TMO is a laugh. I know the scheduling has been crazy this series, but I sure don't want ITV to kill it as it can get 4.5 million when the hoofing isn't on.
Big surprise of last night, Dad's Army on BBC Two nearly catching ITV1. I wonder if this will tempt the BBC to show more classics as there's clearly a healthy market for them.

Hate to bring this back to X Factor, but I just saw this really good article online from a student newspaper about the show.

Take a read here

No. BBC's financial year end is 31 March.

Link to BBC accounts (year end is shown at top of P&L on 20/96):

This also ties in with the fact that the Licence Fee rises each year on 1 April - ie first day of financial year.

(I know it's frozen at the moment but you know what I mean - when it rises it happens on 1 April).

Great rating for Dad's Army last night. And not bad for Don't Panic! The Dad's Army Story considering that was about the 500th time the BBC have shown it.

Message to Channel 4, Dad's Army has been a big success on BBC Two, so why not re run some of your classics like Father Ted and Chelmsford 123. I'm sure they won't rate any worse than yet another CDWM repeat.

Indeed, he's only actually done 3 shows hasn't he, but has managed to release about 10 DVDs.

People still watch it when it's shown on Channel 4 though as it's a comfy pair of slippers to put on for a few minutes.

This year's show has no competition and has the Olympics factor. It should beat all of them and then some. 10m should be achiveable.

Agreed. For the last couple of weeks, Channel 4 has shown 3 hours of Come Dine With Me a day (with 4 hours being shown on Fridays). So much for creative renewal!

Speaking on talkSPORT: "It has been such a wonderful year. There are so many stories to tell and we have had to lengthen the show by 30 minutes and I fear it may overrun somewhat.”

To be honest, if it overruns, it overruns. The Opening and Closing ceremonies overran, so why not the SPOTY ceremony?

Seriously - should be a massive peak tonight.
Andy23

Even if it doesn't overrun it'll get a massive peak because it's already scheduled to run after 10pm as the news is late, and even if you're watching ITV tonight, they are going to news at 9:45pm anyway.

The SCD SF overnight rating was a touch disappointing given the stonking figure last week.

But then when you look at the official 12.04m figure for last Saturday, revealed earlier, with a 1.3m timeshift, then it puts it into context. Folk were obviously out last night and recorded SCD. It could therefore pile on more than 1.3m last night when the officials come out.

Anyway, that gives us another >12m audience this year and moves SCD nicely up the table, ahead of The Voice of course. Is it ahead of Celeb now too?

Could someone repost the Top 30/40/50? We used to get an update every week once in the day.

Peak of 10m, presumably?

Perfectly possible. Average of around 7m seems likely, but ITV has a strong new drama, which seems to be getting some plaudits in the papers this weekend. And helpfully it finishes before the SPOTY climax so viewers know in advance they can safely watch the ITV drama and not miss any of the real business of SPOTY. Canny by ITV, and will surely dent SPOTY.

I think the drama will get a decent 5m+.

Honestly think it will be half of that considering the terrible lead-in. Would be surprised if it was even over 4m.
RobbieSykes123

BTW, that 12.6m peak two years ago was I think helped by running past the scheduled 9pm finish and The Apprentice Final being right after at 9pm (starting a little late I think), and ITV's 8pm attraction finishing at 9pm and weak opposition at 9pm - so was seen as being a little "wind assisted".

Without any such factors tonight, I think a 10m peak would be a magnificent achievement; it will almost certainly fall short and probably be "low nines" but I am hoping we see a "double figures" peak.

2.30pm-4pm Final Score [BBC HD/RB]: 179k (1.5%)
4pm-5.25pm Final Score [BBC One (HD)/RB]: 2.40m (16%)
5.25pm-6pm Final Score [BBC RB]: 36k (0.2%)

2.30pm-4pm Soccer Saturday [Sky Sports News]: 704k (6.1%)
4pm-5.25pm Soccer Saturday [Sky Sports News]: 1.12m (7.7%)
5.25pm-6pm Soccer Saturday [Sky Sports News]: 312k (1.7%)

Don't call the men in white coats, but I quite like Garth Crooks. This BBC version of the superior programme on Sky would be very dull without him.

Could it be that The X Factor actually helps Strictly, because it produces overall a big night of TV. Similar to how BGT & The Voice helped each other out?

Sounds to me there is a bit of Robbie's famous over/underpredicting there.

I expect the average for SPOTY to be near 10m, the peak way above that and the ITV Drama in the 3s

You have a bloody cheek!

SPOTY has NEVER averaged anything like 10m and will NOT do so tonight. I will go to the foot of my stairs, eat my hat and put my mortgage on SPOTY averaging less than 10m, it's as certain as the sun coming up tomorrow.

I think Andy23 is getting a bit "famous" for under/overpredicting....

The XF final would need to timeshift by around 1.1m to squeeze into that top 10.

It surely will do. 1.1m is a bit of a titchy timeshift for TXF in all honesty, even in its wounded state.

I now realise why SCD is so long next week - 4 in the final. Grubby ratings grabbing BBC1. Tsk, tsk.

Going to be a long night...

Looks like they're cutting the number of ad breaks in The Making of a Lady as it was made for a two hour slot.

Now putting an 88m show in a 105m slot.

Perhaps Joanna Lumley, being a 'National Treasure', will give it a decent number?
