I hardly think so.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this subject.

Looking at the consolidated's, this new sitcom for BBC Three "Some Girls" had 491k (2.3%) for it's first episode and 480k (2.2%) for it's second episode. So it's not doing anywhere near as well as Cuckoo and Bad Education which preceded it.

Having seen the trailer, I'm not surprised. I've seen more likeable characters in The Nazis: A Warning From History.

Off work today and caught a bit of Crime Stories. It looks like one of those training films you sometimes see at work, where you can have fun spotting the famous faces off the TV and try not to snigger as the poor production values. I applaud ITV for making the effort (albeit that the improvisation is only so they don't have to fork out money for a script) but it din't take long for the whole thing to drive me round the bend.

The ratings for BBC One werent that bad yesterday, over 3million against a strong Itv1 lineup.

I dont understand why Im a Celebrity is getting better ratings this series? After the launch I thought finally the public had started to get bored with it. How can watching celebs eating bugs for a 11th series be as entertaining, I dont understand what the main draw has been this series to make more people watch? It doesnt make sense.

ITV Media: ITV1 had its best Wednesday all-time and prime-times since May 2008. I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! (20:30-21:59) was the most watched programme with an audience of 9.4m and 38%, this was up on the equivalent episode last year by 1.3m and 7 share points.

Doc Martin was top of the multi-channels with 864k at 9pm. Those re-runs are performing brilliantly this week.

Interesting to see that the peak for the launch was only 0.62% higher in share points than the average.

What was the peak for Sunday's XF including +1? I think Twitter reported 11.7m but not sure if that's completely accurate.

I think any show that gets above 10 million is huge. So XF results are still big. It's the Saturday Nights that are lagging, as they always have, except for 2010.

Well it's ratings are down by two thirds on its 2006 peak. Seeing it today it is beaten for ideas, now they have people in national dress competing for prize money in their country of origin's currency. I think Channel 4 need to tell Noel the party is over and to develop a quiz show on the lines of The Chase. DOND is like ROB, a show with no skill involved.

It was accurate. 11.69m (39.3%) was the peak.

From where I'm sitting, as a non-IAC viewer, Helen is second only to Katie Price amongst the bikini babes at grabbing the headlines. And is this series not on course to be the second highest rated IAC behind Katie's original outing?

IAC is performing fantastically for ITV- and it was badly needed. Why they insist on a Saturday final is beyond me- could possibly see a 12 million average for the final this year though no matter what day it ends up on?

On a similar note, does anybody else think we could see a sharp rise in the ratings for Dancing On Ice this year? The controversial - and popular- Jason Gardiner is replacing Louis Spence and the line up this year seems pretty decent.

Depends how it's scheduled IMO; if it's thrown against Call The Midwife again I can't see it improving that much.

The rate of decline for Big Brother isn't really increasing, in fact it's slowed to an almost complete halt. It changed channels and like shows always do when they change to a channel with lower reach it lost a big chunk automatically but then series 2 didn't rate much different to series 1. Indeed, the start of series 2 was up on series 1 until the producers lost the plot mid-series.

Also, I'd never recommend a channel cancel what is by far their most popular entertainment show. And Big Brother, or at least the celebrity offshoot of it, is that for C5. It's not going to last forever of course, but then you could have said that when they bought it. For now it's doing a very important job and will continue whilst that remains the case.

What's the slot average? I'm guessing Crime Stories is underperforming?

Some people have posted on here that Midwife won't turn up at the start of next year in which case DOI likely to face the unadventurous line-up of Countryfile and Antiques Roadshow. Two popular shows but they tend to mop up viewers that don't want to watch any other offering rather that attract viewers away the way Midwife can.

I'm not sure why Midwife wouldn't be ready for January though. BBC1 commissioned series 2 the moment they realised that series 1 was such a hit which was pratically from the word go. ITV haven't officially commissioned series 4 of Downton (or only just commissioned it), yet you can bet your bottom dollar the new series will be ready for its usual Autumn slot. (Or maybe it won't be. Maybe Doc Martin will have to fill the gap and Downton won't show up until January 2014).

I don't understand why ITV don't want to get a couple more nights out of I'm A Celebrity and higher ratings in the process. The final should either be Sunday or Monday from 9pm to 10.30pm following Corrie or X Factor. Tbh the way it has been rating so far, had they given it a better slot then it would do quite a bit better than The X Factor final. Still think there's a real chance it will beat it even with the poor slot.

I reckon that there are two possible reasons why IAC ends on the Saturday rather than Sunday or Monday.

1) Going into a 4th week somehow increases the cost of IAC too much

or

2) Simon Cowell has given them their orders.

It makes little sense - even on the Saturday the final could run from 9.30-11pm and hold on to the viewers, so why they restrict it to an hour.

Looks like your ITV should be worried comments at the start are unfounded. It's as strong as ever and its posting some huge ratings. Oh and its the 12th series by the way...

I'm not particularly a fan of Big Brother anymore and for creative reasons think Channel 5 should just get rid of it, but the celebrity one does seem to have been given a new lease of life. I'm a Celebrity is on top form this year showing no signs of slowing down and its now series 12 or 13. It had a rough couple of years about 5 years ago but has bounced back in the last 2 or so years. There is no reason why Celebrity Big Brother can't continue for a while yet, although they should consider dropping either the main series or the summer celebrity one.
