You sure, I'm sure this time last year IAC was pulling in 8.5 million. Yet this is one of the older shows that continues to surprise: five years ago it seemed to be in decline, but has added an extra two million viewers since. I can honestly see IAC outliving TXF and DOI.

Which of course the BBC havent trailed. I was hoping they would advertise Mondays ep which looks very dramatic and they have the Huge explosion but of course they havent. Good cliffhanger last night tho and EastEnders seemed to have 5 trends at 8:30 and 1 at 2:00am so its got people talking.

Eastenders shouldnt have to be trailed by the BBC themselves to get bigger ratings. If the show has big storylines like a car crash, the media normally publicise this and people find out through magazines and newspapers before the episode is shown. But it seems like the media support Eastenders has had in the past isnt there anymore so when these big annual fire/car crash stunts are done now, hardly any more people than usual watch it. A big episode like yesterdays should be more than just 0.3m higher than boring old Emmerdale Farm.

I don't watch EastEnders but knew there was a crash, i would imagine people with even a fleeting interest would have known

Probably doesn't matter, people who work shifts have different days off & probably dont watch regulary

Haven't both Pointless and Weakest Link shown that slotting in repeats has no or little effect on viewing figures?

I expect a lot of TV viewing of default channels like BBC One and ITV 1 is pretty passive.

Isn't that pretty much always the case though - generally out of the five programmes usually shown from 9.15am-1pm only 2-3 seem to be new episodes most weeks - indeed at the moment only Watchdog Daily is showing new episodes. It's a bit better in the afternoon with Doctors, Escape to the Country and Pointless being new - but everything except Flog It on BBC2 is a repeat. Somebody really should notify the Daily Mail.

I think repeating Homes Under The Hammer must be dirt cheap for the cash strapped BBC. Also ratings suggest these shows do as well as ITV's morning shows.

Always an excuse, on first showings between Monday - Thursday it dropped nearly a million, again a so called big storyline fails to engage with the viewer and this time there is no point saying its Kirkwoods fault.

There is no sign of an end to the mess and viewers have picked up on it, hell I'd even says EE's poor performance is affecting the shows immediately on afterwards, Holby City is down, teen Apprentice down.

I'm sure there was speculation on either this thread or the POV one that Mr Linsey didn't know what he was talking about; that there wouldn't be room for a 90 minute Strictly in the Xmas Day schedule.

Perhaps the longer slot is compensation for it losing its Xmas Day slot to Call The Midwife.

As for Fabrice, I imagine he has to avoid over-exertion. A week or two working on the Strictly special much better than a whole series of DOI.
