,000 because, between 5 o'clock and half past five, every f***er in the country was travelling on all the same roads as I was. Every single bloody road!

Probably boosted around IAC the last few weeks.

Me too

EDIT- I see The BBC3 repeat has seen a rise. It seems to be back to the levels it was at when shown at 10

Not really, they want to keep up a decent level of 16-34s hence why X-Factor is so valuable to them but the vast bulk of the money they take is against ABC1s and Housewives with Kids.

Making some dramas younger than Marple or Lewis is more about getting 30-50 year old ABC1s than going down the 16-34 route. Those advertisers that focus heavily on 16-34s have long since abandoned ITV as the main home for their money - they aren't coming back.

Have they gone to ITV2 instead? I can't believe that Channel 4 has what the advertisers need in terms of 16-34 demos.

There was a period a few years ago when EE rated higher than CS most weeks, and CS took a right kicking on here, so to say 'Corrie is not to be criticised' is completely untrue.

EE has been down on where it should be for many weeks, not just one episode.

They'll be the heaviest users of ITV2/E4/Sky and other satellite channels - they'll still have ITV on the schedule but a lower level than the ABC1 and HW+Kids advertisers.

Channel 4 has historically taken that extra 16-34 money but yes not as much now as they used to.

Not sure about that. It's currently down about 43%. Obviously there's less viewers around at 10.30pm than there is at 10pm but it's down about a share point too, so it's not purely that. And with the main showing down 13% as well, these are not the ingredients for a pretty picture:

Monday 12th December 2011 Then
BBC One: 8.89m (34.5%)
BBC Three: 762k (3.6%)
BBC TV Total: 9.65m

Monday 10th December 2012 Now
BBC One: 7.74m (31.3%)
BBC Three: 427k (2.8%)
BBC TV Total: 8.17m

EastEnders WILL be fine I have no doubts at all.

Tonights Enders ran 7:27-7:56”

I'm not totally convinced. EE still looks pretty low for December, and the share isn't great either.

unlike itv which advertisers jump at the chance to screen around the bbc doesnt need a soap like eastenders post 9pm slots.

as on mon nights at 8.30pm after the 8pm eastenders the audience leaves bbc1 and goes back to itv this also happens on fridays.

with only tue and thurs 8pm shows gaining from a lead in from the 7.30pm showing of eastenders etc.
however holby on tue at 8pm and thursdays shows could go out at 7.30pm.

eastenders should become a 9pm drama and be on an hour two nights a week at 9pm offering a more adult soap which makes it totally different to other soaps.

No it shouldn't. It's fine where it is. EastEnders was intended to air in Primetime and that's how it's been for almost 28 years.

The fact it's up on 'Lately' is a step in the right direction

Sure. But you said it was back to 10pm levels, which it clearly isn't.

Missed the big ident launch for probably the first time since I was 13!

Having caught it before Tango, I was distinctly underwhelmed. I hope the curtain will slowly reveal over the next fortnight. Must be teasing us so far. I hope!

Do I not like this though:

What is this? Viva, QVC or the nation's most watched and most cherished flagship network?!

The Mail and Express will have a field day...

Occupying the Thursday 8.30 sitcom slot on ITV from January 3rd - Nursing The Nation, a 7-part series "following the work of district nurses visiting homes across Britain" . Doesn't sound very funny to me

Spoiler

Still, it's a step up from soap compilation shows. I wonder what give them the idea to do a documentary about district nurses.. You never know, it might just do what the soap compilations didn't and attract some viewers.

So odd to have diving on the Saturday and ice skating on the Sunday - guess they'll freeze the pool overnight then! I don't see the rush for Splash! - surely after BGT is when ITV need it, though I bet in the unlikely event it does well it'll be back in the summer anyway.

A whole 30 minute build up on The One Show and then one of the worst Christmas idents ever. I don't like this "Showtime" campaign at all.

I'm not sure why they've hired Gabby Logan for Splash! They need to have some fun with the whole thing. Not sure launching after football is the best idea either. Miserable audience by the time it finishes and not exactly an obvious crossover.

I see they've got Christine Bleakley hosting the dog dancing special on boxing day. Alesha Dixon was meant to do it so I'm guessing ITV came in and decided they had to give Bleakley some work. Poor call again.

What next, a family teatime slot for a Keith Lemon vehicle... oh wait!

BBC1's Christmas ident has been quickly branded the worst ever seen on the channel.

I'm struggling to find anything good to say about it, the 'Showtime' theme of the whole Xmas 2012 campaign isn't even particularly festive.

For possibly the first time ever, ITV1's Christmas ident wins hands down.

Might be more entertaining if they freeze the pool for Saturday night and melt it for Sunday night.

These idents aren't going down well. Think ITV's are the best so far.
