ITV1+1 ratings now added. Great ratings for the two films on Channel 4 and 5 yesterday afternoon and evening.

2.6m for Miracle is very good, I can see Elf easily topping 3m next Sunday

I think Mr Selfridge will flop like Titanic. Hyped too much but won't go down well with the public. Doesn't sound like the next Call the Midwife or Downton Abbey.

And not for the first time either!

Trounced by Strictly, beaten by Countryfile, it didn't really do much "crutching" for the dying TXF.

Unless RVP averages 10m tonight, I question the wisdom of that scheduling.

As for Corrie, if a 3m trouncing by SCD, even with a head start, is where it is at, then it will tank on Christmas Day against Midwife, absolutely tank, it should be pulled from the schedule or moved to another night, or maybe even axed....

Are the current ratings bad or average for Misfits? Being beaten by a prime time repeat of a show only available on Sky, in both viewers and share isn't great surely?

I love that the Christmas films always do well on Channel 4 and 5. Elf is seen as a monster when it is shown next to Christmas, it always manages to get over 3.5m. Great rating for Miracle. XF is around at the level I expected, I can see only an extra 1m viewers for next weeks final to take it to around 10.0m incl +1.

did any one expect corrie to beat strictly??? doubt anything would on any channel at all doubt corrie fans even knew corrie was on sun nite, corrie gets moved around a lot more than eastenders but still corrie number 1 soap. what ever itv puts up against strictly it will not achieve mass audience.

The bottom line remains the same: ITV put all their faith in Simon Cowell - and now the risks of that strategy are becoming all too apparent.

As for TXF's stagnation, I cannot help see the irony in Christopher Maloney being criticised for being 'too karaoke' when that's all the show is and ever has been. Cowell's ego has, hilariously, deluded him to such an extent that he thinks he can somehow claim some musical credibility ... just like the pop acts he and his ilk manage start imagining. TXF was only ever glorified karaoke, and the sooner Cowell recognises that, the better the chance of him rescuing the show ...

The shows tired and the inability to move on from what was not that important a format in the first place has basically killed the show,

I didn't watch this year. So much wasted oppurtunity last year.
Whole case leaving except the least charismatic one doesn't help.

Was approached by a gentleman this morning on my walk into work asking me directions; it transpired that he was taking his daughter to the BGT auditions literally next door to my office (and with the txf final on my home patch too next weekend, I wonder why Cowell is doing this to me...).

Either way, it's an open audition, so if anyone has any suggestions, I might nip over later. I left the dog at home, but I could conceivably read out the year on year averages for bgt and txf, Brucie style, maybe even do a little tap dance at the same time?

Excellent audience for Crickley and a very easy slot winner. MOTD2 did alright too I think given yesterday's single fixture didn't sound that appealing.


Dragons' Den on the way back up. Unfortunately so is the awful Harry and Paul, creeping (ever so slightly) ahead of Peep Show. That is simply not right. Fawlty Towers still going great guns at teatime.


Hmm. A poor audience indeed for this. I was expecting more as on paper it sounded inoffensive and likely to be crowd pleasing. What happened?


Excellent ratings for these two. Look at the shares ! Jack Frost was even the most watched programme in its timeslot.

That was a repeat, a compilation of series three.

It was the last Dragon's Den last night, and also Hilary Devey's final one who has driven a lot of interest during her time on the show. It will be interesting to see how next years turns out, although they will hopefully move it back into its usual slot. I expect it will be the make or break series after how the ratings have gone this year, and a lot of that depends on getting the right new dragon.


Does Katherine Jenkins really appeal to an ITV audience? I'm not sure she does, but it would have cleared 4-5m had it been on BBC1.

I realy enjoyed this drama and thought the cast were fantastic

It ended on a series high in the overnights, which is always a nice way to go !

The first two episodes averaged 5.3m.

Does the wonky warbler really appeal to anyone at all? her singing is truly dire.

I was actually going to suggest that. If Alesha is around you could ask her to do a twirl (Anthea style), tap dance is a definite, rounding it off "keep dancing" and "Didnt I do well".

Just shows that people need things to be regular to watch, quite a win for SCD given it was off junction and how strong the Countryfile brand is. In the pre satellite era though prospect of something like Countryfile matching or beating Coronation Street would have been laughed at.

The figures for the XF semi reveal are obviously very bad by its standards, however this series is a write off now and part of me thinks ITV and SC wont be all that concerned, purely because the only way is up and it gives them very clear reasons for change. More likely than not next years will see a renewed enthusiasm and an increase in viewers-only if it doesnt respond can there be any serious talk of resting or cancellation.

Good to see the repeat of Fawlty Towers getting decent ratings.

Is that Homeland's best in the overnights for this series?

First episode that's had no real competition from ITV.

Perhaps they should think again for season three and put it on a less vulnerable night?
