Between 30th September and 30th November, in its regular slot, River City averaged 415k (19.79%) in the consolidated ratings. Holby City has averaged 4.78m (18.37%).

So River City outperforms Holby City share wise slightly.

EE in crisis. And apparently no one wants to talk about it anymore?! - but in ratings terms, its noteworthy of talking about because it should be doing much better than what its doing with Emmerdale snapping at its heels and sometimes overtaking it. And thats not including the gap between EE and Corrie now...1m most days. It's suffering some big y-o-y declines at the moment.

And if you don't want to talk about it or comment on things then just don't read it...simple! That's what I did last week when we were getting endless lists of Fantasy Xmas Schedules coming through (which shouldn't have been posted to that degree on The Ratings Thread), I just skipped over it.

Still not impressed because, quite frankly, that's rubbish for Holby City as well. It's on against ITV's flopzone Tuesday so it should be averaging above 20%. All BBC soaps are being dragged down by being on too much, but it's symptomatic of BBC1 being a bit of a lazy channel at times.

I stand to be corrected, but I'm pretty sure Taggart performed considerably better share-wise in Scotland than the rest of the UK. I say River City should be making more of its partisan audience.

Everybody has the option of placing anyone whose comments continually annoy them or bore them onto their ignore list.

Do you nae remember Take The High Road? This once did better than Dallas in Scotland. Also Taggart is a big shame_ the last series was the best for years but only got 3 milion in England.

All that's pretty much talked about at the moment is: EE in crisis, The X Factor in crisis and the Xmas Day ratings war - which will no doubt lead to pure meltdown on Dec 26th at about 9.45am roughly. Can't wait for that!

Well, I haven't looked into it properly - but just from seeing the figures from day-to-day, my 1.0m figure was just an approx. figure. I'll let you work that one out dan2008.

It already has. These Friday night chat shows on Channel 4/BBC1 are following in the footsteps of the legendary 'The Last Resort with Jonathan Ross' which was on Channel 4 in the eighties, which itself took its template from Late Night with David Letterman. Channel 5 did a late night Monday to Friday chat show with Jack Docherty. It's gone down for the time when Graham Norton stood in on the show as guest host. Norton then beat Docherty at The British Comedy Awards for Best Newcomer due to that stint as stand in. Embarrassing!!

Norton did a Friday night chat show on Channel 4 called So Graham Norton and it became a 5 nights a week show for a period.

So it has been attempted. I just don't think the UK wants a show like that 5 nights a week.

I think that might just be slightly veering off into the realms of fantasy.

I think X Factor's ratings will be interesting. Last year, the Saturday show (of the final) didn't even turn out to be the highest rated Saturday show of the series.

BGT's series average (inc HD figures) stands at 10.18m. XF won't beat that unless it pulls in figures of at least 11-12m (officially) this weekend.

Realistically I would go for 9.1m and 10.8m peak tonight, and 11.7m and 13.5m peak tomorrow.

Yeah BGT's average was 10.18m (inc +1: 10.64m).

At the moment XF is about at 9.6m officially and excluding +1, but there's a few figures missing which haven't been updated on BARB yet.

And 11.7m? You mean the average for Sunday's show? NO WAY!! It will be lucky to hit 10m (inc +1) IMO.

...and years before that Sky One had Jameson Tonight with the late Derek Jameson back in the late 80's early 90's.

It based on the US shows with Jameson behind a desk and even had a sidekick on the sofa. The original one was Clare Grogan from 'Gregory's Girl'. She was replaced by a young Shane Richie and then Annabel Giles.

X Factor overnight ratings have been down about 20-25% year-on-year every week for the last month. Last year's final averaged 10.6m (Sat) and 12.9m (Sun) excluding +1.

A 20-25% y-o-y decline will probably happen again this weekend so XF final average ratings will most likely be in the region of 7.9m-8.5m (Sat) and 9.7m-10.3m (Sun) excluding +1.


Up until and including the quarter final weekend, The X Factor 2012 is officially averaging 9.59m (inc +1: 9.97m). This is a decline of -20% vs. its average at the same point in 2011.

Strictly Come Dancing is officially averaging 10.39m, down only -1% vs. its average at the same point last year.

X Factor final should still get 10 million, but this is well down on its peak in 2009. The show still does good business, but I think it's on the way out now.

Would be good to see SDC over 10m again this week.

During the daytime.

In primetime they've got live sport, movie premieres and tonight classic comedy as well.

I suppose you think they should be putting their best shows on only to get slaughtered by the likes of Strictly.

Tonight's overnight, I think the peak could be about 11 million. Even though the show is in decline now, not much else gets these ratings.

It's now hitting Mrs. Brown territory. Great series, looks like IAC finishing helped it rise over 100k week-on-week. 2 episodes to go and it has already been commissioned for a 4th series.

Channel 5 bashers should watch the station more. It's a lot better than people realise and has loads of classic films.

Huge technical problems for XFactor tonight. The picture has broken up on several occasions and a microphone stopped working during the middle of a performance.

Really. I would have tuned in for that!
