When XF got 8million for its launch, people said not to worry. It only rated so low cos of hot weather and Olympics, and thy ratings would improve. Head of Itv defended the ratings and said to wait a couple months as the show apparently had its best talent ever. A few months on, on a cold dark December night, XFactor got even fewer viewers for its semi final and ratings are heading south instead of up as the final approaches. A 6m ratings drop in 2 years is indefensible. The show was clearly dependent on a lot of hype and style over substance in its glory years. Now that all the hype is gone, people have seen what it really is as in an overated karaoke show. The ratings will continue to go down next year, its clear that no matter what changes XF make to their judges, contestants or even the format, viewers have moved onto other things because XF is a tainted brand. They have seen everything which the show could possibly offer under the XF name during 2007-2010 from the big production values which can't get any bigger to star judging lineup which will never be Ble to live up to the 2008-10 quartet to the controversies which can't be topped. Viewers have tired of the show, it can't offer much new after 10 series and even if they do offer something new or fresh, many viewers have moved on and aren't going to come back to watch it again. Itv might as well start afresh with a new singing show in 2014 which isn't damaged goods and doesn't have the bad vibe XF has about it. It might not rate as well initially but it'll have much more potential to grow over the next decade than XF would.
