Chance of high peak for the climax going out of the window.
Folk have work tomorrow, and ratings will now be dropping away. Now think 10.30 is the likely finish.

This ain't finishing at 10.05, no way. They'll have at least ten minutes between close of poll and the announcement of the winner.
I predict a 10.17pm finish. And 11am for the overnights.... ![]() |

Surely they could have pulled Strictly back and given SPOTY a few more minutes on the schedule?

His promotion for that on The One Show the other week was absolutely horrible, started off mildly amusing and then went downhill fast, his treatment of Alex Jones especially was very poor, she really should of whacked him. She did look like she wanted to very badly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXeYXdSz1Pg

No. BBC's financial year end is 31 March.
Link to BBC accounts (year end is shown at top of P&L on 20/96): http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/annualrep...ne_2011_12.pdf This also ties in with the fact that the Licence Fee rises each year on 1 April - ie first day of financial year. (I know it's frozen at the moment but you know what I mean - when it rises it happens on 1 April).

Won't have an impact. Didn't stop people with the Olympics Closing did it? Or Sherlock, or Downton, or loads of stuff that runs to this time.

There was no X Factor yesterday. They could have screened a live Strictly results show for the sem-final last night. But, hey, why not give SPOTY a 9 or 10m lead-in to help boost ratings. Don't know why they didn't just scheule SPOTY to 10.30 anyway.

11am Tuesday, presumably? A late finish will send BARB into a tailspin.
![]() 10m+ average is very possible IMO; as others have said it lacks opposition and is rounding off an epic year of sport. |

They should have scheduled it to 10.30pm and if it finished earlier then it's a result. BBC1 aren't going to suddenly change the Strictly scheduling a week before the final.

And it's a very watchable show. Haven't enjoyed SPOTY this much in years.

Never mind the start and end times for SPOTY, if it rates well, tomorrow's posts on the ratings thread will be devoted to finding a way of moving it to ITV, a la Eurovision's good rating a year or two ago.

Let's face it though, they could have scheduled SPOTY from 6pm-11pm and it would still overrun. |

I think the big winner tonight will be SPOTY. ITV were weak, so there was no effective competition, and don't be surprised if the peak is over 10 million.

Ooh, I hadn't noticed that. I was quite looking forward to seeing the 2002 special again.
Thankfully, the one they're showing isn't the risible one set in the future where one of the characters was just a severed head on a plate and powered by electricity. |
