I think the shows biggest problem is, as you say, it hasn't been particularly bad. Although the show obviously needs fixing, what needs fixing is far less obvious, and most viewers agree changing the judges for the sake of changing the judges isn't going to solve anything. I do think Louis needs to go - the show has moved on now and with him mentoring a quarter of the acts always have no chance from the off. However I don't think Louis staying or going would impact the ratings one bit - though I guess a lot would be down to who replaces him.

Tulisa has disapointed this year but the names thrown around to replace her - both old and new - aren't going to bring the viewers in IMO, and I think on the whole she's actually a good judge and mentor with great chemistry with Gary and Louis at least. Perhaps the problem is she seems to get on with Nicole (so she says), so not having the tension there was between Kelly and her has taken something away from her a bit.


For me the show just needs a bit of a polish really. Auditions is fine, though I'd wish they'd concentrate on one city per episode rather than chopping and changing, and I would always rather see more of the good and less of the bad, but I don't think that's a move that would be seen to be popular.

Boot Camp still needs a revamp IMO - it is the one stage where they could do something new and shout about it really. With judges houses I'd be tempted to give each judge two acts per category and then have them go head to head at judges houses just to give it a bit of a twist. It does mean though a weak group for example might go through at the expense of a strong solo singer.

The live shows just need polishing - starting no later than 8pm (the Merlin effect will be interesting) and trying to keep them as short as possible, and I would ditch the weekly themes in favour of just a couple of special weeks. It would be good if they could find a way to break away from the usual VT, Performance, Judging format on occassion - or at least make it flow a bit better so it's more about the performance and less about the build up and aftermath. Easier said than done though.

Even as an X Craptor hater, I'm quite surprised that its peak was lower than Strictly's average! Curious to see what it gets tonight, though given it's the results I expect it'll comfortably top Strictly...anything less would be a disaster. Pleased to see Merlin retain a majority of its audience even up against the final..BBC will miss it dearly next year.

No surprise to see the National Lottery Awards get low ratings. Nobody really cares about all that, just show the bloody draws.:sleep:

McFly's show bombed for two reasons. 1) It was up against the Strictly juggernaut 2) Until I saw people tweeting about it, I had no idea it was even going to be on...perhaps a little more trailing could've pushed it into a respectable 2.5-3m zone. Bit of a blunder from ITV1, as it received a lot of positive tweets while it was on.

Christmas idents will be launching that night. They just have to be.

series high for strictly. Could it be over 11 next week. How high will the final be. 12m? I'm not sure. Good to see the big boost this week though.

I thought the X factor final was on tonight? If that was the final show, it wasn't a great rating. It should be getting over 10 million anyway.

The Voice final didn't rate too strongly either this year. Maybe people have had enough of singing competitions.

The Voice final peaked with 9million viewers, the most watched final of a new BBC entertainment series in many years. With a series average of 9.2m, the Voice was the BBC's most popular new entertainment show ever on record. So I think viewers still like aspects of singing shows, if its fresh or different to what has been seen before.

Ouch for TXF, for all 9.3 million is good, this is way down on the show's peak in 2009. However, SCD seems to be pulling away from its main rival, and a peak of 12 million is excellent. I saw it last night and I can see the appeal, very good looking female dancers, a classy orchestra and singer, a well liked host and an audience that doesn't sound demented.

I think that viewers liked the initial rounds of the Voice with the novelty of the rotating chairs, but when it got to the competition stages, it just reflected the x factor too much and was just another singing competition. The ratings did fall very low at one stage.

Very very nice for that time of day. The appetite for these festive films is growing even further as the big day approaches. The peak was 1.94m with +1 included, right near the end. Super shares for C5 all afternoon once again.


Programme average looks low at first glance but numbers for the main event of the evening- DeGale's fight- were pretty strong:

Yes its true, the live shows weren't as popular as the auditions. I still blame some of that on the rubbish scheduling though. BBC have said they're making changes to next years series so that the live shows are more distinictive and hopefully better scheduling too. Mark my words, series 2 live shows of the Voice UK will be more successful, I have a very good feeling about it.

The Voice is about finding contestants who are credible and are high quality singers. This does not necessarily translate well in the current music charts. Scheduling and promotion of her record was also an issue.

So the point of The Voice is to find singers than nobody will ever hear from again once the show has ended. Got it.

I think like it or not, Louis is in it till the show's end. They've tried axing him twice (I believe) already, and yet he always keeps coming back. the thing with Louis is that he is given the bottom of the pile every year, and he did well this year because of Union J. I think they should try to give Louis something that will make him want to get stuck in a bit more. Or maybe your right and he is out of date for an ever involving industry. But with how well he did this series, his future on the show is pretty secure.


I sort of agree with this. Tulisa last series was the highlight of the series because she brought her all for that first series. This series, she has been pretty absent. I am in debate as to whether I want to see her back for another series or not, Part of me thinks there is still hope, but with all the press she has been getting with her love life and such other stuff calls it in that The X Factor should find someone else (And neither should be Gerri or the other one (The one which had the afro)). Such a shame Kelly left the show as I did really like her, despite her spat with Tulisa.



I agree about this. I prefer it being one city an episode. It makes it easier to handle, and with all the guest judges, it got a bit muddled and all over the place on screen. Plus the guest judges weren't any good compared to when Dannii was absent. I also really didn't like the BGT style that was developed on BGT. It makes it very much like an episode of TOWIE, a show I despised more than crisps. Then again, the guest judge idea was good, and people like Katy Perry and Mel B (That's it!) worked on the show.


Again, I agree about Boot Camp. Make it a bit like Fame Academy and get it from the contestants point of view. I like the idea of having the contestants competing against each other. You could have it through Boot Camp & Judges House, and make it a bit more exciting. Also, maybe change the location to somewhere a bit more glamorous and probably make it an actual boot camp.


Nothing really wrong about the live shows. But I like the idea of wanting to know the percentages of votes every results show.

I think we will surprised if the peak/average is higher than expected, and the rise is pretty large on last night's show.

XF hugely successful couple of years was really built on panel chemistry though wasnt it? I dont think the talent is necessarily an issue as long as there is someone to keep in to supposedly annoy Mr Cowell as part of some great pantomime game.
The single biggest thing they need to do is get Cowell back on the panel and instantly you have impetus-and expect them to try hard to get either Cole/Minogue/Osbourne (or any combination) to start to get back the atmosphere that made 14/15/16 million tune in to see what became a national event.
Great for Strictly which is performing at the top of its game with a succession of highly watchable bright family entertainment shows. And Pointless works supremely well with its celebrity version because they are clever in who they choose to pair up for guests. Some memorable moments-not always stuff the celebs will care to remember though
